Charlie Sheen’s Rehab May Cost CBS $250 Million

When the news broke last week about Charlie Sheen’s latest drug and porn star fueled binge we were first told that the highest paid actor on TV had suffered a hernia from laughing too hard. Seriously. Reported from the entertainment show Extra:
“He was having severe abdominal pains and went to the hospital,” his rep said, and other sources report that his hernia surgery could be happening today.
There was no hernia, at least not one caused by laughing too hard. As the story unfolded we did learn that Sheen had a 36 hour long party in his Beverly Hills home that allegedly included cocaine, booze and porn stars. 9-1-1 was called by a neighbor who also happens to be TV personality Real Housewife Adrienne Maloof-Nassif.
Sheen ended up in Cedar-Sinai Medical Center and subsequently his management informed the public that Charlie had checked into rehab. That was not true, instead Mr. Sheen would undergo his rehab treatment in the comfort of his own home.
Sheen has reportedly expressed an interest in getting help while keeping production on his hit show moving as scheduled. There are apparently eight episodes of “Two And A Half Men” yet to be taped this year. An extended in-patient rehab, which some have suggested, would mean shutting down production on the show and costing CBS upwards of $250 million dollars. It would seem that both CBS and Charlie Sheen have strong financial reasons for making this home rehab work. The same home that just a week before had hosted the party. Many experts in the rehab world think this is not a good idea.
Dr. Petros Levounis, the director of the Addiction Institute of New York at St. Lukes & Roosevelt Hospitals told the Daily News. “If something goes wrong, there are no resources available.”
While home rehab is not unheard of, one can understand the concerns Dr. Levounis has raised.
Currently Sheen’s parents are reportedly considering legal options similar to those taken when Britney Spears’ father managed to get a court order putting him in control of her financial empire back in 2008.
As of this writing and entering the important ratings sweep, CBS has only two completed episodes of “Two And A Half Men.” CNBC reports on just how much of an audience draw the Monday night ratings heavyweight is for CBS;
No other comedy has the drawing power of “Men,” which even in reruns averages bigger audiences (10.6 million, according to the Nielsen Co.) than first-run episodes of other network comedies, except for ABC’s “Modern Family” (14.6 million).
Following fast on the heels of Charlie Sheen’s hotel rampage in New York last October that ended in a hospital visit, and combined with the domestic assault charge to which he pled guilty in Colorado last summer, this certainly cannot be discounted as an isolated incident.

Posted on February 3, 2011 at 6:47amIs no one really, seriously concerned that a television show featuring an unrepentant misogynistic alcoholic who is verbally abusive to his mother, brother and nephew and features a constant dialogue of bathroom humor and sexual innuendo, deviant sex and gambling addiction could even be considered as acceptable, much less spend multiple years as the number one most watched television show?
And that’s without even mentioning the real, serious and public problems of the show’s star and lead character…
Granted – I may be the ONLY person here who doesn’t have cable or satellite TV. I simply cannot afford it (unemployment sucks…). But SOMEBODY is watching this show – a whole lot of ‘somebodies’ – and they think that this is good, quality entertainment!
And this, on a network that has thrown away whatever journalistic integrity it once had to, daily and nightly, spread lies, half-truths and propaganda in support of this already-failed administration, and against those of us who simply want to reign in government, spending and entitlements, create jobs and to give the next generations a chance to enjoy life, liberty and to pursue happiness.
Believe me: It ain’t easy to cull many facts out of the few choices for news on over-the-air TV. But, between my computer and my radio, at least I can keep up with reality…
I just don’t think many folks take into account the 24/7 brain washing of the ‘average’ TV viewer in America, into believing the lies, into accepting deviant lifestyles, into welcoming illegitimate religions and illegal immigrants…
Somehow, someone needs to stand up and take this on, head on! It really has become Orwellian, and it is accelerating the downfall of our Great Nation, and of Western Civilization.
Don’t believe me? Turn off your cable or satellite for a week. You will be shocked – and perhaps you’ll see that, until something is done, commercial network TV is – and will be – one of biggest deciding factors in the 2012 Presidential elections.
Be scared. Be very scared.

Posted on February 3, 2011 at 6:30ambeen there – done all of that — addiction killed her anyway
Report Post »the ONLY WAY an addict can overcome his or her disease is the individual’s sincere desire and will to beat it
some are strong enough to beat it – others simply cannot
getting an addict into rehab may keep them sober for some period of time, but without the addict taking full responsibility for their disease and working every single day to stay in control, remission is inevitable
those of you who criticize Sheen for being a pampered spoiled rich druggie apparently have not had a loved one who’s life was overtaken by addiction, and at one time I had the same feelings towards addicts, until addiction killed my beloved
Sheen would be an addict no matter if rich and famous or broke and a bum – it is a disease, have some compassion, and hope he has the strength to beat it

Posted on February 3, 2011 at 6:21amI am no longer a fan of the show and not because of Charile’s behavior either, it’s pervasive sexual theme has turned me off. I don‘t think there are many actors that could pull off that character and be so successful’ Charlie has a certain way about him that separates him from most Hollywood types, having a kind of “one of us” spirit about him. I love the entire Sheen clan except for their politics. Charlie, of them all I sense is the most tormented because he knows right from wrong but continues to battle his inward demons. I‘ve prayed for this man for a very long time and hope he turns his life around soon before it’s to late.

Posted on February 3, 2011 at 1:21amProbally because the only people this really effects are hypocritical conservatives that love to spout of about how much they love freedom and the constitution, but as soon a any “evil” drug is mention, freedom and liberty are traded in for government control
Drug control for conservative is like Gun Control for liberal. All logical and rational thought goes out the window in favor of vitriolic rhetoric.

Posted on February 3, 2011 at 8:10amTo The_Ancient;
I don’t know what your history is, but I have personally seen the damage done to average, everyday people by cocaine. I have seen businesses destroyed by it, marriages destroyed, friendships destroyed. I knew someone that committed suicide because of it. Pot just makes you lazy. Cocaine and speed make you crazy.
A former business partner still owes me $13,000 from 20 years ago, after I moved 1500 miles away from a western city and left him to run our small business. After I sold him my half, he was supposed to send me $200/month to pay it off and he did for about a year. Because of the time and distance involved, I can‘t prove cocaine was the reason for the business’ collapse, but in that business – a custom picture framing shop – we sometimes came in contact with artists that would offer us cocaine as payment for framing jobs. We usally said no, as we needed the cash, instead. BTW, the prior owner had “snorted away” his profits and we then bought the business from him.
I fail to understand how we are being hypocrites for expressing our concerns over the damage that Charlie Sheen is doing to other people with his behavior. Charlie Sheen doesn‘t personally affect me and I don’t watch his show, but as I have watched other people screw their lives up (and affect me), I just wanted to point out how “No man is an island” (if you remember the old song, from the 1960s?).
Report Post »the_ancient
Posted on February 3, 2011 at 9:07amIndirect “damage” has no place in the debate.
Liberals use this same rhetoric for there “war on guns” as conservatives to with the “war on drugs”
Liberal: “Guns Kills people and Destroy families and should be banned”
Conservative: “Drugs kill people and destroy families and should be banned”
Both statements are only true when people act irresponsibly.
There are 100′s, 1000′s of people that do all kinds of legal and illegal drugs and function perfectly fine. I know a person that has a disability the forces him to take a HUGE amount of pain killers, so much so that he has to worry about the DEA “busting” him because the DEA and “freedom” loving “conservatives” no better than his doctors how much pain killer is the correct amount.
I know business owners that recreationally use pot and they are far from “lazy” they use it like people drink a beer on the weekends.
Responsible adults can act responsibly and use drugs at the same time, BUT even if that is not the case you have a RIGHT to act irresponsibly and piss all of your money way and/or kill yourself if you choose to. IT IS YOUR LIFE. I, nor anyone else, should tell you how to live it, unless you DIRECTLY harm me via physical threat, damange to my property, or defraud me. Failing that you can do as you please.
If you want to have a joint on the week end, fine with me, want to snort a line using your money, great, or if you want to drink a few beers and watch a game, no problems.
Why is 1 of these activates “good and moral” and the other 2 “illegal and will end all of society”
Dont bother answering, there is no logic behind that. The simple answer is both Conservatives and Liberals LOVE big government, they just differ on what rules they want big government to enforce
I am sorry your business partner defrauded you, but do not blame the drug, BLAME YOUR BUSINESS PARTNER, he acted irresponsibly, the drugs nor more made him do that to you than the gun made the gang banger kill someone.
Finally, on the conservative hypocrisy that is the war on drugs, EVEN if I supported banning all drugs, at a MAXIMUM it should be done at the state level as Drug Control is not one of the delegated powers granted to the federal government, so the “true” constitutional conservative should always favor state only banns and should always be against federal banns, but that is almost never the case, they willing and happily give up 4th, 5th, 10th, and many other rights all in the name of keeping “evil drugs” off the streets.

Posted on February 3, 2011 at 12:45am“At home rehab?” I heard this story before. When my ex-husband decided he was really “serious” about getting off crack, he shopped around for a month and a half looking for a rehab center that would allow him to “run” our very successful business from it. It took the Bank seizing our business, and kicking him out of it, before he 1st tried rehab – which he promptly left after the first week. A month later, he tried rehab again – for 28 days. None of this worked because he really wasn’t serious about stopping the use of crack.
I suspect that in a short time, we will be reading Charlie Sheen’s obituary.

He has children. What a wonderful legacy dad is leaving them.
By purchasing cocaine and other illegal drugs, he is helping enable violence in foreign countries and the criminal element here.
He is hurting his employer and the other people that depend upon that employer for their wages. Yes, they made a mistake in hiring him, knowing his history. That is 20/20 hindsight. They made a deal with the devil, so to speak. Because of contractural agreements, if they don’t get back to taping soon – as the article suggests – major $$$ are going to be lost.
Robert Downey, Jr. was in such a place, 10+ years ago. He figured it out. I don’t know if it would work for Robert to slap Charlie around for an hour, then read him the riot act.

2> So the War on Drugs created an illegal black market and violence, and your defense of the War on Drugs is that the drug trade is a violent one…. wow that is some circular logic, Do you work for Obama???? they used the same logic for ObamaCare
3> That is a Civil Matter, one we have a process to solve. If he was in some kind of Accident or had something else happen they would be in the same spot, They can sue him personally to recover some or all of the loses, but at the end of the day they took the risk, and that has ZERO bearing on a discussion about freedom, nor is it the fault of the drugs, it is a fault of the PERSON.
4> Good for Robert. He decided he wanted something different from his life. That is his CHOICE. Some people choose differently that is also THEIR CHOICE.

Charlie has appeared numerous times on shows like Alex Jones infowars.com Radio Show and does public appearances to speak about his theories about 9/11 being an inside job [wearechange.org], the dangers of vaccines, and genocide through GMO foods. Needless to say, Charlie is a BIG thorn in the governments side. He has been a fave target since his campaign “30 min.’s with the president” where he awarded the winner of his contest 10k.
Anyone who finds the timing of this story coincidental is asleep at the wheel. There is no such thing as coincidences. As usual the elites will do all they can to divert your attention to the unimportant so you will not see what is right in front of you. While we are looking at Charlie we are missing the coming of WWIII through Egypt/Israel, Meat is being made in a Lab, and the Health Care Bill was NOT repealed.
