Caught: Reporters Overhear Dem’s Secret Budget Strategy — ‘Always Use the Word Extreme’

Caught: Reporters Overhear Dems Secret Budget Strategy Always Use the Word Extreme

Sen. Charles Schumer was caught giving marching orders to colleagues during a conf. call Tuesday.

“Um, Senators, ever heard of the mute button?”

That’s how the New York Times — yes the New York Times — begins its story on how Democratic Senators were caught Tuesday morning discussing secret marching orders before a conference call. Apparently, the senators didn’t realize that several of the reporters were already logged into the call and began discussing just how they wanted to verbally paint the GOP, House Speaker John Boehner, and the Tea Party.

The instructions came from the Senate’s No. 3 Democrat, New York’s Charles Schumer. The Times explains his instructions:

After thanking his colleagues — Barbara Boxer of California, Ben Cardin of Maryland, Tom Carper of Delaware and Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut — for doing the budget bidding for the Senate Democrats, who are facing off against the House Republicans over how spending for the rest of the fiscal year, Mr. Schumer told them to portray John Boehner of Ohio, the Speaker of the House, as painted into a box by the Tea Party, and to decry the spending cuts that he wants as extreme. “I always use the word extreme,” Mr. Schumer said, “That is what the caucus instructed me to use this week.” [Emphasis added]

Eventually, it seems someone did find that mute button. But Schumer‘s instructions didn’t fall on deaf ears. As soon as the call officially started the senators accomplished their mission:

“We are urging Mr. Boehner to abandon the extreme right wing,” said Ms. Boxer, urging the House to compromise on the scale of spending cuts and to drop proposed amendments that would deny federal financing for Planned Parenthood and for government agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency.

Mr. Carper continued with the theme, referring to some House Republicans’ “right-wing extremist friends.” Mr. Cardin decried Mr. Boehner giving into “extremes of his party.” Mr. Blumenthal closed by speaking of the “relatively small extreme group of ideologues” who are “an anchor” dragging down the budget negotiation process. [Emphasis added]

Sure, this isn‘t we’re-involved-in-a-third-war shocking — securing messaging is a fact of political life. But it is, if nothing else, worth a chuckle. Especially considering the Democrats — possibly oblivious to the gaffe — said exactly what they said they were going to say.

That, folks, is how the political sausage is made.

Obviously this has been their strategy for a couple of months. It’s no surprise to anyone. It’s just funny that it was overheard by the media. It’s not like the media is capable of putting two and two together though. They’ll just continue to be the mouthpiece for the democratic party.

This revelation just proves that Schumer et al are more interested in spin and manipulation and far less concerned with over-spending, deficit, jobs, American decline, and the fact that liberals/enviros have caused an energy crisis. Meanwhile 2/3ds of offshore oil and gas leases in the Gulf are idle and 45% of all onshore oil and gas leases are inactive!

Mm-hmm. If you can’t agree with them, call them names. Great. That’ll work.

Actually, what’s scary is that the name calling technique works. When you call someone a dirty name like “extremist”, or “racist”, it tends to get the job done in getting the crowds to turn against the target. This is how the unions and politicians (yes, on both sides) do business. The “ignorant masses” love name calling and sound-bites, but not so much actually doing research to see if their is any truth or worth in the claims.

I think it would be funny if, for just one day, ALL Republicans would make fun of this moment by referring to EVERY Democrat using some form of the word “extreme”.

I mean, how did the “relatively small extreme group of ideologues” manage to toss Pelosi out on her rum in November? Maybe Jeb Bush rigged the election again!

You’re right… it would be funny… if this whole thing was about a bunch of kids on a playground making fun of someone. But what is really scary to me is that these evil bozos are being successful with their sophomoric rhetoric… and they are more concerned with the rhetoric than the issues. The issues happen to be LIFE CHANGING for all of us. Those of us (and I am including you) smart enough to realize the idiotic slurs they base their party line on are propaganda are not mentioning that their own stupid, lazy side of the spending aisle have become inflamed with winning the argument with “extreme” accusations, while the issues just divide. I’ve heard a lot (enough actually) about diversity and would rather go back to true “unity” of purpose being the buzzword… but I think we might be too late and too few in number. To me, this strategy is anything but humerous. Rome is burning.

None of this is ever going to change as long as these peo… monsters are in office. Let this be a lesson to you all that Nov 2 ‘10 was a failure b/c those with the power are still in play. I don’t think blacks fleeing blue urban poverty to settle in red urban or rural poverty would change their minds to vote red. They are following the work, not the politics and they could give 2 $h1ts about the role politics plays in the work they find in the red states… At best, it will turn the red states purple and at worst, could shift the balance entirely. Let’s also not forget about the spike in the Latino population that will aid in these shifts.

I have to help here pay her bills and her medications now. whats gonna happen when they cut more of here benefits? I have to go into the poor house to help her, not that i wouldnt, but how is that fair? she paid into it her whole life. She earned her benifits. KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF HER MEDICARE REPUBLICORPS!!!!!

Yes, Ms. Boxer… And the “extreme right wing” would happen to be the American people!

I am so tired of political dinosaurs not only ignoring the majority will and best interests of the American people, but slandering the American people as “racists” or “extremists” simply for expecting our public servants to serve the public.

As for Chuck Schumer… He’s nothing but another global hack with no loyalties to the American people. Both parties – R and D – have been working side-by-side against our interests for decades. Both parties represent global unions, corporations and “special interest groups” to fill their own pockets at the utter expense and to the complete detriment of the American people…

A third party – a Tea Party, a Constitution Party or a We-the-People Party – is desperately needed in America today… A party that will reclaim America based on our Constitution and the rule of law… A party that will represent the best interests of the American people.

What have we as a country or people become? You have been told to tell the truth, work hard, and be a good citizen all your life and now it all seems for naught, all you see is those who lie, deceive, cut corners, only care about themselves and how much they can take advantage of everyone else, seem to rise to the top. We are doomed if this type of behavior continues. This “all about me” mentality is taking this country down the drain. Where are the real leaders, the people we can look up to who will tell us the truth. We are not getting this from either party at this point and everything is so political they’re allegiances are to the party rather than the people or the country. This time in our country is probably the most important and to which direction we go. Get and stay informed, ask the tough questions, and DO NOT back down from these so-called elitist ruling class. I pray for our great country and people to make the right and just decisions.

LOL! The extremely dumb dems are extremely good at their extremely noxious behaviors which ALWAYS have the extremely funny and extremely self-defeating results of biting them in their own extremely-lemming-backsides.

Thanks Extremely Dumb Dems! You are extremely helpful in launching an extremely good campaign against your extremely asinine selves. America Extremely Appreciates It! America Is Extremely Amused! LOL!

I have to say this about that.. (the selected wordage).. AMERICAN’S have been desensitized against words.. or at least those who have 1/2 an ounce of brains.. BOTH sides have been playing this game TO LONG.. but I have to admit that NO OTHER administration has done it as much as the current one.. No one is really listening to the so called BUZZ words.. this administration is SO far BEHIND the AMERICAN people it’s actually funny.. fact is they are even behind their own supporters.. go figure.. and 90% of the AMERICAN people are thinking they are real dingbats..
