Caught on Video: Texas Air Show Crash Leaves Couple Badly Burned

CNN:

Two stunt pilots survived a plane crash caused by engine trouble at an air show in Texas on Saturday, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

Stunned onlookers at the Air Fiesta show watched as the plane plummeted, leaving a white trail behind as it dove toward a wooded area near an airport in Brownsville, Texas.

The stunt team onboard — married couple Kyle and Amanda Franklin — “suffered severe burns following the crash,” according to a statement on the air show’s website.

They were in the middle of a wing-walking act when the engine problems began, FAA spokesman Lynn Lunsford said.

“The female wing-walker was able to get back into the airplane, but the plane crashed into a thicket near the runway,” Lunsford said.

Daily Mail:

It was almost a case of history repeating itself, because both Kyle and Amanda’s fathers – who were stunt pilots – died in a mid-air collision six years ago.

Spectator Audria West told Action 4 News: ‘They said something about the engine shutting down, that [the pilot] was coming down at a slope and he couldn’t get back up,

“I actually cried – it was a little traumatizing just to be so excited and then to see that happen. I mean, I’m sure it happens, but it was a horrible experience.’

Amanda, who suffered severe burns throughout her body was rushed to a San Antonio hospital, with pilot Kyle taken to a local hospital.

Just days before the fateful accident in their 1940 Waco plane they call the Mystery Ship, daubed with skull and crossbones, Amanda told the Brownsville Herald: ‘We both have such a passion for flying. It’s in our blood.

I wonder if she would have survived if she stayed on the cool wing instead of dropping into her seat which was cozied right behind that huge engine? The heat from the fire went directly to her.

I enjoy air shows and enjoy the rants of MossBrain. Hooray.
Let’s hope the govt. doesn’t try to save us from one more diversion.
And let’s hope MossBrain continues to find ways to stray off topic and entertain us with his ill-tempered posts. It reminds me of Aunt Edna from ‘Vacation’… annoying but harmless.

Yep, funny how when Haiti was hit with an earthquake, those with the most traumatic injuries were sent to Miami (681 miles from Haiti to Miami) and other points in the U.S. as opposed to Michael Moore’s beloved bastion of medical wonders, Cuba (about 90 miles from Haiti to Cuba).
      Damn you, researchable facts!
By the by, that #7 stat is touted by a study from the Commonwealth Fund. Not exactly an unbiased entity (CF’s leader used to be part of the Brookings Institute… gee, which way does that concern lean?). Let’s just lose all perspective and start quoting WHO so we can throw in some U.S. bashing from the U.N. Wait! WHO happens to be one of the sources cited in this study! Go figure.
The primary bugaboo in the CF report always came back to cost and administrative red tape. Granted those are problems in the U.S., but isn‘t it funny that as population goes up and you’re expected to cover more with less, a strain is induced? I suspect the results of this study were decided before going thru the motions of “data collection.” The infant mortality sham arises from live births are not defined consistently from country to country. This tends to skew results and has been termed by some as “junk science.” Any statistic from WHO is meaningless; that body openly dislikes the U.S.
So the Haitians were screwed? Tell them that.
Aid worker: “Pierre, we can take you to the U.S. or Cuba to have your catastrophic injuries tended to. What’s it gonna be? Allow me to share with you the documentary ‘Sicko’ before you make an uninformed choice.”
Pierre: “STFU and get me to America!”

      To: AWALL1231,
The libs have already are hard at work dismantling the General Aviation industry in this country. Through senselss over-regualtion, PC attacks on corporate aviation and other methods. The percent of the US population with private pilot’s liscenses has been steadily dropping. There also have been only a handful of new private airplane designs produced in the last 50 years becasue of the insane maze of beurocratic red tape needed to certify a new plane. General Aviation is one of the most regulated industries in the country and wonder of wonders it‘s on it’s death bed.

The freedom to accomplish your dreams is what America is all about. The other alternative is to lock yourself in a box and keep your organs alive for as long as possible which is a waste of existence. I believe this is what Dems are striving for. I would rather end my life following my goals than to submit to the will of a government agenda. “To dream the impossible dream” “To go where no man has gone before” hits the nail on the head.

      MOSSBRAIN
And I’m sure you would rather be in Cuba when you have a major medical problem. Typical lib-talk, always want to compare, were number 7, yea. First you’ll butter me up with the USA having 25% of the world’s total economy then want to compare total spent per person on medical procedures against the GDP….bla bla bla and we come in 7th, right, the top 7 wouldn’t equal 5% of the world’s economy and your left to wonder what we send in foreign aid to those top 7. Remember MOSSBRAIN, “Figures don’t lie, liar’s will figure”, just ask Mike Moore.

She has a tough road ahead of her recovering from severe burns to most of her body.It is very possible that she doesn’t recover. My grandmother suffered for a week before her organs shut down form severe burns and died. My uncle was trying to prime his carburetor with a coffee can of gasoline when his engine backfired ,lighting the can on fire.He threw the can away and my grandmother came around the side of the garage just as he threw it and was doused with flaming gasoline.

    looks like fun………….but very dangerous

nature does have a way of selecting the fittest, and sometimes the fittest win, sometimes they dont

on the other side of the coin though, as a population the laws and rules we enforce on ourselves to “ protect the weakest” is really self damaging as it allows the weakest to survive and contribute to the dumbing down of the population.

in reality, if we let nature take its proper course, many of the blind ignorant sheeple in our communities with their hands out for freebies would have to either get their act together or be eliminated through natural selection

in reality all the laws that protect dumb people from doing stupid things just hurts us collectively in the long run

prime example is the protection of union workers that exhibit poor skills get protected while new eager workers get the axe because of seniority…………..in essence damaging the whole ………….and the left doesnt see the problem with it…………….idiots

Wow, I am thinking at this moment, this is nothing to pray about because I was just reading about Japan. This seems like nothing to be concerned about. Yet, I know these people need our prayers as much as the millions in Japan. Lord, How do I do this, where do I start, have You given me enough faith to pray for so many needs that are way beyond my even understanding. How do I pray for these people and situations? Lord, these situations and these peoples needs are so great and wo overwhelming, Please help them in Your grace and mercy!!
