The Audi looks like an old car I just saw on American Pickers. It was driven by Mickey Rooney in a movie, they said, and was called a rocket car. It is powered by an Indian motorcycle engine and had a kick start lever.
I don‘t know why automakers don’t just use the bigger Harley engines for powering small cars like these. Inventing a hybrid between a motorcycle and a car (covered 4-wheeled motorcycle) would, I think, sell. Most of these concept cars will never see the actual street.

The Ford EVO looks pretty sweet. Maybe I’m biased. I own a Camaro (the odd ball out!) 2 Mustangs (the new one will be the Shelby MustangGT500 Super Snake when it’s finally delivered). I also own a beater Ford PU that I use on my property, and an F-150 lightening that was worked over by the Rouche racing team.

I love Ford products. I let my sis or brother drive the Camaro when they visit! I’m EVIL!

The Detroit Car Show a few years back was when I became a huge fan of the Ford Mustang. I met Jack Rouch at that show and he talked me into upgrading to the SVT. He’s stood by every sniffle that car has ever made (which hasn’t been more than twice). We’ll see if the Shelby lives up to that standard.

Funny, but you guys should note you have to open the front door before the rear door will open…

I like gullwing doors myself (but not by ford). You don’t hit other cars nor do you hit the door with your feet getting out. However if you flip your car upside down there is zero chance of getting the door open.

Kia use to be the butt end of jokes. No longer. Detroit needs to take a lesson from Kia/Hyundai. I bought a 2007 Kia New, 80k miles so far and not a single issue. Can’t say that for previous American Made cars I had bought new. I had bought a 1998 Kia Sportage new back in the day. IT was the worst car ever! I swore of Kia’s, until they seemed to change their business model back around 2007.

Was going to mention that. The Can-Am Spyder is a popular trike for upscale riders (cost is around $16-$22K depending on model). I’ve talked with older riders who switched from two-wheelers to the Can-Am and they love it! Rode one at Sturgis a couple of years ago too. Comfortable, plenty of power for two-up, but not so great on fuel milage…Might get one myself some day!

Is this the design before applying crash standards? I am having a little trouble imagining coming up behind or alongside the Audi on wet pavement. I think I see four rooster tails of water coming off of each wheel in a rain storm. Those wheels look like bald tires to me. Maybe that keeps them from picking up and throwing so much water, oil and mud.

I had the same thought but those fenders should do a pretty good job; snow packing in them may be a problem. Also, don‘t bump the curb when parking or you’ll be replacing the fender. Concept cars are mechanical eye-candy; looks beautiful but will probably be shallow; your eye will be wondering again shortly there after.

If Detroit had been allowed to fail, the fresh new companies that stepped in to take their place would be giving us what we want by now. GM, Dodge, and Ford are the greatest powers against auto innovation and improvement.

It’s just a matter of time until GM declares bankruptcy once again. And once again, the unions will steal from the investors, and consumers will be re-screwed.

Well said. I saw this coming DECADES ago. A friend of mine in Ohio had a father who “worked” at Ford. Up from West Virginia, this man was a complete imbecile; unable to hardly write or speak intelligently. Why did he drop his blunderbuss and move to OH? A union job at “Fords” (their pronunciation). He made $38 bucks an hour…in 1975! I went to work with him one day with his son on a “take your son to work day”. ILLUMINATING. They punched in, began drinking and playing cards. NO work! One of the managers showed up; they pointed to the shop steward, who was “God” and said to ask him whatever he wanted. He WANTED these men to go to work! Tough…..

They did no work (except for sweeping up their ashes and litter for the day). When I asked this man if he actually built cars, he replied; sometimes, but this was a “lag-time” between re-fittings”. “The union mandated that we work during this time, so we sit around and play cards.” How long was this going on, I asked. “”Oh, about two months now”, was the reply.

THEN these people went on strike…for more money and benefits! They got 95% “strike pay”…..

Then the “sticker shock” of the following years…..I wasn’t surprised, with these dillweeds making cars….and it is NOT a surprise to me that Hyndai, KIA, et. al. are cleaning their clocks.

Americans are too STUPID to realize this.

Have an old 2000-4cyl-caravan. It only has dual-overhead-cams, 4-valves-per-cyl., and if you look at the drawings, itlooks almost like a small HEMI. I get 27mpg goeing 70-80mph through the Smokeys,
and 29-30mph, normally on most long trips w/o-mountains. It weighs 3600lbs + gas, oil, luggage, etc… . The great minds of Chrysler, in their glorious wisdom(D’Oh!) have scrapped this engine for a large V6 with 8(?)speed auto-trans which gets less actual milage and adds 200+ pounds to the front end to help add to the overstear, which the old model didnot have. All I added was a washable airfilter, got rid of their defective spark-coil pack(new one is NAPA) and replaced the front struts which failed after 1and one-half years…amost 90thousand miles and goeing strong.
