Caught on Video: U.S. Ambassador Huntsman Accused of Instigating Anti-Gov’t Protesters in China

U.S. Ambassador Jon Huntsman has stirred controversy after popping up in an anti-government protest in China and promptly leaving the scene after someone in the crowd recognized him and accused him of wanting to see “chaos” in the country.
The potential 2012 Republican presidential nominee is set to resign his post as U.S ambassador to China on April 30. According to Politico, Huntsman was at the anti-government rally with members of his family.
A video captured the exchange that has since been posted to YouTube and widely circulated on Chinese nationalist and pro-government websites.
“Hey Mr. Ambassador, what are you doing here?” a member of the crowd asked upon recognizing him, according to a translation of the video.
“I’m just here to look around,” Huntsman responded in Mandarin.
“You want to see chaos in China,” the man asserted.
“No, I don’t,” Huntsman answered.
Regardless of his intentions, Huntsman’s mere presence at such a rally sends a negative message to the Chinese government. According to a U.S. Embassy spokesperson, Huntsman was passing by the protest on his way to a museum located near Tienanmen Square. The embassy told the Wall Street Journal that the ambassador was curious and just wanted to see what was going on.
The protests in China have coincided with pro-democracy movements spreading throughout the Middle East. Dubbed the “Jasmine Revolution,” references to the loosely organized protests have been strictly censored by the Chinese government. However, the photos and video of Huntsman at the scene have been allowed to circulate.

I think it is newsworthy because he is the Chinese ambassador who works for the Obama administration and being a possible 2012 candidate we have a right to know as much about him as the lamestream will not tell us. I personally know nothing about him other than he was the governor of Utah and Obama appointed him as the Chinese ambassador.

I am always amazed at how the trolls come out in droves to try and drive the conservative sites into the ground because they have nothing better to do. The trolls should be more concerned with the fact that the man in the WH that they have been defending has been more concerned with meeting or talking to Andy Stern and Trumpka every day instead of his own senior cabinet members. 2 years in the WH and not one call or meeting with 6 senior cabinet advisors…oh well must be too busy. Not to mention the fact that your president has decided that his AG doesn‘t have to defend laws on the books anymore simply because they don’t want to. The POTUS was in contempt several times on stopping oil drilling and when he finally had to relent he made sure that anyone who wanted to continue drilling for oil would jump through hoops to get permits. So far not one company has been allowed to start drilling. But its ok trolls, don’t worry about the unrest mob rule is so much better than what we have in a balanced system. Why bother following the rule of law, we can just run away. Oh and by the way, the spontaneous uprising in Egypt for democracy, started in 2008 and guess what? Trumpka and Andy Stern were there, the same guys that meet and talk with the pres or the vp EVERY DAY. Nothing going on there. Keep being stupid. You think you want what you want, just wait, you are barking up the wrong tree and you will pay the price for sure.

The boy was a doll, had this wonderful sense of humor and treated everyone fairly. The girl was a NIGHTMARE, not a shred of morality or decency but can put on a really convincing sweet-girl-victim act.She had all kinds of self-made problems, but never took a lick of responsibility for anything, always someone else being cruel to the poor thing. She was the most illogical liar I’ve ever come across, but backed up her lies with such a good poor-me act that people just don’t think about it enough to realize her stories make no sense. She thought EVERYONE but her was too stupid to figure her out, but when she was called on something, caught in the lie, she‘d immediately change her story and then act like you’re insane for ever thinking it was any different.
This propaganda crap coming from the Chinese guys in this video reminds me of her. Their accusations make no sense at all… and yet they’re sticking to the story and people are falling for it. Really annoying.
BTW, lest you think we let kids act like that… Chinese girl got sent home very early.

Also consider this much as well, perception to the communists is as much as proof of intentions and evidence; to them only just happening to be in the area as one of these protests is akin to giving the full support and influence of America to them, even if nothing such as that is true, the mere apperance of it happening makes it true, so the logic circut closes…what is seen as truth therefore must be true, and they make it true for it seeming as such.

Because Jon Huntsman Jr. was the Utah governor for some time, you can ask some Utahns, he wasn’t that great of a governor. He had a very liberal side of him, and many Utahns disagreed with some of his policies.
To answer your question, he is pretty much opposite of his father. Not much like him. Indeed, he is the black sheep.
Jon Huntsman Sr. is an incredible man, his son does not reflect who he is.

I don’t know about this man politically, but at this point I’m going to take him at his word that he was there to “see what was going on.”

There is a big difference, although as US Embassador to China, he should have had enough common sense to stay far, far away.
He doesn‘t have his daddy’s strict sense of ethics, it seems. Even if it was an innocent walk in the park, he should have known what it would look like and how it would bring shame to him and his position. And on that reason alone, he should have avoided being seen anywhere near the protest.

Posted on February 24, 2011 at 10:22pmI don’t know much about this Huntsman, but I do think under normal conditions he has a right to happen upon a demonstration without getting accused of advocating it. But when you are dealing with China they are very unreasonable and very judgmental and suspicious. He, like others on here have mentioned should have anticipated this reaction especially being a person who understands the Chinese better than 99.9% of Americans.
