Chaos in the Classroom: Kids Scream as Moms Brawl During Pre-School Graduation

This is the sort of thing you’d expect from pre-schoolers. But not the parents of pre-schoolers. Unfortunately, it was the latter group that was acting like kids in one Los Angeles area school after an all-out, chair-throwing brawl broke out during a tiny tots graduation ceremony.
A video posted by EAGNews.org, an education blog, captures several moms in an angry tussle as their children scream in the background:
The person who shot the video blamed the brawl, in part, on budget cuts:
“This all started because my son’s teacher was so unorganized. Basically because of budget issues all the kids had to share a cap and gown for pictures. One of the moms in the video was basically taking over and the other one didn’t like it and told her something about it. The sad part was that there was an older lady that got pushed and she actually hit her head on a bookshelf and I rushed to help her but when this other mom rush to help us the angry women actually attacked the other mom.”
But that may be only part of the story. Several witnesses told CBS in Los Angeles that the fight was “over a man.”
The fight broke out at Weemes Elementary School on June 7. The school district acknowledged the fracas and sent a letter home that read, in part, “It is unfortunate that adults chose to resolve a conflict in this way in front of our youngest boys and girls.”
“A few parents began arguing, which resulted in a parent being assaulted” Los Angeles Unified School District spokesman Tom Waldman told the New York Daily News.
No one was seriously hurt (one woman cut her lip) and no charges have been filed.

Come on there is only 2 important graduation ceremonys.
High school and college.
But the kids need to be praised.
Pre-schoolers! just give them a icecream cone.
But that is the thinking these days, the kids need to be praised every second of their lives for their work because they are special.

Graduation begins w/high school, not nursery school, kindergarten, elementary, jr high… Graduation is also a reminder that you’ve joined the adult world. It‘s a rite of passage like a driver’s license. Pushing it to lower grades cheapens it for all.

It’s the lamest of all ceremonies. Why buy 20 gowns for the kids to graduate in? IT”S PRE SCHOOL. Then to get into a fight. You can‘t control yourself to the degree that you don’t fight in fromt of children. When the mom who instigated the fight has her son or daughter goes to jail the first time & she wonders what she did. Take a look at this video maam. I doubt it‘s the first or last time you’ll be starting trouble.

I felt awful for the poor little ones who were forced to watch their mothers acting like violent, out-of-control toddlers themselves. I hope these kids don’t witness this sort of behavior from the adults in their lives regularly, but I wouldn’t be surprised. Lord protect these poor innocents, they have so much against them already. I can still hear the children of these hellions, crying out of fear, in the background. The really sad part is that none of the actors in this disgusting display feels any shame for their horrid behavior.

Posted on June 15, 2012 at 2:59pmI’ve been to pre-school and kindergarten graduations and the teachers made simple mortar boards for the kids to wear out of black construction paper. Then they added a wide ribbon sash (think Girl Scout uniform). The kids were thrilled and there were no problems. I guess for some of these kids, having some kind of rite of passage is important, so if they want a “graduation”, I’m good.
