HOUSTON (The Blaze/AP) — Carolina Panthers tight end Jeremy Shockey criticized members of the Houston Texans for not putting their hands over their hearts during the national anthem, calling their inaction “kind of offensive.”
Shockey says he saw “about 10 players” who didn’t do the traditional gesture when the anthem is played, and he told some of them how he felt during Carolina’s 28-13 victory.
“I was pretty upset in the way they weren’t showing respect to America during the national anthem,” Shockey said. “This is America and you should at least give respect to America.”
Shockey‘s rant came in response to a reporter’s question about the Texans’ defense.

“This is America and this is just a game and they should not only be very proud of this country, but very gifted to be living here,” Shockey said. “Maybe they just forgot to do it or something, but I don’t see how you could forget to do that.”
At least one of the Texans shot back following Shockey’s comments.
“If he’s so patriotic, why was he looking at our bench instead of the flag?” said linebacker DeMeco Ryans. “Where did he come up with the number 10? Was he counting? Why was he paying attention to us during the national anthem?”
Shockey sports a red, white and blue tattoo on his right biceps portraying a bald eagle draped in an American flag. He caught a 9-yard touchdown pass from Cam Newton in Sunday’s game, then pointed at linebacker DeMeco Ryans and appeared to yell at him and cornerback Jason Allen.

Just realize that we have had only progressive globalists in the oval office ( That includes Democrats and Republicans. They all answer to the Same bosses.) since Woodrow Wilson, with the exception being JFK.
JFK, I believe was bumped for signing executive order 11110. Granting authority BACK to the U.S. Treasury to print AMERICAN money based on Silver.
This would have destroyed the global, federal reserve note.
They would also eventually lose the grip on America if that happened.

Posted on December 19, 2011 at 10:48amThe earth is a mass of rock and gasses. It spins within a system of dead planets and exploding stars. Life on earth is fragile. The continents divide and continue to move on a bed of molten lava. Land masses are constantly being developed and destroyed. The difference between our planet and all others in existence, thus far, is the fact we have life. Please explain the logic of one planet within billions of rock formations containing life? Within that single life force, amongst plants and animals, why is Man the only species with free thought? We have the daily ability to make life altering decisions. The planet does not. Within the“citizens” of the globe why is it that the United States of America has consistently shown the ability to right most of the world’s wrongs. We are not a perfect society, but we as Americans rule our lives with God’s law. Call it what you want but without true faith there is eventually only anarchy. Eventually you will eat your own. I think Shockey is attempting to illustrate the fact that all life is precious but all Americans should feel EXCEPTIONAL, thanks to God. In case people haven’t noticed lately the citizens of the globe are on fire. When it comes time to put out the fire who will the rest of the world turn to if not U.S.God Bless America.

This would not have to be military service exclusively. It could include any branch of the government and the type of service should be chosen by the individual citizen concerned. However, the first year should be served outside the U. S.. Again it could be in the country of the citizen’s choice. The second year should be served in the U. S., but it should not be in the part of the country where the citizen grew up. After satisfactorily completing such service the citizen would be free to pursue whatever career they desire. After living in another country and then seeing some of our own country beyond where they grew up, I’m willing to bet that the majority of citizens would have acquired some appreciation for the United States and what it stands for. 23 May 1844 – Siyyid Ali-Muhammad, a 25-year-old merchant in the city of Shiraz, Persia (now Iran), announces that He has been sent by God to prepare humanity for a new age and the imminent appearance of another Messenger even greater than Himself. He takes the title of the Bab (meaning “Gate” in Arabic).
1893 – The first public mention of the Baha’i Faith in North America is made at the World Parliament of Religions held in Chicago.

4. Religion must defer to science. Embarrassed by creationists? The Bahai’s are for you. As one Baha’i divine put it, “If religious beliefs and opinions are found contrary to the standards of science, they are mere superstitions and imaginations.”
5. The afterlife isn’t particularly frightening. Baha‘is don’t say much about the hereafter. Heaven is some sort of spiritual progression in close proximity to God. Hell is remoteness from God (not a very scary prospect for folks who’ve worked hard all their lives at staying remote from God). Universalism and a “wider hope” are pretty popular in America, and Baha’ism makes room for some very wide hope.
6. Good religion does good works. With over a thousand development projects worldwide, Baha’is are a pleasing sight to the lost. Literacy training, tree planting and other social ministries are so much more fetching than evangelism and

I understand the concept of your thought Chump, but unfortunately, it is not reality based.
The only thing that would bring mankind together as one Human Race, would be if we were ever attacked by Aliens from another planet. Only then, would we recognize that we are one.

Yes, a draft and compulsory service is slavery. You have no right to refuse, you’ll be thrown in prison if you try, and in most cases you’re paid a pittance compared to what you would be if you were in the private sector doing a comparitive job.

Baha’i is a religion that believes their prophet tells them that all races should mix together. They believe there were two prophets alive in the 1890s or so. His name was Bahá‘u’lláh, and there was another one whose name I can’t recall atm.
I’ve had conversations with them in the past trying to understand their faith, and what I could come away with was that, in essence, it‘s their goal to mix all of the world’s races into one, I guess they feel no one race is good enough as God created them. They also want to mix all countries into one..
So, in short, it is a religious formation of communism. It’s adherents seem to really believe in it, the same was secular communists believe in their system…

Posted on December 19, 2011 at 7:52amIt’s a dependable tool for separating low lifes from the patriots. It works here on The Blaze as well – the low lifes are defending the thuggish Texans, and the patriots are defending Shockey.
It really is a mirror on society. Look at the solid character of those defending the national anthem and our flag, then compare them to the flimsy, shaky, anything-goes loosey-goosey nature of the other side. The other side it what is wrong with this country.
And as for the “freedom from” comment, it was illustrative of the ignorance of “the other side.” This thread is not about religion, nor are the players’ opinion (Shockey) subject to an such restrictions.

Posted on December 19, 2011 at 7:55ami am afraid of the possibility of nationalism overtaking patriotism. orwell…George Orwell wrote that nationalism was one of the worst enemies of peace. He defined nationalism as the feeling that your way of life, country, or ethnic group were superior to others. These types of feelings lead a group to attempt to impose their morality on any given situation. When those standards were not met, more often then not, war would result.
In contrast he stated that patriotism was the feeling of admiration for a way of life etc. and the willingness to defend it against attack. The obvious difference between the two is that while patriotism is a passive attitude, nationalism is aggressive by nature
btw, my thought was that you held your hand over your heart if you were wearing a hat and it wasnt necessary if you were not.
Report Post »Theodwulf
Posted on December 19, 2011 at 8:12am@badswing Orwell didn’t say anything was wrong with “Nationalism” , He mainly was reflecting on “fascism” and “Totaltarianism”…Huge difference. Nationalism is why a group of people have a Nation, as they identify with each other and not with an existing Nation state. Patriotism is a devotion to that Nation state that one identifies with as a Nationalist. You can be a Nationialist and not a patriot, but you can’t be a Patriot without being a Nationialist… for obvious reasons.
Fascism, he compared with “Bullies” and specificly used that word to descibe fascists (in a letter in the mid 1940s)

What you say with regards to‘the right’ to respect or not respect ‘the flag’, is essentially correct for a free society.
However, I’ve been to Phillies games where there is a lack of respect for the flag by too many. There are hats on heads, people talking, cheering before the end of the anthem, etc. In my opinion, its not as bad as at football games, but its bad.
Lack of respect for our flag is part of a larger problem. I see lack of respect for other fans as well as the players. In fact, those things mentioned above are manifestations of why we have the problems we have in our country.
