On Sunday, clouds formed over Panama City Beach, Fla., making it look like the waves of the ocean had extended in a mist over shoreline’s high-rise residences.

Check out the image in CNN’s report:
As CNN states, these are not considered clouds caused by the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability. We reported on this phenomenon making wave-like clouds in Alabama in Dec. 2011.
The Weather Channel’s Greg Forbes explain what happened in Florida to create these clouds:
The Huffington Post reports that the image was captured by pilot JR Hott of Panhandle Helicopters.

Posted on February 8, 2012 at 2:56pmI live not two hours away over south of Tally, and not fifteen minutes from a beach. I see this type of fog quite a bit but it is sort of unusual for it to go over the tops. Most of the time it dissipates before you get that high, maybe the dew point was high and there was a direct sea wind hitting flat on the resorts. That would probably do it. Who knows but nothing really unusual, it’s just sea fog.

Posted on February 8, 2012 at 2:51pmI live in the panhandle I see it quite a bit. This actually isn’t pretty odd for me, what‘s odd is that I don’t see any snowbirds on the beach.

Posted on February 7, 2012 at 9:36pmLooks like the lifting condensation level (altitude at which clouds begin to form) was about half the height of those hotels. As the gentleman pointed out, you need just the right combination of relative humidity and temperature profile to get this impressive phenomenon.

Posted on February 7, 2012 at 11:25pmAn Atmosphere laden with barium, aluminum oxides, ethylene dibromide and mycoplasmas
would have nothing to do with the weather anomalous ?
Have you been forgetful lately or just can’t seem to spell sometimes or all of a sudden have dyslexia type symptoms? Aluminum exposure. Also responsible for Thyroid and endocrine problems in addition to Alzheimers and Autism.
Have You been getting chest pains, headaches and stomach pains that are out of the ordinary lately?
Thats barium.
All I know about the Ethylene Dibromide is that it is a Carcinogen, and Mycoplasmas are what the Gulf War Syndrome soldiers ,got.
You can try and discredit what I say, and I can simply show the people these:

Posted on February 7, 2012 at 7:16pmIn Florida and Georgia you see these inversions all the time when warm moist air meets with cool moist air, which creates a cloud like formation. In come cases you have clear view above the inversion and a clear view below the inversion and the cloud like phenomena hangs in the air.
Having said this, it is cool to see it occur at the shoreline and then watch it rise over the buildings.

Posted on February 7, 2012 at 6:48pmExperienced this phenomenon on Venice Beach early one morning on the seaward side of a 12 story residential high-rise.
Report Post »At the 10th floor, the cloud was so thick, I couldn’t see the other engineer at the other end of a 20’ swing stage platform.
