Congressional Black Caucus Chair: We‘d ’Be Marching on the White House’ if Not For Obama

CBC Chair: Wed Be Marching on the White House if Not For Obama, Dont Want to Empower the People Who Hate the PresidentCongressional Black Caucus Chair Emanuel Cleaver said if it weren’t for President Barack Obama, members of his caucus would be “marching on the White House” in anger over the high unemployment rate for black Americans, but don‘t want to do anything that would empower Obama’s detractors.

“If [former President] Bill Clinton had been in the White House and had failed to address this problem, we probably would be marching on the White House,” the Missouri Democrat told McClatchy Newspapers in an interview Sunday. “There is a less-volatile reaction in the CBC because nobody wants to do anything that would empower the people who hate the president.”

McClatchy reported:

Indeed, when lawmakers swarmed around Obama as he was leaving the House of Representatives chamber following his recent speech on jobs, caucus members were in the crush, eager for a handshake, a pat on the shoulder or an autograph.

“This is an unprecedented circumstance where an African-American president who is an iconic, heroic figure enjoys a status with African-Americans that no one since Martin Luther King has enjoyed,” said former congressman Artur Davis of Alabama, who was a member of the black caucus until leaving office a year ago.

Certain members of the caucus have attracted controversy in recent weeks — in August, Rep. Andre Carson (D-Ind.) said members of the Tea Party would like to see blacks “hanging on a tree,” the same month Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) said the Tea Party could “go straight to hell.”

Cleaver himself told the National Journal earlier this week, “I am convinced, irreversibly, that the lack of civility is causing most of the problems we have in our government” — one month after criticizing the August debt deal as “a sugar-coated Satan sandwich.”

“It’s tough,” Cleaver said. “I’m chairing a group of people who are former mayors and state senators and judges. I’m trying to develop a very aggressive agenda. But Maxine Waters represents central Los Angeles first and she has to represent her constituents first and she’s going to say things in order to represent them.”

Still, Waters has not entirely held back her criticism of Obama: She expressed her disappointment when he did not visit any black communities during his bus tour in August, and at the same time scolded a crowd for not putting pressure on him because they “love” him.

“It’s not personal,” Cleaver said. “They’re attacking his policies, or lack thereof, with regard to this gigantic unemployment problem among African-Americans. If we can’t criticize a black president, then it’s all over.”

@Nick84- If you’re referring to the word“nig” in Edcts’ post, I see no reason to chastise him . As long as black trash rep“artists” are given a pass, why should anyone be condemned. Unless , of course, you hold white people to a higher standard, and if you do, why? Pres. Bush called that “The soft bigotry of low expectations”. EVERYONE must be held to the same standard. The left repeatedly gives blacks a pass on every offense no matter how egregious, from the black flash mob attacks to their filthy language. If we’re ever going to have a “social contract” we must all be expected to obey the rules.

So, let me get this straight. They know unemployment that isn’t addressed by the government is a direct reflection on the President, and yet, because the President happens to be part black, they’re going to give him a pass? Is this admitting that because he’s part black, he’s too stupid to know how to fix it?

The CBC is a joke, i would like to heir one of them explain this little fact of the past.

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) has falsely accused the Tea Party of having ties to the Ku Klux Klan. Speaking at the NAACP convention, she said: “All those who wore sheets a long time ago lifted them off to wear Tea Party clothing.”

Now is the time to speak some Truth to Power.

It would have been far more truthful for the congresswoman to have admitted the fact that all those who wore sheets a long time ago lifted them to wear Democratic Party clothing. Yes, the Ku Klux Klan was established by the Democratic Party. Yes, the Ku Klux Klan murdered thousands of Republicans — African-American and white – in the years following the Civil War. Yes, the Republican Party and a Republican President, Ulysses Grant, destroyed the KKK with their Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871.

How did the Ku Klux Klan re-emerge in the 20th century? For that, the Democratic Party is to blame.

It was a racist Democrat President, Woodrow Wilson, who premiered Birth of a Nation in the White House. That racist movie was based on a racist book written by one of Wilson’s racist friends from college. In 1915, the movie spawned the modern-day Klan, with its burning crosses and white sheets.

Inspired by the movie, some Georgia Democrats revived the Klan. Soon, the Ku Klux Klan again became a powerful force within the Democratic Party. The KKK so dominated the 1924 Democratic Conventio

I have 5 truely “African American” grandchildren and 2 of them happen to be black. All 5 were born in Africa, 3 to parents of German decent, 2 to parents of Zulu decent. -blacks on average (over the past 20 years) rape 15,000 to 30,000 white women a year, where less than 15 black woman are raped by white men per year

-blacks make up 12 percent of the population, but commit 50% of murders, 73% of armed robbereis, and 64 % of rapes

-7 in 10 black babies are born to single parent families

-black males make up less than 5% of total college population, but over 40% of prison population

If they want to speak up, why not talk about these facts, or fact like the ammount of black babies aborted, or the percentage of abused children that are black, or the rate in which black children fall behind in math and reading. They have been out there for the lat 2 months agitating the communities with things we never thought we could hear coming out of any rational persons mouth, much less congresses. They won’t march on him not because of his race, but because they need it to become worse and create the dividing line deeper. I contend that this is well orchestrated and sadly, these evil world-power freaks are going to make it much worse for these master craving, dependent communities so they are ready to strike out when those behind the curtain are ready to strike out at America.

“If we can’t criticize a black president, then it’s all over.” Stop being one of the people and groups who are helping it be over. Criticize whomever needs criticized, offer a viable solution, and be a part of the solution.

We just need to get this misplaced manchild out of office and start cleaning up the place. We have to beat libs and Democrats; no comprise–beat them, vote them out, educate the ignorant. No more time to waste. Once we get this across to more folks, we will be climbing the mountain, not falling down it.

They call for violence over, and over again, hoping that someone else will commit it first. If the left strikes first, then their gameplan will be damaged.

Hey Mr Cleaver, you guys elected Mr Obama and he has had his chance over the last three years to get the changes made. Guess what then, you elected the socialist progressive there right now in the White House…accept it and live with it or help get him out of office in 2012.

    STOP THE RACE BAITING.
