It looks like this happened at the entrance of the set. The info sign says “Enter and Exit” then blinks something else. My guess is the police was “exiting” and the bee was “entering” and as you can see, you can’t do that at the same time …

Idiot cop. Just like the rest of em. Thinks a badge and a siren means he owns the road. Well, he got owned on this one. Well done Bumble Bee.

Hasn’t anyone else even noticed that the Camaro hit the cop? The headline is completely backwards! When the front of your car is crumpled and the side of another took the hit, most cops give the ticket to the person with their front end smashed in… The headline should read: “Autobot Joins Decepticons and Attacks Police K-9 Unit!”

And the K-9 transforms into a BotCon! Or better yet, with this scene, they bring back Jazz. Or Prime has to choose whether he wants to take out Bumblebee or if he can somehow persuade him back over to the Bot side. Wow, my son’s obsession has rubbed off on me. What can I say, robots are cool.

If I‘m not mistaken is it not the law that you’re suppose to pull off to the side when emergency vehicles are driving down the road? They can’t be expected to respond to an emergency but find an alternate route just because hollywood is filming.

Closed set… closed set… closed set!!!! The police officer is 100% at fault… but WILL find a way to make it BB’s fault. It’s what they do.

The reason that they close the road is because there will be hundreds of feet of electrical cabling all over the place, pedestrians where they wouldn’t normally be, and sometimes explosive charges going off. Thank God it wasn’t a scene where some actor was lying in the middle of the road after being “shot” or “dumped” from a moving vehicle.

From what I understand, the movie companies often have a few of the key vehicles available, in case of accidents. Also some are used for interior shots, and others for special effects.

Police vehicle had lights and sirens going. Doesn’t matter what was going on, the guy driving the Camero was at fault there. At least in Indiana, you are required to yield the right of way to emergency vehicles when they are running lights and sirens.

While you are 100% correct, I don’t think the driver was expecting to have a real police car on the set. When we’ve had movies shot in our town, the area is considered a closed street, just like when then have block parties or parades. Emergency vehicles are aware and unless the emergency is on the set, they reroute around it. The driver of the Bumblebee simply wasn’t expecting a real police car.

That is incorrect. The lights and sirens are a request for right of way. If the emergency responder is speeding or breaking other traffic laws when an accident happens even with lights and sirens they are at fault. In this case especially because he was going through an area that was shut down for the shoot the officer will be at fault. The lights and siren do not give permission to break laws. This isn’t my opinion. It is what I learned through many years working as a firefighter and EMT.

The Camaro at the beginning of the first movie was sweet. It was similar to the 78 I had when I was younger. Then it switched into a car that was crappier and worth less. Well, that’s Hollywood for you.

Remember this when the movie comes out. If it is directed by Michael Bay like the first two, you’ll be begging to see all of the cars smashed this way…

They build them that way for safety. The front end folds like an accordian, absorbing the impact, allowing the driver to walk away.

modern cars are designed to crumple so as to absorb as much energy as possible and avoid transferring it to the people inside. cop cars however need to be rugged to handle tough situations. Plus who knows, maybe the movie people lightened the car so as to make it faster or easier to work with.

This crash is a testament to why I’ve driven a full sized truck, with a heavy guage steel bumpers, for the last 27 years. I may consume more fuel, but my family is much safer. 10 years ago I was rear ended by an intoxicated woman driving a Honda Accord going 65 (in a 35) while I was stopped at the red signal. My entire family walked away without a scratch or bruise. The intoxicated woman spent 4 months in the hospital at the cost of over 250K. My Truck suffered 2K in Damage. Anyone who chides me over fuel consumption gets a lessen on how much the other lady “saved” in fuel costs.

BTW, I’m VERY glad no one was seriously injured in that movie set crash. Whenever you hear emergency sirens, PLEASE pay attention and head right away to our first responders. Someone’s life may depend on it.

If it is the same car as in the first movie it was a custom build = probably no safety equipment. Notice the chunks that came off – probably fiberglass – not a real camero. Regardless I bet that little mess up just set the movie back a month.

The cop should have radioed to patrol officers present at the shoot, so this is actually not bumblebees fault. Not only that the cop had to be aware of the movie shoot he had to go by the roadblock required at said shoot. Oh well an avoidable accident hopefully no-one got hurt or in trouble

Hopefully no one got hurt in this incident. Someone messed up on notification of the local police and authorities – either in the Police Department or on the set directors. If it is found out to be a major blunder then the solution is simple — Transform them to the Unemployment Department!

Besides Bumble bee is suppose to have been a VW originally.
