Caught on Camera: TSA Defends Pat Down of Little Baby at Kansas City Airport

Caught on Camera: TSA Defends Pat Down of Little Baby at Kansas City Airport

MSNBC:

A photo posted on Twitter of a baby receiving a pat-down at Kansas City International Airport is the latest in a number of recent highly publicized incidents of airport security screenings involving young children.

The photo taken by Kansas City pastor Jacob Jester on Saturday and posted on Twitter has been viewed nearly 300,000 times.

“I really didn’t stop to think about what would happen,” Jester told msnbc.com. “I just snapped a picture.”

Jester said he was traveling to Albuquerque on Saturday when he noticed the woman behind him was traveling with a baby about the same age as his son. He had just passed through security when he looked back and saw the baby receiving the pat-down.

“My thinking was, this is an extreme measure. I wouldn’t want that to happen to my own son,” Jester said.

The Transportation Security Administration posted a response on its blog: “We reviewed the screening of this family, and found that the child’s stroller alarmed during explosives screening. Our officers followed proper current screening procedures by screening the family after the alarm, who by the way were very cooperative and were on the way to their gate in no time.”

We are witnessing the formation of the Homeland Security Force that Barry stated was necessary and should be just as large and well funded as our military. We will see this force expand into train stations and bus terminals based on the latest info obtained in the Pakistan raid. Can’t wait til TSA employees become unionized and Barry has his own personal security force.

Very curious…. A force designed to control and limit the people…. not to defend the people from outside threats.

Everybody, start practicing your new talk. Ve are now talking like zis.

The more we go along with it, the more liberty they will steal. If you and I do not stand up and say, “Hell no!”, then who will? Leave that battle for my kids to fight? No, thanks.

Ask yourself, why won’t the TSA do the same to passengers who fit the profile of a possible terrorist? Liberals are more worried about PC then our country, a little bad press over this incident but at least their not hearing from organizations like C.A.I.R. This is rediculous!

Exactly. You think the TSA doesn’t realize how ridiculous this looks? But they HAVE to pat down little kids and infants and blue-haired old ladies by the truckload in order to justify ONE person who fits the profile. If not they run the risk of being labeled racists.

TSA does many stupid things but this one is not one of them. Having worked in Corrections for 30 years I’ve seen what can be hidden in a diaper . L.O.L. Truthfully though babies diapers have been used for smuggling contraband into the Prison’s for years. Most people won’t go as far as to check out a baby but those who are dedicated enough have found everything from Razor Blades to Heroin ! And since the parent‘s weren’t offended by it what’s the problem ? Frankly I don’t know why we have let the “Fear Factor” get this far. Politial Correctness has taken over and Prosecution has taken a back seat. No pun intended !

In the last few years, I have started writing about various world lunacies as an unusual “public service” of sorts. Many of those (and many more on my “to do” list) relate to mindboggling govt incompetence & corruption.

However, I have to more or less agree w/ Mr. Vet42 on this one. Screening procedures are not that great as it is, but as soon as there are exceptions, the whole process is just about totally useless. The bad guys and gals will just use those. As already indicated, babies, children, girlfriends, etc. already have been used innumerable times — even an unknowing “girlfriend” for a bomb on a plane. BTW, sounds like a great relationship!

There well may be much better procedures, but until they are implemented, they should check everything & everybody somehow — young, old, innocent, guilty, etc.

Well, I’ve got go get back to screening govt mad men & women who continue to throw away trillions & trillions of bucks, year after year.

      Cheers!

Let me see here how can I say this so you understand young people?

Hell would freeze over before I would let anyone “pat down” my baby. What is wrong with you people???? You don’t just hand over your baby to strangers to put their hands all over your child. Holy cow.

Travel like we used to in “the old days”: D-R-I-V-E. Or, don’t go if gasoline is too expensive. STAY HOME and keep your children safe from abuse, which is what that is. If the gov’t. can get you to hand over your child, what is sacred for you?

DEAR GOD IN HEAVEN have mercy on YOUR kids, and please, LORD, open the eyes of the blind and unstop the ears of the deaf. Their very spirits are dead within them, GOD. Come, HOLY SPIRIT and fill the hearts of the faithful. In JESUS’ NAME we pray, amen.

Yes, and we also need more people to do something, like sue them (as some have already) in addition to making the “sacrifice” to not fly bc of this. I have. If enough of us did that, that would indeed make a statement they might listen to. Unfortunately, people are people – and it’s much easier to just do it and believe they “have” to for “security” sake – which is ridiculous. It’s already been proven this does not work. The answer is to do what Israel does – but alas, that’s too “pc” for us and would prevent people like Soros to make money on these “naked x-ray” machines, union jobs, etc., etc. Yes – we need Divine intervention and people to need to realize our great need for God so He can bless us again. We’ve become a very immoral, rebellious, prideful nation – correction time.

Odds of being killed in a Terrorist attack, almost 600,000 to 1. Odds of being killed in a car accident 13,500 to 1. So, put TSA out with check points on the highways and giving breathilizer tests. That might solve several problems, e.g. less drunk drivers (including politicians/lobbyists), checking for citizenship and reducing congestion (since all the illegals, drunks, and Government workers will avoid the check points).

“We reviewed the screening of this family, and found that the child’s stroller alarmed during explosives screening. ”
OK….how about checking the stroller ?? Then if it was not the stroller, please tell us what was on the baby that set off the ‘explosives screening” ! Why are Americans allowing this to continue? Why are we so willing to give up our freedoms and those of our children ? Next it will be the trains…“they” desperately want to increase Union employees by adding screening agents at train and subway startions. We have only know for 10 years that trains, subways, and ship yards are terrorists targets but now we can increase union jobs by adding these additional workers. With unemployment so high it is the perfect time to increase union members by using scare tactics. If trains and subways have not done anything in 10 years to increase safety, why now? Terrorists would probably attack the tracks anyway….not the trains/subways, but you have to ‘instill fear’ to get more union members. Union members will be the first ‘state employees’ when the Republic is taken over by a dictator. Look at the history of other countries….just like Hugo Chavez they have to control the media, control transportation, control energy, control food. The obama administration is accomplishing this one piece at a time using fear and thugs.

Plus, who is to say that there was any alarm that went off. I figure they are claiming an alarm went off just so that they could molest a baby. I wonder if these perverts have a contest going: who gets to molest the most children, who gets to molest the youngest child, who can make a child feel the most ashamed and who can traumatize the children the most. Yep, this would be a contest that would make these pedophiles real proud of themselves. I would bet that a lot of them even go to church which I would have to say in that case is that they are wasting their time going. According to Jesus, we are to protect our children more than anything else.

I’d sure like to see the factual stats showing exactly how many people were arrested for contraband, explosives, terrorist “equipment” etc the TSA has found.

I guarantee you its slim to none. Why? Because if they have stopped a threat, they would trumpet their success from the rooftops and claim it “justifies” the intrusive screening methods now in place.

Granted those low or no numbers could be because terrorists are less likely to attempt an act due to tighter screening…. but if profile specific possible terrorists aren’t being screened for whatever PC reason, whats the point?

And….. We sit here & make humorous statements about it. Just like listening to the Texas congressman a wee bit ago. Obama says the south border is secure yet Mr. Texas Congressman says illegals come into his state FREQUENTLY. Drugs pass thru every day. And, still, we give Pakistan as much as 12 billion a year to be our friend. You remember Pakistan, don’t you? A nice little country that just lost a resident due to gun fire…. Our economic situation is headed down the tubes. Just waiting for somebody to flush. Unions?…. Blaze won’t give me enough space for that subject. Hand outs, entightelments, freebies? Yet, another subject for another day. Even though I don’t believe we have many days left as a truly free country.
Still, we sit at our computers, read about all the things that are slowly, yet persistently, driving us in to the ground. We need someone to get us started in the right direction. Fast. We need to get away from our computer screens and make things happen. I fear the worst for us as a free society. I would welcome the chance & opportunity to lead the revolution & take back our country if it weren’t for bad health. I may be the only lucky one here. I’ll be gone before it really gets bad. I may not see who beats obama in 2012. I pity my kids & grandkids. They’ll have to live in a country & never know what true freedom is. They’ll never know the pleasure living in a world where you can do & say as you please. Without consequence. Pity….. It was a nice

With all due respect, I agree we need “someone” – which is why most people I know are a lot of attention to possible Republican, Libertarian & Tea Party candidates. State & Federal level. Most folks I know are writing, emailing, phoning their elected representatives.

As for sitting at our computers….and we need to get away from our computer screens & make things happen – How do you know we aren’t? Many people work on their computers everyday, a lot of those from home. Did they dismantle the stroller?

Did retest the stroller minus baby? If the stroller minus baby didn’t set off explosives alarm I could understand further screening of baby & family.

Was the childs diaper removed & screened? Then re-diapered with a clean (screened) new diaper? Jokes aside, it would easy to insert a small explosive something in a disposable diaper – between the outer plastic & inner “cotton”.

Bet I know the answers: Too much work for the TSA – easier to grope the baby and move on to the next cow in the slaughter line.

if the baby’s stroller alerted the explosive alarm…why are they checking the baby and not the stroller? GAWD these people are IDIOTS!!!
and if their explosive alarm triggered because of the stroller and they found NOTHING in the stroller.. maybe their senors SUCK BALLS!!!
so we have equipment that false alarms being handled by people with ZERO common sense…

too bad the baby didn’t throw up on the TSA agents…the family would have being charged with a biological terrorist attack…then the government could have seized all their property and accounts and waterboarded the baby for information…

NOBALONEY – No AK-47, but maybe a lot of explosive fumes from a loaded diaper.

“We reviewed the screening of this family, and found that the child’s stroller alarmed during explosives screening. …”

TSA needs to buy the proper detection equipment or learn to use the equipment they have. But of course, the best equipment in the world won’t work without basic common sense. FAIL !!!

      @pappy:
I am sorry to hear that you are having such a decline in your health…I have a special needs son and I fear the day that he will face this world alone…I’ve never had to fear this before now…the “evil” has become palpable in this country…It’s frightening and weird! We are all feeling things we have NEVER felt before…these are “challenging” (and that’s putting it mildly” times) times…

“MidWestMom” is right…we are all doing things behind the scenes…hopefully we are spreading the news…but…I feel that the “pain” people are feeling at the gas station and the grocery store will probably have more impact, but I fear that, for most Americans, they will awaken too late to have “prepared”…AND…I don’t just mean economically…I feel bad for those who know absolutely NOTHING about our history…and…I’m not sure that the majority even care…as long as it doesn’t affect their daily lives…

This I do know…1) Glenn is leaving for a REASON (I believe that he is “coming to a neighborhood near you”)…2) Freedom Connector is a great thing…Everyone should SIGN UP!

I had taken my wife and two kids to the airport back in December for a trip. I was still active duty back then and had to go straight to work after dropping them off so i was in uniform. I told my direct line supervisor and several others in my chain of command that I had every intention to refuse that my children be subjected to the xray machine and pat down. I told them I was willing to be arrested for it so if they get that call from me, I was willing to accept the consequences.

Turned out the xray machines weren‘t being used yet and they didn’t pat any of us down. They did, however, check to make sure my son‘s milk bottle wasn’t really full of some special white liquid explosive.

Security doesn’t matter. Suicide bombers will start implanting explosives under the skin. In their guts. Live body bombs. TSA should be on the lookout for big fat Arabs with doctor notes from surgery. Hell, the bombers will even use the courtesy wheelchair service to take their tetranitrate packed ass’s to the plane. – I won’t get on a plane with a big fat Arab.

Seriously, we are Americans. We don’t strap bombs on our children and women like the Palistinians do. When was the last time a diaper bomb was detected? When was the last time a woman stormed a cockpit? I think instead of ******* off the evils in the world by “profiling” them, why don’t we profile those people least likely to pull a terrorist stunt and let them through the lines and sift through the rest by hand?

First there was the hint his “civilian national security force that’s just as powerful just as strong just as well funded” was implanted within the 2000 plus pages of Obamacare. But one has to wonder if the recent power grab, and that is what it is, of the TSA could be his “dream” of this civilian force.

It is sad for our country that things like this occur, but we must all remember that those who choose to do us harm, would not think twice about using a baby to achieve their goals. Until we get to the source of the problem and stop radical muslims without worrying about political correctness, offending those of the muslim faith, and refusing to profile the radicals we will have this. Solution: Stop Flying! God Bless America.

No more checking babies, small children, the sick, mentally ill or elderly!!! It’s not like they are terrorists!!! Sure they have people who dress them instead of them doing it themselves, but no one would ever take advantage of their vulnerability by hiding explosives on them!!! Even a terrorist wouldn’t want to kill or maim a baby or little child!!! Well…ok…I guess there have been some babies and small children harmed in terrorist attacks, but still, that’s just crazy!!! Do you really think that if we never screened babies, small children, the sick, mentally ill or elderly terrorists would seek out those people just to get bombs past undetected? Really? Really. No way!! Just because they had a virtual guarantee that their weapons would go undetected? Naaa. I don’t think so. Of course drug dealers have used small children and animals for years but that’s different.

The reason the TSA agents are patting down children and infants! That way they meet their quota and then they do not have to pat down anyone of muslim or middle eastern decent that might cause them a problem. That is probably what happened on the recent flight where the man from yemmen bought a one way ticket with cash, no luggage, got on the plane and stormed the cockpit. 10 to 1 the person in line in front of him was either a child or infant with blond hair and blue eyes and they are the ones that got patted down. It is time we open our eyes and throw away being politically correct and start profiling. If we don’t being politically correct is going to get us killed.
