In a few short months, the founder of Defense Distributed Cody Wilson has gone from a man with an idea to a man who has helped change history.

Having completed and tested their first functional handgun made completely with a 3D printer, built almost entirely out of plastic, Wilson and his team now find themselves in the crosshairs of a number of government figures seeking to ban such technology.

Though Wilson received permission from the government to manufacture firearms, and publicly stated on national television that he planned to put the blueprints on the Internet for the world to see, he recently received a letter from the State Department saying his organization might be in violation of arms exports statutes.

Apparently releasing the blueprints on the Internet qualifies as exportation.

Wilson appeared once more on the Glenn Beck program Monday to discuss the new developments, engaging in a highly ideological conversation with Beck about God-given rights and the government’s role.

After Beck observed that the government seems to be arguing that Americans have a right to access whatever information and ideas they want, but that right is limited to our borders, Wilson said government’s actions are more than likely a political response to Defense Distributed scoring “too many points.”

But more than that, Wilson said we’re not so much dealing with firearms regulation as “what can be put into the public domain and how.”

“It’s a demonstration of claiming everything in the national security interest,” he said.  “They say, ‘well, your useless plastic gun can’t be shared with other people. It’s important to national security.’  In the end, everything will be claimed…”

It seems to be “consistent [with] the total bureaucratization of social space itself,” Wilson continued.

Beck concluded the segment by recognizing Wilson’s role in history and noting that, while they may not agree on everything, they do agree that “ideas are not dangerous; it’s the people who use them.”

“The people of the United States will only know what the government wants them to know and that’s not what the framers of the Constitution had in mind when they wrote the First Amendment,” he said.

In a separate interview with the AP, Pruitt said the Justice Department’s investigation is out of control and his organization is still considering legal action against the government.

“It’s too early to know if we’ll take legal action but I can tell you we are positively displeased and we do feel that our constitutional rights have been violated,” Pruitt said.

“They’ve been secretive, they’ve been overboard and abusive , so much so that taken together, they are unconstitutional because they violate our First Amendment rights,” he added.

In addition to the DOJ’s issues with the AP, the government also reportedly seized the emails and phone records of Fox News correspondent James Rosen while investigating possible leaks of classified information about North Korea in 2009. The Washington Post first reported Sunday:

Court documents show abundant evidence gathered from Kim’s office computer and phone records, but investigators said they needed to go a step further to build their case, seizing two days’ worth of Rosen’s personal e-mails — and all of his e-mail exchanges with Kim.

Privacy protections limit searching or seizing a reporter’s work, but not when there is evidence that the journalist broke the law against unauthorized leaks. A federal judge signed off on the search warrant — agreeing that there was probable cause that Rosen was a co-conspirator.

Washington has been embroiled in multiple scandals for weeks now, primarily surrounding the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi, the IRS admitting to targeting conservative groups, and the Department of Justice secretly seizing two months of Associated Press phone records.

On his television show on Monday, Glenn Beck began by highlighting the government’s “utter lack of regard for truth, decency, accountability, and responsibility” with regard to the IRS scandal.

After playing some of the more shocking clips from Friday’s congressional hearing with outgoing IRS director Steven Miller, Beck went over some of the demands issued by the IRS.  In Iowa, at least one pro-life group was interrogated about the content of their individual prayers.

Not only that, but Sarah Hall Ingram, the woman in charge of the IRS’ tax exempt division during the height of the “targeting,” received over $100,000 in bonuses between 2009 and 2012.  She is also now running the office charged with implementing “ObamaCare.”

“For overseeing one of the worst abuses of government power in recent American history, [she] was awarded $103,390 in bonus cash,” Beck said with disgust, adding that the IRS awarded its employees a total of $92 million in bonuses throughout the same time period.

“I know what it means to ‘serve’ the country, and taking even more money from taxpayers to fatten their wallets beyond their fattened salaries is not serving the country,” Beck said.

Similarly, though Miller did hand in his resignation, he was set to retire in about two weeks.

“I know sacrifice, and retiring with full benefits — and remaining on the payroll — is not it,” Beck commented.

But President Obama insists he is outraged and determined to root out corruption in the ever-expanding agency.

Beck countered: “How are we to trust his word when he is essentially investigating himself?  He is defendant and judge, referee and player.”

“There’s someone else that we should probably look into, and that’s George Soros,” Beck continued.

Progressive Soros-funded groups were allowed to sail through the IRS, and Beck claims there was a reason — the IRS was following Soros’ advice.  It seems at least five Soros-funded groups have been urging the government agency to target conservative groups for years.

“This is an action involving the corruption and abuse of power by several Internal Revenue Service agents,” the complaint reads.

“No search warrant authorized the seizure of these records; no subpoena authorized the seizure of these records; none of the 10,000,000 Americans were under any kind of known criminal or civil investigation and their medical records had no relevance whatsoever to the IRS search.”

This lawsuit is expected to present an issue for President Barack Obama’s health care law, which relies on the IRS to enforce the individual mandate and administer tax credits. Republicans are using this lawsuit as an example as to why we need to repeal the mandate and dismantle Obamacare as it puts too much importance on the relationship between healthcare and the IRS.

ABC News reports that Sen. John Cornyn of Texas has introduced a bill called the “Keep the IRS Off Your Health Care Act of 2013,” which would prohibit the Secretary of the Treasury, or any delegate, including the IRS, from enforcing the Affordable Care Act.

“Now more than ever, we need to prevent the IRS from having any role in Americans’ health care,” Cornyn said. “I do not support Obamacare, and after the events of last week, I cannot support giving the IRS any more responsibility or taxpayer dollars to implement a broken law.”

Z STREET filed a lawsuit in 2010, claiming the organization’s attorney was told by an IRS agent that their tax exempt status application had to undergo additional scrutiny since their organization was “connected to Israel.”

The Z STREET attorney was also informed that groups supportive of Israel and that filed for tax exempt status were assigned to “a special unit in the D.C. office to determine whether the organization’s activities contradict the Administration’s public policies.”

Lori Lowenthal Marcus, president of the pro-Israel group, appeared on the Glenn Beck Program to discuss her experience with the IRS.

“They asked a lot of questions about the board members and their affiliations,” Marcus said before adding that the IRS agents asked the questions repeatedly.

According to Marcus, the IRS agent assigned to their case in 2010 told Z STREET’s lawyer that they had to scrutinize their organization more carefully due to its ties with Israel.

The Jewish Press reported that at least one other Jewish religious organization claims it also endured a bizarre string of questioning by the IRS, saying it was asked “whether [it] supports the existence of the land of Israel” and for the organization to “describe [its] religious belief system toward the land of Israel.”

Z STREET’s first hearing on the lawsuit is scheduled for July 2 in Washington, D.C..

A few subtle changes made this Monday to a regulation in the U.S. Code titled “Defense Support of Civilian Law Enforcement Agencies” again has some criticizing the government for a growing trend to militarize local law enforcement.

The update gives federal military commanders the authority to engage in “activities that are necessary to quell large-scale, unexpected, civil disturbances” temporarily during “extraordinary emergency circumstances.”

Civil liberties attorney and law professor Bruce Afran calls the rule, “a wanton power grab by the military,” and says, “It’s quite shocking actually because it violates the long-standing presumption that the military is under civilian control.”

Reuters reports the revisions are driven largely by rising tax revenue from individuals and corporations. Government-sponsored mortgage enterprises Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac claim to now be turning a profit, which would allow them to pay down their debt to the Treasury by $89 billion, as POLITICO notes could help ease the urgency of the coming debt ceiling debate.

Meanwhile, U.S. initial jobless claims are up more than expected by 32,000 to 360,000 last week.

Duquesne University Associate Professor Antony Davies says all the talk about paying down the debt is nonsense.

There were no explosive revelations in the emails, but it appears CIA Deputy Director Michael Morrell is possibly responsible for editing the administration’s talking points on the events in Libya that day, for example changing attack to “violent demonstration.”

Then-CIA director David Petraeus had received rewritten unclassified talking points with input from senior Obama administration policymakers regarding the September 11 attack on September 15 that diverged significantly from the talking points he received from the CIA’s Office of Terrorism Analysis on September 14, The Weekly Standard reports:

The original CIA talking points had been blunt: The assault on U.S. facilities in Benghazi was a terrorist attack conducted by a large group of Islamic extremists, including some with ties to al Qaeda. [...] Before circulating the talking points to administration policymakers in the early evening of Friday, September 14, CIA officials changed “Islamic extremists with ties to al Qaeda” to simply “Islamic extremists.” But elsewhere, they added new contextual references to radical Islamists. They noted that initial press reports pointed to Ansar al Sharia involvement and added a bullet point highlighting the fact that the agency had warned about another potential attack on U.S. diplomatic facilities in the region. “On 10 September we warned of social media reports calling for a demonstration in front of the [Cairo] Embassy and that jihadists were threatening to break into the Embassy.” All told, the draft of the CIA talking points that was sent to top Obama administration officials that Friday evening included more than a half-dozen references to the enemy​—​al Qaeda, Ansar al Sharia, jihadists, Islamic extremists, and so on. The version Petraeus received in his inbox Saturday, however, had none. The only remaining allusion to the bad guys noted that “extremists” might have participated in “violent demonstrations.” In an email at 2:44 p.m. to Chip Walter, head of the CIA’s legislative affairs office, Petraeus expressed frustration at the new, scrubbed talking points, noting that they had been stripped of much of the content his agency had provided.

CNN has also refuted a key point of last week’s ABC News report about the edits to the Benghazi talking points — specifically, the role of then-Deputy National Security Adviser for Strategic Communications Ben Rhodes wanting to protect the State Department’s interests.

TheBlaze notes the email obtained by CNN from Rhodes contains no mention of the State Department, as opposed to what ABC reported Rhodes wrote; “We must make sure that the talking points reflect all agency equities, including those of the State Department, and we don’t want to undermine the FBI investigation.”

These two scandals along with ongoing revelations in the investigation of how the administration handled the September 11, 2012, attacks in Benghazi on a U.S. consulate, have rocked Washington, with many in the media and both parties on Capitol Hill criticizing the White House.

Congressional Republicans and Democrats challenged Holder in often testy exchanges Wednesday over the DOJ’s handling of the investigation of national security leaks and its failure to talk to The Associated Press before issuing subpoenas. Holder repeated that he had recused himself from the investigation before the AP probe, but defended the department’s inquiry. Holder also faced questions on the discovery late last week that the IRS had been targeting conservative groups for over 18 months.

“I simply don’t know,” Holder commented on his knowledge of the scope of the IRS misconduct. As of now, investigators believe the political targeting began at IRS offices in the Cincinnati area. “We’ve only begun our investigation. … We will be appropriately aggressive and let the facts take us where they may.”

Obama’s seeming lack of awareness of these three major issues prompted Glenn Beck to ask the question: Is there anything the president does know?

“Arrogance, fundamental transformation and intimidation” are all at play, according to Beck, in terms of the administration’s involvement with Benghazi, the IRS investigations and the recent AP-phone records seizure.

Combined, Beck coined the term “intimogate” to characterize the administration’s penchant for intimidating the media, whistle blowers, and those with dissenting political opinions.

Perhaps it is just “the Chicago way.”

Regarding the White House’s seizure of AP phone records, Beck noted that the administration “has so profoundly changed our government and what we know about our rights… that even the executive director of the AP isn’t even sure if they [Obama administration] broke the law.”

Based on the administration’s actions, Beck asked how AP journalists could ever feel comfortable reporting the truth when they will have to fear retribution from the White House.

“This president has prosecuted more whistle-blowers,” Beck added, “than all other presidents” combined. And those who criticize the president are targeted.

So does the right hand really not know what the left hand is doing?

Given the number of advisers, staffers and top aides at the president’s disposal, it seems unlikely:

Beck contends that more than just indicating the administration’s corruption, the three scandals are all part of a bigger goal to “fundamentally transform the United States of America,” in the words of President Obama.

And though the president has claimed there is no scandal surrounding Benghazi and that he was ignorant of the acts taken by the IRS and the DOJ, Beck didn’t buy it.

“It’s absolutely incomprehensible.  There’s no way.  There’s no way he didn’t know,” Beck said.  “But I want to go back to the name of the scandals.  We have Benghazi, IRS, and the AP.  I tried to figure out what these things were really all about –in the end what do these three scandals have in common?”

“What they have in common is the arrogance of transforming the world,” Beck contended.

Benghazi:

Beck began with Benghazi, focusing partly on reports that we were running guns to Syrian rebels.

“In Benghazi he was transforming the Middle East. He wanted to run guns, support the Muslim Brotherhood and Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia was the one who asked us to support the Muslim Brotherhood in Syria. So support the Muslim Brotherhood in the entire Middle East, run guns to the Muslim Brotherhood through Turkey into Syria and cede revolution, not just in Syria but all throughout the Middle East,” he began.

“This is the transformation of the Middle East. That’s his policy. He has allow a few coworkers to die on the list…Remember that. We have to come back to that. ‘If we just, if we have to allow a few coworkers to die, that’s okay.’ He’s also transforming the military and the State Department, the CIA, and the fundamental way that we have felt at least that we have run on general honesty and decency. We know that not everybody in the military is a good guy…but generally we have felt in the past that generally they’re trying to do the right thing and we’re not going to leave people on the battlefield. If it is worth doing, we do it right.”

​Internal Revenue Service:

Beck argued that the IRS targeting conservative groups and pro-Israel organizations is about “transforming political consent” and stifling the First Amendment.

“He knows he can’t come out and say, ‘Hey, we’re going to have to shut down all political dissent.  You can’t go out and protest, you can’t speak out against me, you can’t speak out against the government.’  He knows he can’t do that.  They tried.  Remember how much trouble [we had] trying to get everything locked down with Restoring Honor in Washington [with the Department of Justice]?…They made it almost impossible for us to do it.  What were they doing?  [That's] your right to freely assemble.  Your right to address your grievances directly to government.  Your right to come together and protest.  That’s First Amendment.  Trying to transform it.”

Beck noted that soon after the Benghazi attack President Obama said at the United Nations that people have asked him why we don’t just “ban” offensive videos, which he was at the time blaming for the attack.

“‘Let’s just ban free speech?’ Beck mocked.  “Nobody would say that.  [Obama's] saying what he’s thinking.  And maybe his circle of friends, [but] you need a new circle of friends, Mr. President.”

“So the IRS is about transforming political dissent, first through nudge.  ‘Read the Huffington Post.  Read Al‑Jazeera.’  …Then he starts to shove you.  And the shove is, ‘You speak out, I’m going to smear your reputation… [Then] shoot.  This scandal is about shoot,” Beck said, paraphrasing: “I’m actually going to use the union thugs to beat you, and I’m also going to destroy your life and finance through the IRS.  I will destroy you.  I will bankrupt you.”

Beck contended that the Associated Press having two months of phone records secretly seized by the Department of Justice is “the final piece of transformation for the media.”

“They went to the AP and they said, ‘Tell us your source.’  …I want you to hear this fact clearly.  This president has gone after and is prosecuting more whistleblowers than all of the other presidents combined in American history.  By the way, he’s had five years,” Beck said.  “Understand that’s during the Communist hunts.  That’s during Vietnam.  That includes all of World War II, all of World War I and Woodrow Wilson.  That includes Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War.  All other presidents combined.  So he’s already done an effective job in shutting people up.”

Beck tied it to the recent story about the Saudi national once considered a “person of interest” in the Boston bombings.

“This is why when we come to you and we have one piece of paper for a 212(3)(B), this is why you can’t get more because these guys know they will go to jail for 20 years.  They know their life will be destroyed.  Their reputation will be destroyed; they’ll never work again.  Their life will be destroyed.  Financially they will turn them inside out,” Beck said.  “And on top of that, we have other whistleblowers that won’t go on the record who have told us all kinds of things but won’t allow us to go on the record yet, won’t show us the actual pieces because they’re afraid for their life.  Where did that come from?  This president has prosecuted more whistleblowers than all other presidents combined.  The president himself I believe said in 2006 or 7…Anybody who doesn’t agree with transparency, anybody who is involved in silencing people has something to hide.  That’s President Barack Obama’s own words.”

Big Picture:

“First you threaten the watchdogs. You tell the watchdogs, you shut up or you’re going to jail. And those who break through and show that they’re brave enough, you have to show them how aggressive you’re willing to get,” Beck summarized. “You have to show them, ‘I’m going to go around the Constitution because I have that kind of power. I’m not afraid. The press is more on my side than your side. They’ll shut up and so I will go after and I will find you!’”

“At the same time they’re threatening reporters by showing the reporters, they have 20 phone lines. All of the reporters know ‘The government knows who I have talked to, the government knows when I talk to them,’” he concluded. “I can guarantee you there’s a lot of reporters that were on those phone lines talking to sources that are now going, ‘Oh, crap.’ It’s complete.”

“This is the last part of the fundamental transformation. What do all of these have in common?” Beck asked. “Transformation: Transform the Middle East, transform the First Amendment, and transform the media and the watchdogs. [The] fundamental transformation of the United States of America.”

Congressional investigations and media pressure have continued to be directed at the administration as it struggles to explain its reaction to the September 11, 2012 attack of a U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. An explosive admission Friday has led to intense media coverage through the weekend and early week on the IRS, which has been revealed to have been targeting conservative groups for at least the last 18 months. And just this Monday, the Associated Press reported that the Department of Justice had secretly seized two months worth of telephone records from reporters and editors working for the global news organization.

On ‘Real News’ Tuesday the panel was joined by CATO law expert Trevor Burrus to discuss the scandals, how they should be investigated, and explain what legal consequences the White House and administration could face.

Report: Obama Administration Apologizes for Another National Security Leak

The DOJ claims it was trying to observe how the news organization gathered its information following the leak of classified data about a failed al-Qaeda plot last year.

It has been noted that because the probe was secret, it would have required the DOJ to have Attorney General Eric Holder’s signature to go forward with obtaining the records.

On Tuesday, Holder said that he had recused himself in June 2012 from involvement in the DOJ leak investigation that secretly acquired the records. The Washington Post reports: 

Holder said he testified in June 2012 that he was interviewed by the FBI in connection with the probe into a leak of classified information to the AP. “To avoid any potential appearance of a conflict of interest,” he said, “I recused myself from this matter.”

Since then, he said, the investigation has been conducted by the FBI under the direction of the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia and the supervision of the deputy attorney general, James M. Cole.

“The decision to seek media toll records in this investigation was made by the Deputy Attorney General consistent with Department regulations and policies,” the Justice Department said in a statement shortly before Holder made his remarks.

During Tuesday’s broadcast of  ‘Wilkow,’ Andrew and guests debated the media and legal aspects of the scandal.

Florida Republican U.S. House Member Trey Radel, a former broadcast journalist and newspaper owner, says the DOJ actions represent a threat to the first amendment, and both parties should rally behind an investigation to see how high up and extensive this goes.

Newspaper Association of America CEO Caroline Little says this is an example of government ignoring their own rules that they lay out for the press.

Amidst a new session of Congress that has been dominated by major attempts for legislative action on hot button issues like gun control and comprehensive challenges like immigration reform, not to mention three scandals that have eclipsed Washington this week, have there been attempts made and progress for the GOP we haven’t seen?

Member of The Congress of Racial Equality and Tea Party.net Chief Strategist Niger Innis told Wilkow Tuesday that progress has been made for conservatives in urban areas and among minorities, and both the national party and grass roots organizations have put forth a real effort to change the image of conservatism with these groups. As reported by TheBlaze Friday:

The Internal Revenue Service “inappropriately flagged” conservative political groups during the 2012 election to see if they were violating their tax-exempt status, a top IRS official said Friday.

Organizations were singled out because they included the words “tea party” or “patriot” in their applications for tax-exempt status, said Lois Lerner, who heads the IRS division that oversees tax-exempt groups.

In some cases, groups were asked for their list of donors, which violates IRS policy in most cases, she said.

In February 2012, TheBlaze received emails from several Tea Party groups alleging partisan and almost thuggish behavior on the part of the IRS. By March, several Republican senators and The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) were starting to ask questions about the IRS’ treatment of Tea Party groups, with 12 GOP senators sending a letter to IRS Commissioner Douglas Schulman questioning the nature of the relationship between the IRS and Tea Party.

Following the revelations over the last four days, at least a half dozen conservative groups are already lining up to sue the IRS.  The Wall Street Journal reports that the inspector general’s office has been conducting an audit of the IRS’s handling of the applications process and is expected to release a report this week.

The discussion of the scandal opened up each show on TheBlaze TV’s Monday evening lineup.

On ‘Real News’ Monday the panel was joined by David French of the ACLJ to discuss the bombshell IRS revelations and subsequent reactions by the White House and Republicans.

Andrew Wilkow’s opening monologue focused on the report, and was joined later on the show by leaders from Tea Party groups targeted by the IRS: Eric Wilson from Kentucky 9/12 Project and Tom Zawistowski, former president of the Ohio Liberty Coalition.

In fact, President Obama on Monday called reports that the IRS targeted conservative groups “outrageous” and said anyone responsible should be held accountable. 

On Monday evening, Glenn Beck, along with Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel for the American Center for Law and Justice, explored the administration’s contradictions and assertions that it knew nothing about the government agency’s probe into conservative groups.

Contradicting claims that the administration only just became aware of the event, Sekulow told Beck on Monday evening that the White House Counsel’s office was notified of the IRS issue three weeks ago.

Toby Marie Walker of the Waco Tea Party was also on the program to explain what happened after she applied for tax status. She said the IRS repeatedly sent letters — some asking for what she described as  unreasonable information — and given less than 90 days to reply. The due date on many of the letters was September 11.

“We’re talking about minuscule amounts of money.”

Maria Acosta, of the Central Texas 9/12 Project had a similar experience. What made her “shake her head,” however, was that the IRS asked for login details to her organization’s website. The login details would of course give the government access to all behind the scenes operations and information about the 9/12 group’s daily affairs.

Beck noted that he was in fact surprised that the White House apologized for the fact that the IRS targeted the Tea Party groups, but questioned their purported lack of knowledge about the events beforehand.

Recall that even back in 2012 it was revealed that high-ranking IRS officials knew that conservative groups were being inappropriately targeted. This is an entire year before another official denied such targeting was going on. The terms: tea party, patriot, or 9/12 were honed in on for attack, Beck said.

Perhaps in an effort to distance himself from the issue, the president qualified that the IRS is independent of the White House.

The IRS, which also targeted a pro-Israel group, said it only did this because of threats of terrorism in America. Yet Muslim Brotherhood front groups are allowed to conduct their daily affairs free of scrutiny.

“A Chicago crime syndicate [is] running our country right now.”

On Saturday night’s episode, a “Benghazi whistle-blower” played by Matt Fisher details where he’s been since September to TheBlaze’s Brian Sack.

“Well…as luck would have it, right after the attack, Secretary of State Clinton called me and informed me that I’d won a luxury cruise!  She said that there had been some sort of contest at the State Department — and I don’t remember even entering it — but sure enough, I won!” he said.

Sack skeptically asked: “And how long was this cruise?”

“It went from that day, Sept. 12, until the day after the presidential election so it was a typical, 61-day cruise,” Fisher confidently responded.

From there, Sack asked the “whistle-blower” to detail what he saw the night of the attack.

“A group of individuals was attacking the compound,” he said.  “They were saying things like, ‘We are Al-Qaeda staff members!’…”

“So you didn’t think it was a demonstration that turned violent about some kind of YouTube video?” Sack confirmed.

“Not after I snapped this picture that I emailed to the Secretary of State,” Fisher responded, showing an image of a mob holding a sign reading,” This has nothing to do with the YouTube video.”

As luck would have it though, Clinton “couldn’t open the email attachment” because it didn’t properly go through.

Glenn Beck opened his radio program Monday morning bristling with indignation over the IRS’ admission that it targeted conservative groups around the 2012 election.

“We have to talk about the IRS inquisition, and I think that’s exactly what it is, and I think that’s what it needs to be called from here on out,” Beck began.  “What was the inquisition? ‘Submit! Submit! Answer these questions and submit!’”

Beck continued, saying the federal government has employed intimidation methods for years against private groups and the press alike.

“…At the same time that they were denying that were leading an attack on me when I was over at Fox [News]…there were five, five boycotts orchestrated by this White House to discredit, smear, and force advertisers off the air.  It had nothing to do with what I said; it had everything to do with fear and intimidation because I stood against the White House,” Beck said.  “And at the same time they were denying that, and saying it was a conspiracy that they were targeting the 9/12 Project, anything with ‘patriot’ in the name, anything with ‘Tea Party’ in the name.”

Beck then unveiled some of the new information surrounding the scandal: “They were also targeting anyone who taught the Constitution and — I love this one — anybody who said ['America can be a better place.']  That’s incredible…”

Beck proceeded with a chilling reminder: “So you know, America, if you don’t pay attention to what they did with the IRS and Benghazi, next year your healthcare goes to the IRS.  Next year, this administration’s universal health care employs the IRS, so now you have to turn over all your medical records to the IRS.  If you don’t think they won’t use that to sort people and to intimidate — and to take away your guns, quite honestly — why?  …What have they done that has proven them trustworthy?  And I don’t say this just about the President of the United States, but about the Republicans as well.”

“They also targeted Jewish groups,” Beck said, explaining exactly why “inquisition” is a fitting description for the IRS’ actions.

Later in the program, Beck spoke with Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel at the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), whose organization has represented 27 Tea Party groups from 18 states in the issue.

Some of the groups have simply thrown up their hands and said it’s not worth it, having spent years battling the IRS, Sekulow said.  For others, the ACLJ has hit back and pointed out all the reasons the IRS is not entitled to the wildly personal information it was improperly demanding.

“I used to work for that office, Chief Counsel of the IRS, [and] the tax exempt group is specially trained, these are not low-level bureaucrats,” Sekulow said, warning against adopting the narrative that the IRS has put out.

Putting the issue in context, he added: “This is worse [than under President Nixon] because this isn’t only tax information and selective prosecution, this is going after the people who supported these organizations by going after their donor lists.  It’s more than Nixon did by a long stretch.”

Sekulow said they are drafting complaints against the federal government and the agents involved “right now, today.”

But two things need to happen immediately, he said.  Pending groups that have been battling the IRS at their own expense need to get recognition, and those responsible to be held accountable.

“Congress needs to have extensive hearings, and we’re looking right now at federal court action against the individuals involved in this,” he said.  “I think heads are going to roll..but the question is what the White House knew and when they knew it…”

The Treasury Department’s inspector general for tax administration is expected to release the results of a nearly yearlong investigation sometime in the coming week, a draft of which obtained by the Associated Press indicates that a number of senior IRS officials knew about the “targeting” as early as 2011.

ABC News, meanwhile, has obtained documents indicating the IRS began targeting conservative groups as far back as 2010, “and that senior IRS officials in Washington have known about it for almost two years.”

During a Monday morning press conference, President Obama said he learned about the issue when the public did several days ago, adding that he will not “tolerate” such corruption.

Conservatives argue though that Wednesday’s hearing brought to light key revelations about the timeline of events leading up to and immediately after the Benghazi attack, as well as holes in our intelligence and security operations abroad and in the State Department. Council on Foreign Relations Fellow Elliot Abrams writes on the Wall Street Journal opinion page:

The three witnesses seemed to be visitors from a different reality—different from Rep. Carolyn Maloney and her outrage that anyone could criticize the great Secretary Clinton, or from Cheryl Mills and the anger she expressed at Mr. Hicks for allowing a congressman to escape the presence of the lawyer she had sent.

The Accountability Review Board was also part of that Washington culture, protecting the top levels of the State Department—the secretary and the deputy and under secretaries—and laying blame (and punishment) on the career people below them. This hearing did not ascertain where the buck should stop, but it was a step forward in getting the facts.

Michael Hirsh, however, writes in the National Journal that the hearings revealed tragic incompetence on the part of the Obama administration, but no coverup:

All this will no doubt come back to haunt Hillary Clinton should she decide to run for president; in some cases, she appeared to have been too removed from the  events in Benghazi. Hicks at one point testified that that he personally spoke to Clinton at 2 a.m. on the night of the attacks, which makes the administration’s vague description in subsequent days even more suspicious.

But that hardly adds up to a cover-up. In the end, Darrell Issa, R-Calif., the chairman of the committee, may find himself digging yet another dry well, as he has done so many times.

Immigration reform is a contentious issue in today’s political arena. To discuss Christians’ role and views on comprehensive reform, a panel of Evangelical experts weighed in on the subject during Thursday evening’s episode of the Glenn Beck Program.

For his part, Richard Land, president of the Ethics & Religious Liberties Commission, said he is all in favor for comprehensive immigration reform but does not support amnesty. Learning to speak English, passing a background check, waiting at least 13 to 17 years.

“That may be many things, but amnesty it is not,” Land said of the 11 million illegal immigrants currently residing in the U.S. While some tell Land that it is “wrong to break the law” his response is that it is equally wrong to “not enforce the law” for all of these years.

Yuri Mantilla of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference said, as human beings “created in God’s image,” the issue of immigration should transcend borders. However, due to the sinful nature of people, Mantilla maintains that it is important to secure the border and build fences while at the same time giving opportunities to those 11 million here in the U.S.

Providing a counterbalance was Rick Scarborough, president of Vision American. His view is that America must be a country of laws and believes that amnesty (his view of immigration reform), the “essence of what America is a bit is eroded to a degree.”

The country, Scarborough maintained, was founded by Christians who struggled about how to build the best government possible — which in turn meant “less government.”

“I find it disappointing that we are turning to government for a solution to this.”

Jim Robb, vice president of operations for NumbersUSA, believes immigration reform is an “ill-considered” idea.

“Unfortunately, all the 11 millions who are not felons will be legalized in six months. It’s irrevocable unless they are felons…it’s not called a green card yet but its a provisional legalization that, according to the law…cannot be revoked.”

Beck said his position is informed by his faith, which states that people deserve a chance, and even help from the faith community, but must go through proper legal channels.

The panel then went on to debate the ins and outs of comprehensive immigration reform, from work permits to self-deportation:

• An amendment mandating that specific portions of the southwest border be fenced with double-layered fencing, along with the funding to do it.
• Amendments that would increase the number of background checks that immigrants are subject to as they go through the process to make sure they do not violate the criminal/national security grounds for eligibility.
• Amendments that go after immigrants who commit welfare fraud, and by extension, those that create a rebuttable presumption that an immigrant is a public charge if they accept state and local welfare benefits.

Rubio’s offerings are clearly taking aim at conservative critics of the bill, focusing on bolstering security milestones and clarifying the denial of welfare benefits. The Florida Senator has worked overtime to convince critics of the bill that it is the right thing to do and that anything short of it falls into what some have termed “neo-isolationism”. Rubio pokes further, suggesting that immigration reform would help prevent future terror attacks by putting more standardized and streamlined checks into place. He argues that safety and openness go hand-in-hand, not the opposite; which some say hints isolationism.

These comments, and others made by Rubio during this immigration reform debate, have knocked down the once golden boy a peg among some conservatives.

On “Real News“ Thursday, the panel discussed Rubio’s comments, the sharpening immigration debate dialog and how one defines isolationism as the term that has found its way in talking points to demean those that question the Senate bill.

If you think human sex trafficking is something found in Mexico, you’d be right. But if you think it’s something only found south of the border and not in America, you’d be dangerously wrong.

On Wednesday night, TheBlaze TV’s “For the Record” show revealed just how much the sex trafficking industry has seeped into America.

But before that show aired, Glenn Beck interviewed a former Mexican congresswoman who unfortunately knows all too well about the horrors the industry has wreaked on the women of Mexico and America.

Meet Rosi Orozco. She’s been fighting the sex slave industry in Mexico for years. But she’s also sounding the alarm of how the industry is moving into America from across the border. She explained how for some it’s as easy as using a tunnel, and even detailed how one of the “most dangerous” pimps was caught after setting up shop in Atlanta, GA.

Still, her most disturbing story involved that of a 9-year-old girl. That girl was taken by a group in Baja California in 2010.

“She was dancing in a church. She is a beautiful, beautiful creature — a beautiful human being,” she explained.

According to Orozco, the police investigation has indicated she was abducted and sold to a some men in America.

In the wake of the Benghazi hearings that took place Wednesday, Glenn Beck compared key aspects of the day’s testimony with statements and actions made by then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, President Obama and others at the time the events were first unfolding. 

Beck noted that America’s policy is not to stand against terror, but rather to stand specifically against al-Qaeda, as that, too is Saudi Arabia’s policy. This means that militant Islamic groups like the Muslim Brotherhood which spearheaded the Arab Spring, are overlooked. 

The problem is that the Muslim Brotherhood is the grandfather of all Islamic jihadist groups. 

Meanwhile, there is speculation abound that Ambassador Chris Stevens was the point-man in a U.S.-led gun-running scheme to arm militants seeking to overthrow Gaddhafi.

Those very militants armed by the U.S., we now know, were al-Qaeda operatives — the same perpetrators of the carnage at the U.S. diplomatic outpost in Benghazi. 

All the while, the former Secretary of State failed to send assistance to the Americans abroad in Libya even after it was requested repeatedly, a congressional panel found.

Thus, the plot thickens.

Saudi Arabia asked the U.S. to support the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.

“Why again are we in bed with the Muslim Brotherhood?” Beck asked. ”Saudi Arabia.”

Only a scant few lawmakers have spoken out in this time against The case of Benghazi, Beck noted, goes deeper than politics. Rather, “it’s all about ideology.” 

So, following Wednesday’s hearings, whose stories should Americans believe?

Comparing side by side, Beck noted that the administration stopped the military from intervening to save Ambassador Stevens and the other Americans in jeopardy. 

Whistleblowers at Wednesday’s hearings included Gregory Hicks, former deputy chief of mission in Libya, Mark Thompson acting deputy assistant secretary for counterterrorism at the U.S. State Department, and Eric Nordstrom, a security officer in Libya.

In response to Hillary Clinton’s assessment that the YouTube video was to blame for the onslaught, Hicks said that he was “stunned.”

“My jaw dropped. I was embarrassed,” he added.

Comparing side-by-side even further Beck began with Clinton’s most infamous statement to date:

“We have four dead Americans,” Clinton said at a previous hearing. “Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night and decided they’d go kill some Americans? What difference, at this point, does it make?” 

Nordstrom, choked up with emotion, responded at Wednesday’s hearings in kind:

“It matters. It matters to me personally, and it matters to my colleagues at the Department of State,” he began.

“It matters to the American public for whom we serve. And most importantly, it matters to the friends and family of Ambassador Stevens, Sean Smith, Glenn Doherty, Tyrone Woods who were murdered on September 11, 2012.”

In yet another comparison  Beck noted that just last week, the White House said that no agency had been blocked from speaking with members of Congress about the Benghazi attacks.

Hicks, however, said that he was “instructed not to allow the RSO, the acting deputy chief of mission and myself to be personally interviewed by Congressman Chaffetz.”

Hicks became the top-ranking diplomat in Libya after the death of Ambassador Christopher Stevens, and told the House committee Wednesday how he learned of the events on September 11, 2012. TheBlaze reports:

When it began, he received a call from Stevens in Benghazi telling him, “Greg, we’re under attack.”

Stevens subsequently went missing, and Hicks described how he tried to get help to evacuate his colleagues. Hicks estimated there were as many as 60 attackers in the compound at one time.

Hicks spoke with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton around 2 a.m. local time to give her an update. At 3 a.m., he received a call from the Libyan prime minister informing him that Stevens was dead.

“I think it’s the saddest phone call I’ve ever received in my life,” he said.

During the hearing South Carolina Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy read aloud a previously unreleased email sent by a State Department official identifying a terrorist group as the perpetrators of the Benghazi attack.

“Some of these emails, even though they are not been classified, have not been released,” Gowdy explained. “Including the one I am about to read from.”

“I spoke to the Libyan ambassador and emphasized the importance of Libyan leaders continuing to make strong statements,” the email read. “When he said his government expected that former Ghadafi regime elements carried out the attacks, I told him that the group that conducted the attacks, Ansar al-Sharia, is affiliated with Islamic terrorists.”

As Islamists grow in strength under the stewardship of the Muslim Brotherhood, their crusade to purge Egypt of its Coptic Christian community by way of persecution, harassment, rapes, forced conversions and outright slaughter has stepped up its intensity.  

Yet the mainstream media has all but ignored that roughly 100,000 Christian Copts have fled their native land due to the “Arab Spring.”

“For The Record” will feature first-hand accounts from brave men and women inside Egypt who have risked their own lives to shed light on how women are being kidnapped and raped, while children taken from their parents. 

In fact, a mass-exodus of Christians from Islamic countries is currently underway. Coptic Christian Raymond Ibrahim, who chronicles the community’s persecution in his new book, “Crucified Again: Exposing Islam’s New War on Christians reported Tuesday that millions of Christians are “being displaced from one end of the Islamic world to the other.”

“We are reliving the true history of how the Islamic world, much of which prior to the Islamic conquests was almost entirely Christian, came into being,” he wrote. 

Even the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom noted that “the flight of Christians out of the region is unprecedented and it’s increasing year by year.”  

It went on to state that “Christians might disappear altogether from Iraq, Afghanistan, and Egypt.”

The first of those countries, Iraq, indeed has seen a drastic decline in its Christian population from roughly one million in 2003 to fewer than 400,000.

This is a result of churches being bombed while Christians are actually beheaded and crucified by Islamists.   

But the persecution of Christians in the Middle East and Maghreb is but one example of horrific human rights abuses. Delving into the matter even further, “For The Record” will also expose the multi-billion dollar human trafficking industry.

As vulnerable minors are forced into sexual slavery, people thought the problem was relegated only to far-off countries with histories of human rights abuses.

New reports, however, reveal that this dark world has even reached the shores of the U.S.

“For The Record” will feature the stories of two young girls who were kidnapped and forced into the sex-trade, providing a sobering account of a struggle few can imagine.

According to excerpts released Monday, Hicks told investigators that SOCAFRICA commander Lt. Col. Gibson and his team were on their way to board a C-130 from Tripoli for Benghazi prior to an attack on a second U.S. compound “when [Col. Gibson] got a phone call from SOCAFRICA which said, ‘you can’t go now, you don’t have the authority to go now.’ And so they missed the flight … They were told not to board the flight, so they missed it.”

No assistance arrived from the U.S. military outside of Libya during the hours that Americans were under attack or trapped inside compounds by hostile forces armed with rocket-propelled grenades, mortars and AK-47 rifles.

Hicks told congressional investigators that if the U.S. had quickly sent a military aircraft over Benghazi, it might have saved American lives. The U.S. Souda Bay Naval Base is an hour’s flight from Libya.

“I believe if we had been able to scramble a fighter or aircraft or two over Benghazi as quickly as possible after the attack commenced, I believe there would not have been a mortar attack on the annex in the morning because I believe the Libyans would have split. They would have been scared to death that we would have gotten a laser on them and killed them,” Hicks testified. Two Americans died in the morning mortar attack.

During an interview with CBS , Hicks says that everyone knew Benghazi was a terrorist attack “from the get-go.”

As Washington braces for the hearing Wednesday, the Benghazi attack, response and investigation is once again turning into a major scandal that conservatives lament Obama dodged in the fall shortly after the attack and amidst the presidential campaign. Jim Geraghty notes though in his column on the conservative National Review Online that Republicans should go into the hearings dedicated strictly to unearthing facts, rather than showboating.

Dear Republicans on the House Oversight Committee:

Please do not grandstand. Please do not take the time before the television cameras to tell us how outraged you are, even though what you are investigating is, indeed, outrageous. There will be plenty of time for that after the hearing. All day Wednesday, give us the facts, and then more facts, and then more facts….

While friends, family and Americans across the nation are rejoicing that the women are alive and in relatively stable physical condition, one question still burns in everyone’s mind: How could those who lived on the same street as the captors not have known something was awry for all these years?

On his Tuesday evening broadcast, Glenn Beck noted how strong the women must be to have weathered the mental and emotional trauma for over a decade. Talking about their strength, Beck said, “there is something in the human spirit that gets us through all of the madness.”

Still, he noted that people must remain vigilant and truly get to know their neighbors. “Make human connections,” Beck said before adding that it is also a good idea to familiarize oneself with his or her local law enforcement. The abduction took place within a few miles of where the women were eventually found.

But what about those who do take time to get to know their neighbors? Just as now-national hero Charles Ramsey did with at least one the kidnap suspects, Ariel Castro?

Ramsey, who rescued the captives, has become a local celebrity. In his many interviews, he noted that when he first moved next door to the suspect one year ago, he had a suspicious feeling about the house, but dismissed it. Ramsey later went on to barbecue and listen to music with his neighbor, thinking Castro was a normal everyday person, never having a clue that a house of horrors lie within. 

“We should listen more than we speak. When the spirit wells up on you don’t push it down and dismiss it.”

• Three women were found alive Monday in the same Cleveland neighborhood where they had disappeared in 2002, 2003, and 2004 respectively. 
• At the time of their discovery, and possibly throughout their entire abduction, the women (now 32, 27, and 23) had been held against their will at the home of the now 52-year-old former bus driver Ariel Casto.
• Castro, along with brothers Pedro (54) and Onil (50), have been arrested and are now in the custody of authorities. 
• Along with the three women, a young child was also found in the home. Police say that she is the daughter of one of the women, with one of the Castro’s suspected to be the father. 
• Police say they found chains and bondage in the basement of the home.
• Local media outlets report that the women were forced to have sex with their captors, resulting in up to five pregnancies, with investigators saying the pregnancies were ended by the captors beating the women. 
• Police were alerted to the abduction after one of the women escaped Monday night and called the police from a neighbors house.

Conservatives argue that the 20-year congressman and the longtime member of the House Financial Services Committee is partially to blame for the subprime lending mess. 

“I could not be more disappointed in this nomination. This gives new meaning to the adage that the fox is guarding the hen house,” Republican Senator Bob Corker said in a statement on the nomination. “The debate around his nomination will illuminate for all Americans why Fannie and Freddie failed so miserably.”

“Before any nominee should be considered for this post, regardless of their qualifications, the administration should explicitly lay out how they will unwind these entities.”

That’s the dire conclusion of David Stockman, Ronald Reagan’s former director of the Office of Management and Budget, who is out with a new book: “The Great Deformation: The Corruption of Capitalism in America.”

“We have been in a bubble I believe for the last 20 or 30 years, we have a central bank that is now totally out of control, printing money like never before, violating every principle of sound money,” Stockman told TheBlaze senior contributor Mallory Factor in  video interview (below). “Our budget has really become a doomsday machine. Nothing is really in sight thats going to slow down the red ink.” 

“You sound like Ron Paul,” Factor told Stockman.

Stockman notes that he agrees with the Libertarian-Republican on a lot of things, especially the pledge that “we cannot borrow, and inflate and print our way to prosperity,”as we’ve been doing.

“There’s plenty of blame to go around, its bipartisan,” Stockman said. Obama came in with a terrible economic condition because of Bush, according to Stockman, “Remember Bush created massive deficits during peace time.”

Stockman, a former Congressman himself, says Republicans are just as guilty as the Democrats. The former OMB Director noted that while speeches from each party may sound different, what Democrats and Republicans do in the White House is “indistinguishable.”

“There isn’t a lot of hope that things are going to change in the near term when both parities say things that aren’t true,” Stockman said. Democrats wrongly say social security is not part of the problem. Republicans say defense is not part of the problem.

In his book Stockman says that big investment banks are a major part of the problem. The 2008 bailouts were unnecessary, it wouldn’t have spread to the banks across the country, Stockman told TheBlaze.

The Reagan official said FED Chairman Ben Bernanke pushed this, and he is “false scholar” of the great depression. The Great Depression was not caused by the FED, no matter what Bernanke continues, Stockman argued.

Of the banks left standing after 2008, Stockman says Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are among the worst. Stockman believes the banks shouldn’t have been bailed out, and should have went to chapter 11.Why did theses banks skate by? Stockman said that Goldman Sachs occupying the Treasury Department at the time did not hurt.

A whole generation of people in finance have been a part of this bubble, Stockman told TheBlaze.

The former OMB director defines “crony capitalism” as the opposite of free market capitalism. It’s where you use the instruments of government to effect and alter results that would otherwise occur in the free market, Stockman said Monday.

“If we do this long enough we basically disable the free market.”

His remarks came on the heels of the National Rifle Association convention, which draws support from conservatives across the country.

So what, exactly, did Obama mean by telling young Americans to relinquish their vigilance?

On his Monday evening broadcast, Glenn Beck took note of the president’s divisive comments and said he wanted to, instead, “unite” people on the “few things” that actually bring everyone together: The notion that people can believe in governments while at the same time knowing that they can become corrupt.

“Is that why he’s [Obama] OK with taking guns away from law-abiding citizens?” Beck asked. “Because we are safe? Or is it something else?”

“The potential always exists” for tyranny, he added.

Fox News reports that three career State Department officials and self-described ‘whistle-blowers” will appear: Gregory Hicks, the deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Libya at the time of the attacks; Mark Thompson, a former Marine now the deputy coordinator for Operations in the agency’s Counterterrorism Bureau; and Eric Nordstrom, a diplomatic security officer who was the regional security officier in Libya.

CBS News has released excerpts from an interview with Hicks where he says a team of U.S. Special Forces was prepared to fly from Tripoli to Benghazi to fend off attacks on September 11, but was expressly forbidden from doing so under orders from the U.S. Special Operations Command South Africa. 

Hicks told congressional investigators that if the U.S. had quickly sent a military aircraft over Benghazi, it might have saved American lives. The U.S. Souda Bay Naval Base is an hour’s flight from Libya.

“I believe if we had been able to scramble a fighter or aircraft or two over Benghazi as quickly as possible after the attack commenced, I believe there would not have been a mortar attack on the annex in the morning because I believe the Libyans would have split. They would have been scared to death that we would have gotten a laser on them and killed them,” Hicks testified. Two Americans died in the morning mortar attack.

TheBlaze notes that Hicks’s account of the ‘stand down’ order directly conflicts with the Obama administrations official account of events surrounding the attack. During an interview with CBS released in excerpts on “Face the Nation,” Hicks says that everyone knew Benghazi was a terrorist attack “from the get-go.”

“Everybody in the mission” in Benghazi, Libya, thought the attack on a U.S. consulate there last Sept. 11 was an act of terror “from the get-go,” according to excerpts of an interview investigators conducted with the No. 2 official in Libya at the time, obtained by CBS News’ “Face the Nation.”

“I think everybody in the mission thought it was a terrorist attack from the beginning,” Greg Hicks, a 22-year foreign service diplomat who was the highest-ranking U.S. official in Libya after the strike, told investigators under authority of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

Hicks says of his superior in Libya, the slain Ambassador Chris Stevens:

For there to have been a demonstration on Chris Stevens’s front door and him not to have reported it is unbelievable,” he said. “I never reported a demonstration; I reported an attack on the consulate. Chris – Chris’s last report, if you want to say his final report – is, ‘Greg, we are under attack.’

“…I’ve never been as embarrassed in my life, in my career, as on that day,” Hicks continued in his interview with investigators. “The net impact of what has transpired is, [Rice,] the spokesperson of the most powerful country in the world, has basically said that the president of Libya is either a liar of doesn’t know what he’s talking about. ….My jaw hit the floor as I watched this.”

The conservative think-tank finds that the bill would cost taxpayers $6.3 trillion in new spending on entitlements and social programs. The Heritage Foundation has not found praise though for the study from all their usually fans. POLITICO reports that Rep. Paul Ryan says the study ignores the economic growth that would be created by immigration reform, and former Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour calls it a “political document” designed to create alarming headlines. 

Supporters of the bill had said at the end of April that they believe they could secure up to 70 yes votes for their reform plan. Now POLITICO reports as many as two dozen Republican Senators could support the bill for a “show-of-force majority.” These supporters are said to likely come from more liberal states but also usually conservative bastions like Utah, Georgia and Wyoming. 

Former South Carolina Senator and current Heritage Foundation President Jim DeMint joined ‘Wilkow!’ Monday to discuss the new study on the total cost of immigration reform, the critics, and what the right way to reform our immigration system should be. DeMint emphasized we need to focus on helping Americans and those who come here lawfully, and our immigration system should not be a foreign aid system.

“The President clearly is not connecting the economic dots here,” DeMint said Monday. “There is no way that this amnesty bill is going to help the American people. In fact, it’s going to add to their taxes and add to their debt.”

Rather than an attempt to tip the scales against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Israel’s action is seen more as part of its own conflict with Iran, which it fears is sending missiles to Hezbollah in Lebanon through Syria. Those missiles might hit Tel Aviv if Israel makes good on threats to attack Tehran’s nuclear program.

Another Western intelligence source told Reuters the latest attack, like the previous one, was directed against stores of Fateh-110 missiles in transit from Iran to Hezbollah.

While the Administration has said they supported the move by Israel, the close ally reportedly did not seek permission from the U.S. before launching the missile strikes. Syria has declared Israel’s attack an act of war.

On the Heritage Foundation’s Foundry blog Thursday, Amy Payne lays out in detail five ways the immigration bill is like Obamacare: extreme costs, false promises, we’ll have to pass it to see what’s in it, piles on already broken and broke entitlement programs, and gives perks to special interests.

In an op-ed for The Denver Post, Heritage’s Mike Gonzalez writes that while considering this massive immigration reform bill we cannot overlook who we let in and how they assimilate, especially considering the terrorist attack that took place in Boston the day before the bill’s release.

We didn’t just get lazy and stopped teaching immigrants (and natives) to love America; we decided to stop and made assimilation a dirty word that connoted coercion and loss of ancestral culture. This despite all the evidence that assimilation, as preached and practiced since the nation’s founding, was not coercive nor did it demand an end to St. Patrick’s Day parades or love of Italian cooking.

The North Carolina high school is certainly not the first to act with harsh punishment based off a zero policy stance when it comes to perceived weapons. A 16-year-old female student in Barlow, Florida, currently faces felony charges and was expelled after a 8-ounce water bottle containing a mix of household chemicals for a science project popped causing smoke and a small explosion.

Glenn Beck on Thursday announced a new partnership for TheBlaze TV with major Hollywood producer Gerald Molen, whose credits include “Jurassic Park,” “Schindler’s List” and last year’s “2016: Obama’s America.”

TheBlaze TV’s children’s education program “Liberty Treehouse” will start showcasing student work from “Sneak on the Lot,” an experiential curriculum for aspiring young filmmakers developed by Molen and partners Darrin Fletcher and Chet Thomas.

“We have abdicated all of the arts to the uber-left and then we just complain that our kids and our families are bombarded with lyrics and imagery and messages that are embarrassing at the worst and corrosive to everything that we stand for,” Beck said on his radio show.

“Sneak on the Lot” is currently taught in about 250 schools around the country, but the goal is to make it part of every school or home classroom, Beck said. In showcasing student work on “Liberty Treehouse,” TheBlaze TV audience will receive a behind-the-scenes look at the filmmaking process.

“We believe this is going to be a historic partnership,” Beck said. “The goal of this partnership is to find the next Jerry Molen, the next Steven Spielberg, and encourage the making of quality films that represent the true creative spirit of America. We are going to take back our culture through quality arts-based education.”
