CBS Reporter: White House Official ‘Screamed’ & ‘Cussed’ at Me for Coverage of ‘Fast and Furious’

CBS reporter Sharyl Attkisson has been doggedly covering the ATF and DOJ scandal surrounding the gunwalking “Fast and Furious” case. And now she’s coming out with some juicy details about her attempts to get information from the DOJ and the White House regarding the case.

On Laura Ingraham’s radio show Tuesday, Attkisson said she was “screamed” and “cussed” at by the White House while trying to get information last Friday, and that a DOJ spokesperson “yelled” at her while she was trying to get clarification on the case. And she named names.

Ingraham: So they were literally screaming at you?

Attkisson: Yes. Well the DOJ woman was just yelling at me. The guy from the White House on Friday night literally screamed at me and cussed at me.

Ingraham: Who was the person? Who was the person at Justice screaming?

Attkisson: Eric Schultz Oh, the person screaming was [DOJ spokeswoman] Tracy Schmaler, she was yelling not screaming. And the person who screamed at me was Eric Schultz at the White House.

Why such the reaction from the spokespeople?

“They will tell you that I’m the only reporter–as they told me–that is not reasonable,” she told Ingraham. “They say the Washington Post is reasonable, the LA Times is reasonable, the New York Times is reasonable, I’m the only one who thinks this is a story, and they think I’m unfair and biased by pursuing it.”

This all comes House RepublicanS are calling for a special investigation of Attorney General Eric Holder over his handling of the scandal and after it was revealed this week that Holder was sent briefings on the program as early as June 2010. That contradicts his statement under oath in May 2011 that he first heard about the operation “over the last few weeks.” Holder’s camp has tried to explain the contradiction by saying he was referring to the details of the case and not the case itself.

Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA) addressed the issue on Fox today and said he personally handed a letter to Holder on the issue in January of this year, which would also seem to contradict Holder’s defense:

    they were telling her to shut up and get in line, do as you are told,read and publish what we tell you and you will be fine, but if you don’t follow the rules, then you will be put in the gulags. now that she has broken prodigal, she will be fired,ABC does not like when the truth is told and they will deal with her swiftly, so i hope she is ready to join the rest of us,who are unemployed,and soon to be in the gulags.

It‘s obvious why Congress won’t bring an Impeachment hearing to the table, because more than half of the Republican Party are communist/progressives themselves.

      The Supreme Court won’t because they are nothing but a mouthpiece to whoever is sitting in the Executive Branch.

      I’m confused CBS – I was thinking the same thing – doesn’t CBS reporter Sharyl Attkisson know that this Dictator n chief and his entire administration is Teflon coated – untouchable – Messiah like – Bush’s fault – Eat your Peas – Republican get to the back of the Bus and the Tea Party will all go to Hell.

      Reporting the facts is way out of her job description and she needs to settle down and lust report Soros’s talking points – That’s it.

    I think you will see Holder get fired for this (as he should), but nobody else will, nor will any formal charges be brought on any of the players. Brian Terry and his family are the only ones who will pay for this unconscionable act.

      Problem is, if Obama fires Holder he will try to replace him with some other communist kook and wouldn’t that be worth the price of admission during an election – the House and Senate has to grow a pair and “impeach” Holder so “I, me my myself” has zero options and steps on his own scrotum – maybe there is justice after all ?

    There is evidently significant culpability on the part of the White House with evidence available if diligently pursued. This obviously goes farther up the ladder than Eric, See No Evil, Holder. This may be only part of the overall picture however. While sending guns to their favored cartel(at tax payer expense?) they may have been clearing the way for drugs from this cartel into the US and even protecting it while taking enforcement action against it;s competitors. And, for now, we’re not EVEN going into protecting the poppy fields n Afghanistan.

      I can‘t help wonder if someone investigated who wrote Hillary’s interview with Greta from Mexico in 09 when she first mentioned that was US guns used by the cartels to murder each other and citizens. I nearly fell out of my chair, everyone knew the guns were coming up from the Southern border along with the heavy drugs! Whoever wrote up that interview must have been privy to the info on Gun Runner and all the other projects by the various US depts.

    CBS reporters are supposed to be on Obama’s side and make him look good. In their eyes she is a traitor. If CBS reports the truth on this matter, it will really look bad for the administration.

    I wonder how much longer it will be before reporters like this one will start dissappearing. Never to be heard of again.

      JP, Whenever I heard about having a Democrat political figure before a federal judge I always think of Slick Willy Clinton. He lied under oath and that eventually led to a House of Representatives’ impeachment for obstruction of justice. The Senate, of course, acquitted him. Then like nothing happened he goes on to become one of the darlings of the Left. But who knows? Maybe holding Holder to the fire will make a difference. Attorney Generals have most definitely been used as White House escape goats in the recent past. The focus must remain strong on this issue but with equal a focus on the agent who died when murdered by one of these guns. Whatever Congress does to Holder will be a hand-slapping. Let’s just hope if he approved Fast and Furious and has hidden any facts about it that criminal charges are brought against him and that the family of Agent Brian A. Terry is allowed to sue the hell out of him in a civil trial.

    Yeah! Because she is doing her job as a journalist, not just a parrot for the white house, she gets yelled and screamed at. I will call my reps office today, and demand that the Justice dept be investigated, and prosecuted if the facts warrant it. All of us need to act, not just talk about it here! If enough people raise hell with enough representatives, something will be done. Holder, and the whole corrupt crowd over at justice need to go!

    Operatives in the Administration fuel a drug war in Mexico with illegal guns, and the reporter is unreasonable? This was a completely irresponsible operation approved by people with zero experience or common sense. There is no way that Holder did not know about this, and no way he would have approved it without Barry’s okay to cover his butt.

      There is the additional issue of violating international law by shipping arms to a foreign nation without it’s knowledge. Hillary knows about this too and so does Barry. I would bet they had many cabinet level discussions on how to spin this should the need arise. If this were the Bush admin, heads would be rolling (and would have been since May of 2010 anyway) down Penn. Ave.! To Barry &Co., it is SOP!

      This whole operation is an indictment on what the administration thinks of businessmen.. What they didn’t count on was the fact that gun dealers are law abiding citizens and patriots.. They thought for sure that greed and intimidation would handle the light work for their little plan and it backfired.. What they don‘t know is how to operate in an honest and legal manner and they didn’t see the exposure of the plan coming.. This was supposed to be a setup for an assault on the second amendment for sure.. Thank God for the incompetence that runs rampant through the obutthole administration or they may have gotten away with blaming this on the dealers they were trying to set up.. Thank God for honest and law abiding gun dealers and for their concern for law and order.. Something that the obama administration is unconstrained by..

      If this doesn‘t start an impeachment movement then Congress has lost it’s soul altogether.. Watergate was a sandbox game compared to this program that has cost countless lives in Mexico..

      Fox protects anyone who works for the military/industrial complex. Like Obama, and most of the other Republicans and Democrats.

      Those who do not support illegal wars, are subject to smear campaigns from Fox. When there are “two sides”, both of which support maintaining and furthering foreign military adventurism, Fox tends to lean a little to the side of fascism, rather than socialism, but ALWAYS to the authoritarian side.

      I fully agree with BOBED. Fox news is a little better tasting. It is no doubt designed to make you think a certain way as are the other MS outlets. Personally, the only thing I like about Fox news is waking up to see Jenna Lee. Telling me what happened while I was sleeping. Of coarse many real issues are blacked out across the board tho.
