Cat spotted on top of a power pole with a chip bag on its head. (Image: YouTube screenshot)
At first, Johnny Jones of St. Petersburg, Fla., thought he saw a rather large bird with a red beak sitting atop a power pole. Upon further inspection though, the KY Post reports, it was found to be a cat stuck on the 20-foot high pole with a Doritos bag lodged on its head.
Watch the local ABC Action News report:
Jones relayed that the cat had tried to swipe the bag off its head but stopped and remained still to not lose its footing. It is unclear from reports just how the cat got on top of the power pole with the bag on its head.
Jones reached a local police officer who then contacted the fire department to retrieve the feline. When a firefighter reached out to grab the cat though, it wiggled and fell to the ground. It reportedly landed on its feet and ran off — the video footage does not capture this piece of the action though.

Just as this firefighter wrapped his hands around the cat, it fell to the ground. (Image: YouTube screenshot)
Here’s the YouTube video referenced, which was posted last week:

This is your cat on catnip.
This is your cat w/ a dorito bag over its head, 20 feet in the air, on a pole.
Any questions?
When confronted by his dad about catnip use, and why he had the munchies, the cat only responded : “You alright, I learned it by watching you”

I’m sure he was talking nice to the kitty as he approached….the firefighter had on oven mits type gloves….so theres no chance he could have been scratched….but NOT to hold on to the poor cat? I hope he is better at rescuing people.

Report Post »TheSoundOf Truth
Posted on May 2, 2012 at 12:15pmYou know something, you are a moron. Cats are actually a lot smarter than dogs. They just are not subservient animals. They domesticated themselves to follow their food supply when mankind started farming for grain.
I am pretty sure that someone put the bag on the cat’s head, maybe by trying to trick it.
But that quote about dogs being ‘so smart” is, biologically inaccurate. I mean, most domestic dogs can’t tell the difference between a carpet and a lawn, and anyone that has ever own a can and a dog will tell you that cats don’t need to be “trained” to use a litter pan. They just seem to do it.
If you even look at big cats – they are smarter, more clever, and have better reaction times than that of the common wolf, and domestic cats are genetically identical to big cats.
I am sorry, but a poodle is just a purely stupid animal.

Posted on May 2, 2012 at 12:48pm@ thesoundofproof…why have a cat? They’re reclusive, they kill birds, they eat and sh*t and if you happen to die in your house they‘re so loyal that they’ll eat your dead corpse. Cats are ugly, mean and useless…not to mention they live in the freaking sewers before they come back to stick their butts in your face while you’re sleeping. F@*K cats.

Posted on May 2, 2012 at 6:19pmCats aren’t as useless as you think they are. The ancients revered them because they were used to guard the precious grain stores from rats and mice. Even a few rodents could render an entire crop unfit for human consumption, which would have led to famine. In the Middle Ages, the clergy convinced the peasantry of Europe that cats were evil and satanic. So the peasants systematically wiped out most of the cats. As a result the rats thrived and multiplied, brought on the Bubonic Plague, and wiped out more than two-thirds of Europe. So you see, cats aren’t so useless after all.

Posted on May 2, 2012 at 9:46amWhen I was younger we had a black cat named Buffy (The Rabbit Slayer). We never had to feed her because she always had a rabbit, squirrel, or bird in her mouth and the food was just go bad. She was a great cat. Any way, I used to live in a 2 story house and we had a giant oak tree in our back yard. Needless to say, the squirrels would run the telephone lines from the oak tree to the roof of the house. One evening my dad came home from work and yelled at my brother and I to hurry up and get outside. Buffy had climbed up the latice on the one side of our house and was hiding behind the chimney, picking squirrel after squirrel off. Dad went to go get the ladder to get her down and she just walked over to the edge of the house, jumped off and landed on our trampoline with no problem at all. We even brought the vet over to watch her do this and he didn’t know what to say. She would jump down, we would call her over and he looked her over and said she was fine. Wish they had camera phones back then, def a million plus hit video on Youtube lol.

Posted on May 2, 2012 at 7:41amHow much did we spend for a stinking cat? I love animals but if a fire department has time to get a cat off a pole, they have too damn much manpower and money. And on top of that, they spent money and will now request a bigger budget next year as little spending sprees like this add up/
Total waste of taxpayer monsy. Just like the fake phony war on drugs and war on terror…Jusr used to pump up those budgets and increase the GESTAPO…..

Posted on May 2, 2012 at 8:08amI understand your sentiment. I don’t see a cat who climbed a pole and got stuck. I see a sick, twisted individual, who is practicing for bigger things. I know a lot of firemen. They love animals, too. I can’t begrudge them the feel goods. Much rather pay a fireman to rescue a cat, than the Muslim Brotherhood to bomb me. That’s just me, though.

What can I say, on one hand you have PETA who are phoney and are over-the-top with their “save the animals” rhetort, and then there are people like “baddoggy” that are like “F the animals”.
Seeing a cat stranded on top of a 20ft pole and simply leaving it is an act of cruelty that is akin to that of sociopaths. If you were stuck on a pole, I’d just leave you there. Eh, it would most likely be lodged in some rather conspicuous place you and you;d probably like it.

Posted on May 2, 2012 at 7:14amI am touchy on cats right now. I would guess some yahoo put the bag on the cat’s head. Maybe even stuck him up on the pole. I am missing one amazing cat and have two more who were nearly tortured to death (with electricity). I had three cats. They were all strays who adopted us. The cat who has had us the longest (15 years), came home with two shaved spots (just over her kidney and the underside base of her tail). She was totally messed up. Didn’t believe she would live. She slept 50 hours straight. Didn’t eat for a week. Couldn’t walk. Totally deaf. Have you ever seen anybody after Electro Shock Therapy? I think they thought she was either dead or close enough to it, and threw her out. Richard had a shaved spot, but he’s young and strong. Richu is just gone. Richu was the most abused, but still believed in people. Richu was like a dog. I’m a dog person. I want this serial killer in the making. I’ve got a cage and a cigar cutter…

Posted on May 2, 2012 at 9:44amIf it makes you feel any better, this cat probably got the bag on its own head, spooked itself, and ran up the pole. I have seen my cats do equally silly things and then when they do something extremely stupid and get frightened, they do what cats do when frightened–spook, bolt and climb up anything they can find. I have to be careful about leaving bags with handles around for this very reason. My half-feral will inevitably get his head through the loop and scare the heck out of himself. Off he’ll go with the bag (dangerously) hanging from his neck.
What probably happened here is that a stray and hungry cat smelled food in the Doritos bag, stuck his head in hoping for a treat and when he backed out, the bag went with him. Next on the agenda in that furry brain is to get away and up fast. Thus, up the pole. Poor baby, I do hope he is OK. Folks, keep your cats in doors or put up a Houdini fence for them.
