Caught on Vid: TV Reporter Arrested During Broadcast After Scuffle With Police

WOFL-TV (Orlando, FL) reporter Patrick Pegues was sent to cover a deadly shooting at a 24-hour internet cafe yesterday. But instead, he became the news.
Things started out well enough. Early in the morning, Pegues delivered this report:
But everything went south from there. According to video posted on YouTube, and confirmed by the news station, Pegues tussled with security guards and police just as he was about to do another live report from the scene. TV Spy explains:
Sources tell Florida News Center that Pegues, who had interviewed a local police officer during the Fox O&O’s morning newscast (video above), was about to do a live stand-up shot in front of the internet cafe when a security guard confronted him, asking him to leave.
After Pegues ignored the security guard’s request, a police officer grabbed him from behind. Pegues instantly reacted and threw the officer to the ground, at which point security guards rushed in to restrain him.
A bystander caught the incident on video:
TV Spy reports this isn’t the first time Pegues has been arrested. He was charged with disorderly conduct in 2007 after refusing to stay in a designated media area while covering a car crash.
No word on if he has been charged in this incident.
But while the video does reveal a shocking, and ironic, scuffle, it also confirms what we’ve all thought: Did you notice that Pegues was wearing a suit coat and tie while also wearing jeans?

They are no different than you or I. Their job is to observe and report that’s it. That means you get a description, note the circumstances and call the Police. I don’t have much respect for the MSM but these chuckle heads will most likely be facing a very expensive law suit and whoever the security company is that they work for will turn their backs on the guards. You can’t just grab someone as a guard and pretend to be a cop, they are NOT the same thing.

The only way to know the truth is to read the actual police reports and or the criminal complaint. This is how an incident which is caught on tape involving the police become over blown and misperceived. Some of you may be right, the police may have over reacted. But there is no way of knowing by watching a video which starts with the police already in a scuffle. There obviously was some type of interaction prior to the beginning of the video.

Posted on April 20, 2011 at 8:46amJust a quick point about the final comment in the report about wearing a jacket and tie with jeans; I’ve seen numerous reporters dressed that way, as well as quite a few on-air personalities (have you noticed how Glenn often dressed on the set?). Most of the reporters’ on-air remarks are done as “head-shots” from the chest up, so they often choose to wear what are to them more comfortable pants. No big issue here, and it only distracts from the report itself – obviously, since it distracted me.

Not unusual at all. When your anchor or anchorette reads the local news from the news desk on the set, you’ll see a nice suit on the men and a nice business blazer on the women. Below desk level…..gym shorts! This was most often the sports anchors. One anchor that I know used to wear her fuzzy pink bunny slippers on the set.

In case you didn’t hear……….. The reporter was asked to move from that location while he set up for his shoot. He was apparently impeding the ongoing investigation of a shooting which resulted in a death. I know reporters have big egos, but when police ask you to move out of the way, you should do so at that time.
So now we learn this same thing has happened before with this reporter… Looks like some one has a learning issue.
BTW…… The reporter happens to be black, so we’ll try and make this a racial thing…….. NOT!!!!!!

They report this story as if this reporter is a criminal and deserved to be manhandled while trying to do his job.
You see, the police think their job supercedes everyone elses responsibilities and they have no consideration for it whatsoever unless it serves their interest, i.e. unless they’re able to use it as propaganda to validate their measly existence.

And of importance, “GOD is not a man that he should lie.”
And of supreme importance “All whom believe on me (Christ Jesus)(in truth ), shall be saved”

As far as “hate rants”, I‘m not sure what you’re referring to, considering you are the one who mentioned “guess the race”.
But that’s between you and Bobodu, I simply expressed my opinion that he shouldn’t allow himself to be bullied into humility by right wingers because he takes a stance that differs from their own. Namely because I have seen a disproportionate amount of stories done on the Blaze that seems to depict blacks acting out in public in contrast to a meager amount done on white people acting out in public, when everyone knows that people act out in public and police are brutal to civilians who act out in public.
You assume that I’m a “lefty” because I take a stance that differs from your own. We all know what “assuming” does.
Stroking your own ego after making such radical assumptions makes you a douche.
Cops hate cameras they have no control over. They have been caught numerous times moving the dashboard camera when they are beating up civilians. They have been caught confiscating and erasing cell phone video of civilian brutality.
