Cartoons Calling for Jihad: Al Qaeda Set to Release Comic Aimed at Youth

With Zawahiri at the helm, Al Qaeda (AQ) continues to churn out propaganda of all kinds, but this most recent addition is unusual in that its main audience appears to be the very young. Get ready for Jihad cartoons.Jihad cartoon al qaeda youth Inspire

These screen capture photos are a first glimpse of an Al Qaeda created comic book that are scheduled for release soon. SITE Intelligence Group reported that on July 17, an AQ member in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) member posted about the upcoming cartoons  in a Jihadist forum. According to Site, the, AQAP creator of the cartoon:

“touted [it] as an ‘educational production’ to teach youths about the ‘noble life’ within a Shariah-based system, and wrote that it will contain depictions of AQAP operations and will incite youths to follow the steps of the fighters.

The posting in the Jihadist forum indicated that the comic will be officially sanctioned by AQAP at the highest level.  Jihad cartoon al qaeda youth InspireIt appeared that the poster planned to go through the AQ hierarchy before releasing the comic, probably to enhance its credentials among the young Jihadist community and thus appeal more to its intended audience. SITE explained this with further details from the forum posting in question:

“Upon questioning from fellow forum members and asking that he take advice from scholars about properly presenting the fighters, the jihadist wrote that he will submit the cartoon to scholars and AQAP’s media arm, al-Malahem Foundation, for approval prior to its release.”

Apparently, this week has been a big one for AQ’s online propaganda efforts, as the Jihadist cyber community is also buzzing with the release of the sixth edition of Al Qaeda’s “Inspire” English language magazine.Jihad cartoon al qaeda youth Inspire

Long War Journal reports that this latest iteration of the AQ-produced periodical “Inspire” is dedicated to the memory of Osama Bin Laden, and the success of his replacement, Ayman al-Zawahiri. In a quote apparently intended to bolster confidence during a time when AQ is trying to overcome its first succession crisis, the Jihadist editors of Inspire wrote:

“After the martyrdom of Shaykh Usama, the al Qaeda central leadership selected Shaykh Ayman al-Zawahiri, may Allah preserve him, as the new Amir. America is aware that with his invaluable experience and impressive wisdom, the mujahedin continue to fight and lay down their lives for the truth until there remains none to be worshiped except Allah, The Exalted.”

It remains to be seen whether Zawahiri, who is known to be less popular than Osama was among senior Jihadist ranks, will be able to direct the global terrorist organization effectively, or if the various factions of AQ around the world will become more autonomous and cut ties to central leadership.

      We are, are you implying that Christians go around attacking, killing, raping, hating, lying, etc. Christians do not attack, we do have the right to self-defense, just like Israel does right now against the Hamas/palestinian terrorists. If we don’t there is no Christian freedom of speech, press or religion. The US Constitution is built on biblical truths. If someone does these acts they are not a Christian because the New Testament does not advocate these things.

      Mohammad never spoke with God directly when he wrote the Quran. According to him the words were delivered to him by the Angel Gabriel. There for it is my belief that the book is false. I suspect that the Angel was not Gabriel but a deceiver of Satan to promote a culture of death.

      I agree with you both. Remember “Satanic Verses”? Rushdie brought forth text which muhammad wrote himself, and then when discrepancies showed, the muslims rewrote history, motivated by their viewpoint. Ultimately the muslim blamed Satan for interjecting his views into mohammad. Was it Gabriel or was it Satan? Thus justifying removal of these text, but it was Rushdie’s for insulting muhammad by pointing out these muhammad writings.
      I say mohammad was delirious with a false sense of grandeur living the life of opulence by marrying into money.

      THIS_INDIVIDUAL. A guy I worked with was a Muslim – I gave him a Bible and he gave me a Quaran. We read, talked, and shared our beliefs. He was a human that didn’t promote violence. I would rather be wrong and exterminate all Arab Muslim’s than to be wrong and continue to trust that the humans will live and the sub-human creatures will die. If Muslim‘s believe in life after death than death shouldn’t scare them. Either Arabs die or Christians and Jews die – I choose Muslim’s.

      Anyone who has read this heap will acknowledge what I say. That 90 percentage of it says; ” Fear Allah for he is all knowing…”, “the unbelievers will be punished…”, “allah says to me…”

      It goes on like this throughout, at first sympathetic to the Hebrew and Christian and then alters position. If I may recommend, please read some of this koran, and then what the mullah’s write, finally read authors of ex-muslims; Cassandra, Walid Shoebat, or even Robert Spencer.

      Oh yeah, muslims. They were so unruly a separate building had to be given them. They trashed the bathrooms seemingly because they didn’t know how to use toilet paper. They would cook in their offices and were foul to other employees.

    The people who made this video, and who make the Hamas ‘Mickey Mouse’ rip-off cartoons that encourage hatred and violence, are sick, ignorant and hateful people. They do have an audience, and that is frightening and sad.

    Most Muslims, however, are not violent and scary people!

    I used to be scared of Muslims also, until I met many of them after moving to Europe. I met people who are devout, who fast during Ramadan, and people who do no such thing. People who are super nice and funny and smart, and people who are just indifferent, normally going about their business. People who are waiters, who are club owners, who are guides at the local natural history museum, people who are my colleagues at an international software company. They are just people, people! And they are not a collective ‘they’–Muslims are individual thinking, feeling human beings. People like you and me, some nice, some not so nice, some religious, some not so, some funny, some very serious.

    They don’t all want to kill you, bomb you, etc, This is such nonsense. It hurts to read posts that portray Muslims as monsters. It hurts when I think one of my friends may read such things and feel very hurt and think that all Americans are as cruel and thoughtless as some of you.

      Only the Koran and hadiths are considered authoritative for Muslims, however.

      Incidentally, the very first verse of the Koran calls Allah “compassionate” and “merciful,” so you canot say those virtues are entirely lacking in Islam!

      Ever heard of abrogation? In Islam, when a verse in the Koran contradicts an earlier verse, the earlier verse is voided or abrogated. So, when you hear a “peaceful” Muslim tell you that “If you kill one person it is as if you killed the whole of humanity”, just know that what he/she is really saying is “Kill the unbelievers wherever you find them.”

So that I may understand what your point is. “The Quran has either been manipulated by wicked men for promoting the killing of infidels or they are practicing their core beliefs.” It’s one or the other. I suspect that they extremist are following the core of Islamic beliefs. That is why all the Muslims controlled countries are silent to the violence and the killing of none believers.

      Mohammad never spoke with God when wrote the Quran. According to him the words were delivered to him by the Angel Gabriel. There for the Quran is not false in my view for I suspect that the Angel was not Gabriel but a deceiver of Satan to promote a culture of death.

      If I were a Muslim, I am sure I would also like to hear why none of the major Christian denominations have expressed condemnation or at least disapproval, at the very least, sorrow, about the huge number of innocent human being murdered as ‘collateral damage’ by the United States in its ‘War on Terror’ in the Middle East.

      The reason I as a christian do not mourn the collateral damage in the war against terror/Islam is because there are no innocent Muslims.
      It does break my heart whenever I hear that some one has died not knowing Jesus. My Lord died for the Muslim also in war however the enemy is the enemy. If my religion called for murder it would not take me long to say “wait I should not be here listing to calls for genocide.” So there are no innocent Muslims.
      Even their children say they want to be martyred while killing Jews and Christians.
      All who appose Islam must die. Does that sound innocent?

      Here is some food for thought. To be a Jew is not a religion but a race of people. To be a Muslim is the same. Not all Jews are “Jewish” just as not all Muslims actually practice Islam.
      The ones that do however and do not call for Jihad or kill the infidel wherever you may find them are bad Muslims. Just as a “christian” that mistreats ANYONE is a bad Christian.
      Are all Muslims terrorists? No. Are all who say they are Christian – Christian? Likewise no.
      Here is the problem. How do you distinguish between the “average” Muslim from the Jihadi when the dictates of their religion call for global genocide?
      I truly do not hate the Muslims. I pray for them daily.
      Remember all ye Christians we are called to love our enemy’s and to do good to those that spitefully use us and persecute us. This does NOT mean that we are to roll over and play dead. This does not mean that we are to act as though we are not under attack. This means what it says: we are called to love and pray for them. Jesus died for them, they have value!
      Governments however are under different biblical laws. They are charged with keeping the citizenry safe. If this means going to war unfortunate but at times necessary.

      You aren’t really being fair.
      1.) It isn’t a kill or be killed system, I don’t know why muslims, jews, and christians can’t get along. If we keep referring to all Muslims as a deviant that needs to be killed, are we so shocked then that they become the thing that we criticize? The greatest danger is that we too become terrorists, hoping innocent people are killed simply because of their faith
      2.) Not all Muslims are violent – it is a religion like any other, and like any other it can be taught in different way. Just because some couples have sex before they are married or partake in sodomy =/= not christians. Muslims can choose what path to choose. There is no giant secret muslim agenda that plans to implement Shariah law on a global scale. Pointing at a few radical groups (who were only radicalized because the United States was training the group to defeat the Soviets during the cold war mind you) is an unfair depiction of Muslims. Calling the Westboro Baptist Church the pinnacle of Christianity is unfair. They don’t represent Christianity as a whole, the Taliban doesn’t represent Islam, must less Muslims, as a whole.

      Was it cowardice to Help Great Britain (our former enemy) fight off Germany (twice), this was not our war. Was it hypocritical to stand beside Japan to help them rebuild after they had drawn us into their war. Were we empirical when Japan was never occupied by America, but instead released to be self reliant?
      Isreal is not occupying any nation when their territory was founded by NATO, or when an opposing force invades and Isreal conquers said invaders territory. If the palestinians want their land back they need to move back to their original country, Syria, not be squatters on Isrealian territory.

      Amazingly, hurt most by the liberal desire to paint all Muslims as peace loving advocates, are these same liberals themselves.

      Why? Because so many of the tenants of the Islamic faith are in complete opposition to what these miscreants practice in their daily lives. Apparently, they haven’t considered that their support could well contribute to a situation where they could eventually live under sharia law, with all the attendant horrors. Yet it is they who demonize Christians so badly they have them on a par with the fartherist reaches of evil, mostly by declaring that all Christans are fanatics.

      Strange isn’t it that these same liberal/progressive types embrace a religion that believes in not drinking alcohol, not gambling, not allowing women any freedom of choice or movement, and believes it’s o.k. to cut off a body part for stealing, or stoning to death people for societal infractions, yet they regard Christians as “extremists” to be feared?

      Living under stringent Islamic rules would be a horror for them. I don‘t really think they’re bright enough to see that.

      Take a deep breath and ponder the notion, however much it diffuses your arguments, that Muslims are not the target of our admittedly harsh words on this site. No, we are indicting those who wish to visit harm upon those who do not deserve it, much like we do to some like-minded Americans here on our own soil. I have the same dislike of extreme American gangs, MS13, Neo-Nazis, Bloods and others as I do for Al Qaeda. The fact that Al Qaeda misappropriates Muslims beliefs and then twists them to suit its extremist agenda does not mean that all Muslims are the target of our words . . . just a small percentage of them. Hopefully, the rest of the Muslim community can see the radical’s effort for what it is, and steer their children rightly.

      So, please take a little more time to sift through your emotions before writing, and put something into words that might bait us to consider your perspective more seriously.

      I agree with you in prayer, I would add however that…My Lord Jesus we ask that you send your harvesters into the Muslim nations to see them set free from ALL sin. We pray that you not take vengeance but draw them to your self. Show the Muslim world who you are and how much you love them. We know that there is a battle to be fought but this battle is more for the hearts and eternal lives of men and women around the world. Help us to see our enemy’s as you see them. Lost and totally helpless without you.
      We love and thank you our Lord for the victory you paid for two thousand years ago that even the Muslims can join you and us in it. You are the way the truth and the life and we know that no one comes to the Father but by You. so our prayer tonight is that you touch our enemy’s to save them.
