Chicago Cardinal Francis George is finding himself in the middle of a potentially-flammable controversy after he made a comparison between the Ku Klux Klan and gay activists. Now, some gay rights enthusiasts are calling for the Catholic leader to step down. A press release from Truth Wins Out reads:
Truth Wins Out launched a Change.org petition today calling on Chicago Archbishop Cardinal Francis George to resign after he incomprehensibly compared the LGBT community to the Ku Klux Klan. George’s over-the-top remarks were so extreme that they shredded his credibility and permanently damaged his ability to serve as a respected voice of reason.

A screen shot of the Change.org petition
The controversy started during an interview with Fox Chicago on Wednesday when George apparently said, “You don’t want the gay liberation movement to morph into something like the Ku Klux Klan, demonstrating in the streets against Catholicism.”
During the interview, he admitted that the comparison was strong, but reiterated his views on the matter. “The rhetoric of the KKK and the rhetoric of some of the gay liberation people — Who is the enemy? The Catholic Church,” he continued.
The statements were in reference to frustrations that were being felt by a local pastor over region’s the annual gay pride parade. The faith leader claimed that the event, due to its route, would force the church to cancel morning mass, George said that he supported the pastor and his concerns.

In the end, the situation was rectified, as the parade’s organizers agreed to start at a different time. The Chicago Tribune has more:
On Wednesday, organizers with Chicago’s annual gay pride parade agreed to a later start time after Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church leaders objected to a newly-proposed route they claimed would block access to Sunday Masses. Leaders said the new route would draw massive crowds and block the church’s entrance.
Gay rights activists are extremely frustrated and offended by George’s comments. Equally Blessed, a coalition of Catholic groups that support LGBT rights, said that the statements were both “demagogic” and “crude.”
“Cardinal George’s offensive comments are further evidence of just how insensitive and out of touch the hierarchy is, and why opposition to its views is necessary,” the group wrote in a statement.
“It is outrageous that Cardinal George would place law-abiding, peaceful citizens in the same category as a notoriously violent hate group,” said Truth Wins Out’s Executive Director Wayne Besen. “George’s resignation is his only road to redemption and if he has a shred of dignity and a sliver of class he will immediately step down.”

Posted on December 23, 2011 at 11:48pmThe Cardinal needs to realize that in America ” anything goes.” Religion by polls is in fashion. And having any type of standards or rules is verboten. To the Left which has infected American thought ( witness the Obama Far Lefties ) “everyone, especially the more divergent, are just beautiful.“ Any one who says that something is ”immoral“ is just labelled as ” prejudiced.“ America is now a country where ” political correctness ” has replaced the 10 commandments and the Golden Rule. Many in the American Catholic Church would probably be considered heretical if the old rules were employed . In America, we are having an “unemployment” problem… economically and spiritually…

Posted on December 24, 2011 at 7:51amHe is absolutely right-and has NO reason to step down. This Cardinal is Not the one in need of redemption (IMO) The Gay Liberation Movement is very much like the Ku Klux Klan both spawned by a body politic intent upon the division caused by power intent upon giving a voice to those deemed without a voice. The Klan was formed I am told to keep the insurgent Republicans in control and to keep the recently freed slaves from leaving the Democratic plantation. But the tactics of the Gay Libs and the Klan are very similar. And neither society serves to improve the general welfare–but terrorism, and divisions are something the church ought oppose for these are not of God.

Posted on December 23, 2011 at 11:21pmGod forbid anyone be critical of the GLBT crowd. The guy has a point, they are clan-like, and the fact is, it could‘ve been any parade and the problem would’ve been the same. Any other group may have had the decency to change their plans once the conflict was realized – better yet they would’ve had the foresight to avoid such conflicts in the first place. But not the GLBT crowd – they‘re entitled to do as they please and will throw a major tantrum if they don’t get their way. How many repugnant comments are made against the church every day? Where’s the church screaming and crying for resignations of anyone whose said something against it? stfu ya little babies – you’ve chosen your path, deal with the fact that a lot of people don’t support you.

Posted on December 24, 2011 at 1:02pm@Betterdays – where in scripture did you find the word “unless” ??? Was it next to “alone”? Matt 25:31-46 is clear, Jesus will separate the sheep from the goats according to their works, doesn’t say anything about “unless” I know some preachers tickle our ears by telling us otherwise but that’s not what Jesus said. The weeds and the wheat will be separated, the weeds burned and the wheat carried into the barn (Matt 13:24-30). The Virgins with no oil in their lamps will not be allowed into the wedding (Matt 25:1-13), the worker who buries his talents will be cast out (Matt 5:14-30), the son who does his fathers will and goes to work in the fields is pleasing to the Father. Matt 25:31-46 “The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.“ You wont find the word ”unless” in any of these verses and there are many many more in Matt 7:21 Jesus said “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but ONLY he who DOES the will of my Father who is in heaven” (emphasis mine)….God Bless

Conservadom is based on Keeping Old Belief Traditions, alive. The ‘Sameness’.
Shirara means ‘Holy’. So, ALL Religions Posses a Shiara aspect, of keeping Traditions going.
The Christian Shiara Law does not Allow GLBT to get married, as an example. In some cases GLBT people are labled Outcasts, by the Christian Community, simply for being different. Witches and Pagans are still shunned, even though Christianty has MANY of the Same Holidays, and even Barrows MANY Pagan Traditions(Such as the Christmas Tree, the Yule Log, the Easter Bunny), Thanksgiving is even celebrated on an American Indian Holiday, following the AMerican Indian Traditions, of Feasting on the Harvests, before Winter.
The KKK wears the Uniform of the Old Catholics, Black Mass outfits. Hood and all.
The KKK was created to maintain a White Man Supremacy over ANY and ALL Minoritiies. ANyone who was Different, Religiously, Ethnicially, or even someone who was friendly towards someone ‘Different’, would get a Visit from the KKK who wanted “OutCasts” to leave their towns and Villages.
That Catholic Cardinal, should be Banned from Catholicism…unless of course, he ‘Represents’ ALL Catholics
Cardinals, Bishops, Priests are ALL in the Posistion of ‘Representation’, of the Catholic Religion. Just as Religious Leaders who are caught Molesting Children.

Report Post »Melvin Spittle
Posted on December 24, 2011 at 1:13pmI will answer. The two sides are diametrically opposed and must compromise on core beliefs which bytheir nature is impossible. Our founders were Christian before they founded this nation. Homosexuality has forced it’s way into all of our lives through illegitimate force of law. Do you actually think that man’s laws supersede the word and judgement of God? If you call yourself a Christian, then you know the answer that God will triumph in the end and those that mock Him by twisting His word will suffer His judgement. God has judged homosexuality already, not I nor you can change that.

Posted on December 23, 2011 at 10:16pmSure, neither group likes the Catholic church. But why compare them to the KKK? He could have easily picked other groups that dislike the church:
-Evangelical Protestants
-Atheists
-Westboro Baptist Church (they’re a bit further than most Evangelicals in their hatred)
Any of those are relatively non-militant, still confrontational and in-your-face, and don’t have the history of violence associated with the KKK. That he never chose any of them for the comparison shows the hatred in his own heart.

Posted on December 24, 2011 at 12:05pmCardinal George compared the GBLT to the KKK because both groups violently protest against the Church. The Church has always been hated by groups who promulgate lies. Communists, Nazis, KKK members, and the GBLT all promulgate lies and cannot stand in the light of the truth. The Church is the protector of truth and therefore they hate her. Same sex couples will never be married because marriage is a union of two people, one male, one female, in body and spirit that can potentially give new life. The Church will never change its teaching on this and the GBLT who so desperately want to normalize their perversions will never achieve moral approval. The Church responds to the attacks of the GBLT with love calling on them to reform for the sake of the salvation of their souls. When doctors and nurses shunned people with aids, it was the Catholic Church that provided the care. Cardinal O’Conner, himself, treated the sick and dying. He called on the nuns who were founded by Mother Theresa to open a home for the aids stricken which still exists today. The GBLT calls the Church hateful because it will not sanction the homosexual act. Even the Church cannot call that which is inherently evil good. It is beyond her power. So the GBLT will continue to hate the Church. It is interesting that a group like the GBLT wants approval from the Church. Is it because their own consciences are bothering them?

Sorry, had to take a moment to stop laughing.
The Catholic church is the protector of the Catholic church. Truth will always come second to their structure. It’s not an insult purely at Catholicism; it’s true of any establishment (governments, societies, etc). I don’t hold it against them any more than any other large group, but I also don’t delude myself to the extent you do.

Posted on December 23, 2011 at 10:15pmCall me a social libertarian if you must, but I have two points to make. There are two kinds of tyranny, the tyranny of the majority over the minority, and the tyranny of the minority over the majority. BOTH are equally wrong! Thomas Jefferson said “if it nether picks my pocket nor breaks my leg, I care not.” Whether two women or men choose to lay down together affects me not in the least, but if they start trying to demand that the rest of society accept their behavior as normal, and allow them to be legally married, THAT is something for the society to choose, and once they choose theb Feds need to back off and recognize that the People have spoken! Gay rights demonstrators harrassing little old ladies outside of churches and disrupting church services (both of which happened in CA after the passing of Prop. 8 are decidedly KKK/Nazi Brownshirt type tactics. To the LGBT community, I have this to say… the politicians and social progressives who support you also support the people who want the Muslims to be able to enact Sharia law within their own communities, and THEY want to stone you! Be careful who you get in bed (politically) with!
