‘Media Assassination’: Anthony Defense Team Delivers Wild Presser

Casey Anthony’s defense team spoke to reporters directly following her judicial victory. Aside from taking the media to task, lead attorney Jose Baez used the platform to rail against the death penalty. Then, in a curious move, he delivered the latter part of his speech in Spanish.

When it comes to the media, Baez has a message: Learn to respect the constitution. During the press conference, he said:

“We have the greatest constitution in the world and if the media and other members of the public don’t respect it, it will become meaningless. And today and yesterday on the Fourth of July, there was a breath of life.”

Defense Attorney Cheney Mason also chimed in, saying: ”I hope that this is a lesson to those who have indulged in media assassination for three years.”

Rather than sticking to the case, itself, Baez used his victory speech to speak out against the death penalty as well. He enthusiastically explained that he’s thrilled to be able to go home and tell his daughter that he “saved a life” today. He goes on to say:

“I think this case is a perfect example for why the death penalty does not work…Murder is not right no matter who does it.”

Early on in the speech he said that his “driving force” for the past few years has been to ensure justice for both Caylee and Casey:

“Caylee has passed on far, far too soon, and what my driving force has been for the past three years is to make sure there has been justice for Caylee and Casey. Casey did not murder Caylee, it’s that simple. And today our system of justice has not dishonored her memory by a false conviction.”

    Thank GOD for people like Mason. I have been a blazer since its inception. All I see posted anymore are mindless rhetorical, racially degrading, angry rantings and ravings about all the problems we face. Never any solutions or ideas about how to fix problems. I believe that the mindless, looney liberals have truly highjacked this website and are currently posting these “crazy like a fox” comments on this website in an attempt to create a perception of gun toting, bible thumping, redknecks inhabiting this sight and they are winning. If hateful words are written, remember,” You are liberal if your emotions outweigh your logic, You are conservative if logic wins in the end, we all have a little bit if both in us at any given time and we must always remember that consequences far outweigh responses”.

      BLAZE— Fire this so called editor and get someone who isn’t using alinsky sabotage tactics.
      Really- How hard is it to use a standard blog/commentary “most recent first” sort array?
      Better yet- Hire Greg Gutfeld as an editor in chief for material, and give him a staff of enthusiastic go getters form a local community college – if you can find any that haven’t had their wits hijacked by the lunatic fringe!

    Character Assassination!! Look who is talking they threw everyone but Casey under the Bus! I guess you need 10 witnesses and being videoed by multiple cameras filming this crime. Forget about the cost to Florida for the trial but,what about the cost of looking for Caylee when Casey knew she was dead. Lets get every penny back. How many children didn’t get help or crimes investigated while Casey was lying to the police?
    Maybe the defense team can have Casey babysit for them?

    The jury can only go on the evidence they get. If the evidence is not there, they have no choice but to find her not guilty. The DA blew it on this one.

    I just heard who these “jurors” were .. drug dealers , high school dropouts…. people who aren’t exactly on the side of law abiding citizens .. this case was “LOST” on when the jury was chosen.

      No mother could behave with such disregard for the whereabouts of her “missing” child, unless the child was not missing and the mother knew damn-well.

    The US Constitution protects the innocent as well as the unproven guilty. In a world where anyone can and will lie then we can only hope the guilty can be proven guilty more often than not. A small price to pay to ensure that the highest posible percentage of innocent reamain free.

    Casey still has to stand before the highest court in the universe where the truth cannot be hidden and lies are always revealed. In this court there is no possibility to hide behind the protections of the US Constitution. Casey will stand before God and little Caylee will prosecute the case. Defend THAT baez.

    Let’s see, she is guilty of lying to the police about it but innocent of the killing or of child abuse. How can it be both ways? If you take a moment to listen to the anguish in the voice of Cindy Anthony when she called 919 to report the smell of a dead body in her daughters car, you know that she knows the truth at that moment. No matter what else is thrown against the wall. The little girl is dead and was in the trunk of that car….and Cindy Anthony knows it. How can she ever trust her daughter agan? RIP Caylee

    I can’t stand “Nancy Grace” as she knows no boundries when it comes to keeping her “pie hole” shut. I listened to her on the news this morning and thank goodness there is such a thing called “mute” on the remote. She would be better off hosting a circus, maybe Ring Leader. Her thoughts on the verdict arriving on Thursday was squashed, and I just loved it. Go home Nancy Grace and practice keeping your mouth shut. It’s would do you a world of good!

    I’m glad the trial is almost over. It’s time to more on, and I pray the media leaves the family alone. They should never have allowed the public inside the courtroom. What chaos it was, and what a shame. It was a circus, not a trial. Shame on the judge for allowing it to happen. Shame, shame, shame!

      It wasn’t just nancy grace— although she was despicable. FOX’s coverage was also deplorable— especially judge jeanne …. they also had a great time trashing baez…. he did his job—- the prosecution DID NOT make their case…

    I said this to my wife, daughter, and son’s girlfriend : In this country you are INNOCENT until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The jury found her INNOCENT of murder, and child abuse. The media ran this into the ground. PERIOD

      There is a substantial difference in “innocent” and “not guilty.” Be that as it may, the state did not substantiate her guilt beyond all reasonable doubt….and thus a legally correct yet morally unjust verdict.

      Please don’t confuse innocent with not guilty. They are not the same thing and not even close. I agree you must be presumed innocent till proven guilty, but the system is geared to let a thousand guilty go rather than send 1innocent man to jail.

    I’m still not feeling good about a mom who knows her daughter is missing and goes out to party but this certainly does not mean she killed her daughter, just means she’s a crappy, unloving parent….who am I to judge…..the verdict is in. When this guy started speaking spanish I lost it all respect, it’s America moron we speak ENGLISH here!!! Those speaking another language probably are watching telemundo.

      I doubt that “she knew her daughter was missing and went out and partied for 31 days” I think it was more like: She knew her daughter drowned and her father wanted to hide this fact from the Grandmother and since he was an abuser already, Casey just dealt with it like anyone in strong DENIAL. That was not the right thing to do…but look back to GEORGE. Being an EX (why?) Cop, he should have known what to do. I suspect that HE buried the body under the playhouse but the Meter Reader found it and moved it to the lot in order to collect $ but also Meter reader wanted to keep that find away from his ex wife for $ reasons… I do not believe that Casey killed her daughter and she could have dropped her off at her parents home easily to keep going out. I think it was as George said to his mistress: An accident gone really bad(ly). NO case should be tried in the papers and certainly not by hysterical Talking Heads who now look like the idiots they are.

      Wrong Baez, Casey wins. She is the only winner. You weren’t there when Calee died, you don’t know anything either. Just the picture she painted for you. Her father is the only live person who can put a lawsuit forward against Casey. He sexually abused her, really. And then helped you bury her own kid. How convenient. There are 13 lawyers. How appropriate. All going to hell in a handbasket of a dozen plus you Baez. Casey will get her justice come Judgement Day. And no one will bail her ass out. Blaming the media is stupid. Trying to deflect from your client and putting all on the media. What say you when she starts to profit from this fiasco. The book deal we know is coming, the TV show appearances. Sick. Yes, we have a winner. Like Charlie Sheen might say, Casey winning.

      I find the whole case SAD–& to add insult to injury since Casey declared herself indigent & doesn’t have to pay a dime of court fees (rumor has it the trial cost 6,000/day). Casey can leave jail & go get a book deal & make millions off the death of her daughter. NO JUSTICE SEVERED FOR CAYLEE!!!.

      If you live in Florida, look in your wallet. See that lack of money? A lot of it is in Jose Baez’ wallet. Thank you Florida taxpayers. Before she went to jail, she took, and stole, money from her parents, her girlfriends and her boyfriends. She never had a job, unless you consider the fact that she was sleeping with multiple partners and living off their money. Hell, no one has yet figured out, probably even Casey, who Caylee’s father was.

    Constitutionally they did not PROVE her guilt. I personally think she did it, but there is not a shred of evidence giving the cause of death or proving she did it. Unfortunately, this is what justice looks like. YOU MUST PROVE BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT SHE DID IT, THEY DIDN’T! RIP Caylee!

      Well Casey will not have to work a day in her life. There will be a book and a Movie and this girl will not only get away with killing her child, she will make money, Big Money, on the death of the Child. I do not believe it was murder. I still believe it was an accident. But she did deserve to serve more that 3yrs.
