CBS News Reporter Suggests Obama Better at Combating Terror Than Bush

Former NBC News Washington bureau reporter and now CBS News Chief White House correspondent Norah O’Donnell is getting some attention for comments she made to Chris Matthews Sunday:
To claim that Barack Obama has more aggressively prosecuted the “war on terror” than George W. Bush…is an interesting statement to make.
Especially since President Mr. Obama has pretty much avoided even using the phrase.
While President Obama certainly merits credit for the successful raid that led to the killing of chief target Osama bin Laden, few would argue that George W. Bush was the one who drove the “war on terror” for the better part of two presidential terms. During his tenure the U.S. and allies were able to capture a great number of terrorists and enemies of the United States including Saddam Hussein, Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
And don’t forget that in May 2010 President Obama declared the “war on terror” to be over…that the United States was at war against the specific Al Qaeda network, not global terrorism.
While protecting the security of the United States and bringing justice to dark corners of the world is a serious matter and not some sort of political contest, perhaps Ms. O’Donnell should hold off on the anti-terror comparison.

I truly wonder if a conservative agenda can be moved forward in this country with this large “tea-party” mentality. Obama is much more of a warhawk than many people would have believed during his election campaign. There have been surges in the Middle East, more drone attacks, but also more US casualties. We’ve started fighting in Libya, made strikes in other countries, and killed OBL.
Now, whether that’s more aggressive than beginning two wars that put troops on the ground in the first place, that’s opinion. And as for being better? Well, I certainly don’t feel more secure now than I did almost 10 years ago!

We’ve put in more troops, opened up a new war, increased drone strikes, and killed OBL. We’ve also taken drastically more casualties. So yes, I could make an argument for “more aggressive.”
But “better,” as theblaze writer suggests? I disagree. I certainly don’t feel safer than I did after 9/11!

I have to agree with you.
A quick comarison of Bush v Obama:
Bush:
Take on terrorists in Afghanistan.
Pursued war on terror to the fullest.
No more major attacks occured.
Obama:
Apology tours around the war.
No more war on terror – now called ‘man made catastrophies’
Makes war on Americans – economic and governmental against freedom and liberties.
Makes war on Libya for no reasoning at all other than political.
Makes allies with our enemies.
Makes enemies of our allies – Britian and Israel.
Bows down to every other national dictator and tin plated thug.
Has decided to cut and run from Afghanistan.
Most likely will blame the people of USA and the soliders for his failure in Afghanistan.
Leaves the borders and defense of the nation at critical lack of security levels.
Just a short comparison of the two.

Posted on June 27, 2011 at 5:39pmYEAH THAT IS WHY IT TOOK CLINTON AND OTHER ADVISERS TO GET HIM TO GO AFTER GADDAFI, AS WELL AS GOING INTO LIBYA, AND DON’T FORGET THE SURGE.
Funny how it has taken our president over 100 days to capture Gaddafi, while it only took Bush 3 weeks to get Sadam. Now they aren’t terrorists per sea but you get who is more effective. And at least Bush can call it terrorism.
And remember that it took 100 day for the international courts to get an arrest warrant on Gaddafi and still they will probably get Gaddafi before Obama: http://tiny.cc/sjh35 . Funny how this still doesn’t solve the problem.
Remember that Clinton had a chance and decided not to do it, allowing 9/11 to happen.

Norah was asking the folks who were waiting in line for hours ,why they wanted HER(Palin) signature. Besides being condescending and arrogant to the Palin faithful, she actually started arguing with them. She looked like a chicken shaking her head back and forth at them when she couldnt get them to see her liberal side. When she reported it on MSNBC’s Morning RINO with Joe and Mika she started cackling. Laughter is supposed to be contagious , but not when this uppity liberal cackles on air. Its enough to make the few viewers they have left abandon them as well. Isnt her daddy the socialist Lawrence O’Donnell?
