CBS Misses Last Seconds of Final Four Game

CBS Misses Last Seconds of Final Four GameFans watching Saturday’s Kansas-Ohio State NCAA Final Four game on CBS missed the last seconds of the game. Why? CBS was showing a replay — not what was actually happening live on the court.

Yahoo Sports has more:

Ohio State’s Aaron Craft had just been called for a lane violation after intentionally missing a free throw with 2.8 seconds remaining in the game. While CBS was showing the replay of Craft’s overenthusiastic charge toward the basket, Kansas was inbounding the ball to run off the final seconds of the game. Kansas was clinging to a two-point lead and Ohio State was out of timeouts, so the game would end if the Jayhawks could run out the clock.

That’s exactly what happened, but viewers watching live on CBS didn’t see it

CBS was busy showing the Craft replay and failed to realize that there wouldn’t be any lag between the violation and inbound. As such, viewers missed almost two seconds of game play and when cameras finally caught up with the game, 1.7 seconds later, there was little more than one second left and the game was essentially over. It was completely confusing for all fans.

I think we’re all missing the point here. THE JAYHAWKS WON!!!! And no vehicles were harmed after the game.

I wanted to see if anyone else found the constant moving and changing of camara shots, camara shots moving from high to low very irritating.

I guess I’m getting old I prefer just a straight camara angle from right to left,

The camera man may be a good one but he doesn’t know basketball – He was the only one in the Super Dome who didn’t know that last free throw was going to be intentionally missed.

    CBS blows it.

I’ll tell you what, I‘ve watched the replay of the intentional missed free throw and he didn’t “Clearly” cross the line.
Yes, he was moving over the line, but his foot doesn’t touch the floor (over the line) until about the exact same time the ball touches the rim. It was ANYTHING but clear.

You can’t cross the plane. When you put your foot down doesn’t matter

      d. The free throw shooter may not cross the plane of the free throw line until the ball touches the basket ring, backboard, or the free throw ends.

You must be a soccer fan. This is the Wilt Chamberlin rule. He use to stand behind the line jump and dunk the ball before he touched the ground. The player may not cross the line before the ball contacts the rim.

This year it seems the sports people doing the announcing in these games have been the worst ever in my lifetime. They all seem to be partial to one of the two teams and their discussions of the plays have been ridiculous! Used to only trust ABC to give the best coverage as I used to watch sports there for years then ESPN TOOK OVER AND THE DOWNSLIDE HAVE BEEN DISGUSTING! I trust nothing that comes from ESPN these days!

I believe the Final Four games are telecast exclusively by CBS. Not that they are any better than in ESPN and their “ Ugly Bimbo Brigade”.
The ‘analyst” on the CBS team is an OSU alumnus who has a great gift of repitition, ‘right Jim’?

Sports and coverage has always been the best from all perspectives. Watching ESPN (Mon nite) learn is great. When is the last time you heard “That catch, made by a black man, was fantastic” NO! It is just great catch. Only in sports are we all mature enough to make it. I fear only a conservative Black man can put Humpty back together again. Go Allen West.

Well, normally the inbounds doesn’t happen that quick. Even in the replay of the final inbound, I miss where the ref blew the whistle cleared the play….I had to rewind 4 times to catch it. Even some of the Ohio State players didn’t know until after the ball was inbounded. I think….That was a crappy end to a terrific game.

Looks like another Hide moment too me! For those of you who don‘t know what I’m talking about, back in the late 70s or 80s the Raders were on Mondy Night Football, there was about 2 min. left in the game and the Raders were loosing, so ABC cut to the Monday Night Movie, Which was an old Shirly Temple movie called Hide, Any way we missed the Raders making a maraculus come back to win the game! And boy did ABC catch hell for that one!! And till this day they haven’t lived that one down, that is to those of us who were around then!! LOL!!!!

Man you got that right ,they can stick that camera on a cable where the sun don’t shine . The only people who like that ignorance are the people who thought it up ,it is completely annoying. That being said whats up with the replays I don’t need a terrible angle on the replays much less multiple bad angles ,from the top of the backboard ,from the poor shlup under the basket, from the goofy cable cam, from the moon. Just give me the good old press box angle for everything…PLEASE !!!

While we’re at it how about when you show me a replay, remove the crap at the bottom of the screen so I can actually see what the hell your supposed to be showing me.
