Carney Accuses Republicans of Trying to ‘Blow Up’ Economy

This has not been Jay Carney’s week.

On Tuesday, he got into a verbal sparring match with new Fox White House correspondent Ed Henry (previously at CNN). On Wednesday, the harsh words continued, with Carney going as far as to accuse Henry of trying to “create a thing” for Fox. So what would he say to complete the hat trick today? How about accusing Republicans of trying to “blow up” the economy.

The remarks, ironically enough, came during a response to one of Henry’s questions. Henry asked what the president would be willing to concede should Republicans not back down. In the middle of a lengthy response, Carney had this to say:

“We never had a situation like this [in the past] where– there were sometimes confrontations over this … but the overwhelming number of times is the congress acted because this was not a question, there wasn’t this one-for-one thing, it wasn’t a question that I am going to blow up the economy, if you will, if you don’t do what I want. It’s just crazy.”

He also went on to call the Republicans “juvenile.” Mediaite has the audio (the relevant part of Carney’s response starts at about 1:38):

It’s worth noting that such apocalyptic language has popped up within the administration this week. On Tuesday, White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer said the country could sink into a “depression” if no debt deal is reached.

Has anyone else noticed that the Democrats always accuse the Republicans of that of which they are guilty – racism, sexism, trying to blow up the economy, and I could go on and on. In their accusations, they are actually holding up a mirror to themselves.

YES.. all the time! It’s what they do best. And they argue opinions and feelings in place of facts and strategies. They whine and cry and when they think they might be losing ground… they come out with the most outrageous LIES you have ever heard. Basically, I’m ashamed I was ever a Democrat but at least it was in my youth and Jimmy Carter cured me.

Someone needs to tell this jerk that there is no economy to blow up. My 4 grandsons under 6 years of age won’t know what economy is unless they look it up in a dictonary. I thought Bush was bad racking up a 5 trillion dollar deficit and here comes hope and change(obama) to the tune of 9.5 trillion dollars. This guy Corny needs a reality wakeup because the American people aren’t as dumb as he thinks we are.

What a bunch of A$$ hats, This is a three ring circus, let it default, Republicans need to stand there ground and let this play out in the stock market. The problem is, is that the American public dose not watch or listen to what these clowns are doing until it affects them personally. We are at the tipping point NOW, If the republicans fall short now, there is no need for the next election. The POTUS will promise more free ice cream to the 50+% of non tax paying citizens to his re election. I am so feed up with all of this it makes me want to fire all of my employees and buy a farm where I can live off the land and tell the government to go FOOOK them selves.

There is no better example of this than Chris Spewthis consistantly calling Boehner the “Tan Man”. This was said and typed on his show the other night. Imagine a person who calls everyone a racist, then making fun of the speaker of the house because of the color of his skin. What bothers me the most is that nobody calls him out on it.

Carney must have been a “carney” – one of those carnival workers who went from town to town, assembling and disassembling the carousel and teacup ride, and making candy apples. He sure as heck doesn’t have the brains to have been a carnival barker, though he’s getting close to living out that dream of his in his present occupation.

This political cartoon is from a 1934 Chicago Tribune. Look up the players named in the cartoon and you will find a phenomenal likeness to those inhabiting the White House now.

Yes, I too have noticed. I believe it’s a well planned strategy, in the spirit of Cloward and Piven, designed to obfuscate facts and create confusion. Have you also noticed how Democrats attempt to fool us with semantics? “Wars” have become “overseas contingency operations.“ ”Tax cuts“ have become ”government spending.” But then, Marxists and Communists believe the end justify the means, i.e. you can lie, cheat, steal, in short dispense with all values and principles, so long as it is for the “greater good.” This is hogwash, of course. Corruption never leads to good.

You must be smoking dope or some other halucinogenic drug, Encinon! The current mess we’re in is BECAUSE Obama has spent us under the bus, after taking some direction from Bush. Looks like Obama was so envious of Bush’s overspending that he vowed to way outspend him. Guess what? Data now shows employment rates at Depression-era levels. Teens 16-19 yrs old are now only 23% employed. Blacks are facing the same levels of unemployment they saw in the Great Depression. Housing dropped 31% during the Great Depression; this time housing has dropped 35% and is still dropping 1% a month! Face it–You can’t spend yourself to prosperity. You can’t tax yourself to prosperity. And you can’t possibly believe your statements–they make absolutely no sense unless you’re like Obama–so clueless you know nothing better or you’re trying to destroy our economy on purpose. Which is it? Nevermind… any answer you give will be bogus and deceitful.

I just want to point out that Obama can refuse to pay social security recipients even if we give him a 200 trillion dollar extension to the debt level, and federal reserve chief Bernanke can run interest rates to any value that he so chooses because he has power to print all the dollars he wants, regardless of the credit ratings agencies and regardless of a default.

There is no natural threat to the nation’s economy if we hit a debt impasse. None whatsoever. Any threat is a threat from someone who can make it happen.

Now that you know that ALL of the threats from Washington are threats of a bully, not warnings from some prescient being, make your own decision as to whether or not we should raise the debt ceiling. I say call their bluff and let’s find out how impotent Washington DC really is. It is the only path to economic freedom, really.

I completely agree. Balancing the budget is a matter of will. The Conservatives have the will, the progressives, like a group of spend-a-holic B1tche5, do not. If it’s shiny new bling, they have to have it at the ruin of everyone else in the house. And just like dealing with a spend-a-holic B1tch, sometimes you have to let loose the back of your hand. BIP! They don’t know what happened, only that one second they were checking out more bling to spend your $$ on, the next they‘re all dizzy and they’re lip hurts and they’re bleeding. That’s the language they understand. Puts them right back into line.

    Federal Reserve:
Usury private banking cartel manipulating our money, no longer backed by gold but by taxes on your labor, loans this to U.S. with interest.

    16th amendment (not ratified):
Income tax, voluntary via Social Security Ponzi scheme.

    17th amendment:
Required election of formerly incorruptible Senators by popular vote, removing your ability to elect locally trusted leaders to your State Assembly who similarly selected two trustworthy Senators. The Founding Fathers wisely precluded Senators from campaigning, knowing if one couldn’t buy Senate influence, it’s useless to bribe House members or a President. Exposing entire law making process to equal financial pressure invited wholesale corruption.

    Solution?

Abolish Fed Res, dissolve debt & end gov usury borrowing.

States must repeal 16th & 17th amendments to abolish IRS and end political influence peddling.

States must collect all taxes as their citizens deem best, while providing proportionally shared funding sufficient for federal functions enumerated by the Constitution.

States must specify by amendment, that any agreements or cooperative functions not enumerated in the Constitution but voluntarily entered into by any states, may be enacted, administered, financed and enforced only within and by those participating states and shall remain beyond the purview of the federal government.
