Caught on Video: Man High on Crack Punches Officer, Steals Police Car and Crashes in High-Speed Chase

A robbery suspect wants to know if he “made the news.”
Yes. After authorities released video footage of 38-year-old Arthur Lee Thompson punching a police officer, stealing his car and then crashing in into the side of a truck, Thompson has made headlines.
The conflict happened in May, but now the coordinating video has just been released.
The incident started when a police officer spotted Thompson’s green Jeep, and pulled over the car to approach Thompson about allegedly trying to steal a computer from Walmart. The suspect did not cooperate. He made several jabs at the police officer. Police eventually struck him twice with a taser gun, but Thompson was able to keep on fighting long enough to steal the officer’s police car.
Thompson’s getaway, however, was short-lived. He smashed the car into the side of a landscaping truck as the truck was trying to make a left turn. Police then took the suspect into custody, but the violence didn’t end with his arrest, according to a report from The Daily Mail. While Thompson was in the hospital he allegedly spit at police officers and shouted ‘you are all racist.’
The Mail reports that later on, Thompson made derogatory comments about each officer in his booking area and boasted about his earlier fight, saying ‘I need to retire [my fists].’
This wasn’t the first time South Carolina police have had trouble with Thompson. They told Live5News.com that he has a long list of offenses reaching back to 1992 which include incidents of robbery, resisting arrest and assaulting cops (sound familiar?).
An incident report obtained by Live5News.com, a Charleston-based news agency, said Thompson admitted to smoking crack that morning.

Posted on August 30, 2011 at 5:23pmOk , for your clarification, yes the cop can shoot him. Cops can use force plus one. Look it up, I won’t go into detail here. Basically it is whatever the force used by the assailant, the cop can meet or move up the use of force continuum. As soon as the perp got into the car, the car then becomes a deadly weapon(especially taking into consideration the prior actions of the perp), equal to that of a gun, and the officer would have been well within his rights for his safety as well as that of the public.

All to ofthen I have seen videos where the first words uttered by a suspect were, “I didna do nuttin’.” Even when confronted with the video evidence some claim it’s not them in the videos. Deny. Deny. Deny. This suspect exacerbated the situation by failing to comply, an all to common reaction among blacks, almost like they’re following a script. Almost like complying with a police demand would be knuckling under to whitey. This is a culture that is being nurtured by black leaders. It has not always been the culture of blacks, even some blacks in Africa.
Now, having said all that, let’s give the man a fair trial; review his previous convictions of assault; and remove him from the gene pool. Act civil and be treated civilly in our civilization. Act against the civilization and suffer the consequences. It’s a choice. Be a man or be a punk. Choice.

I was all about “They shoulda shot this wuss after he threw the first punch!”, however, there IS the story about cops and assalting people with cameras, the Florida cops making up violations,etc. If we give them the right to shot unarmed civillians, what happens when my son gets pulled over the same day a cop catches his wife cheating on him? Allow jurys to set penalties for these animals. At least in Texas, this guy would be up for life without parole.

Police pulling people over and writing tickets without just cause. A couple weeks ago cops murdered a man in Fullerton CA. Not saying the guy did the right thing but there are other things that we are not aware of. Maybe this was a case of profiling that cops are so famous for.

One of the cops that killed the homeless guy in CA claimed (in a prior incident) that a kid jumped on his back so he bodyslammed him into the concrete. Luckily a video from a cell phone proved that the kid did not jump on the officers back and the cop body slammed him because he would not stop videoing the beating of another kid. These waters are very muddy as far as I’m concerned. And these issues are not political so stop dividing every dang issue into two catagories: ultra conservative, ultra progressive. If your defined by either of these catagories your mind belongs to the media. Be an individual and stop this collective labeling.

I am not a fan of police doing the wrong things but this guy was on tape assaulting an officer without cause so he get what he gets.
I would be the FIRST to shoot a cop if he invades my house without a warrant or starts shooting at me without just cause …self defense is justified but we saw both sides of that story. even if this guy was pulled over for no reason he should have done what he was told and got back in his car and TALKED to the officer and taken the ticket. IF it was a wrong ticket the courts would decide that.
He could have killed your kid in that car. No… guys like that need to be taken out. End of story.
That was just far to risky to the public…thank you ACLU! Because of all the frivolous law suites we get guys like this running the streets!
