Check Out These DIY Weapons Made Using…Trash

Joerg Sprave has done it again. The man who maintains the Slingshot Channel on YouTube has released yet another DIY tutorial of weapons made from every day items. This time he is showing you how to weaponize your own trash.

(Related: Ever wanted to know how to turn office supplies into mini weapons? Here’s your video)

Responding to a challenge from COLORS magazine, Sprave dives into items salvaged from garbage. He headed to his local forest to forage for the trash, which may seem like unusual location, but he seems to have found a broom handle, cat food cans, a pair of jeans, clothes line, crushed red chili (he calls this a “valuable find”), a perfume bottle, batteries, a clothes pin and a pair of “quite clean” and “snappy” rubber gloves. One can only imagine what Sprave will make from these items, but here’s a quick list to fill you in:

  • “Very, very vicious red” pepper spray
  • Bolas
  • Crossbow

    Further proof that you cannot outlaw weapons. The only way to keep people from being able to obtain or make weapons is to put them to sleep. The human mind is creative and if there is the will, there is a way. Even if big bro took all of our guns and ammo today, people like myself would be buying rigid industrial pipe, car batteries, charcoal, dusting sulfur, and tree stump remover. With these inocuous items, I could build a crude gun or a pipe bomb. If you sold me powdered aluminum and I was able to scrounge up some rust metal, then I could make incendiary bombs as well. And this is the hard to do stuff. An even easier weapon would be a 5 gallon can of gasoline, like the ones in my garden shed right now.

    No, you cannot outlaw weapons and to try is a futile effort of an ignorant and scared human being.

    And sooner or later some killer nerd is going to show up on the internet with instructions on how to turn a Super Soaker into a flamethrower.

    Weapons from the trash? Metal snips + can lids = unlimited supply of crude shurikens. They aren’t very accurate, but if you whip them at a dude a handful at a time, you can’t fail to slice him to ribbons.

    Love this guy!!! I have a challenge for Joerg. How about making some weapons out of the trash in DC? Or maybe not, they‘d probably cost too much and wouldn’t work!

      I agree, but knowing how to build some of these items could be critical. The firearms are only good as long as you have ammo.

      @JAKARTAMAN
      I’ve always wanted to fire a BAR never had the chance. If you have one thats awesome.
      @TAQUOSHI
      That’s why you have lots and lots and lots of ammo . Besides loaded gun vs. trash weapons = gun wins every single time.

      Browning BAR he’s most like referring to is one of their high-line hunting rifles, described thus:

      “The BAR is a gas-operated, semi-automatic rifle produced by the Browning Arms Company first in Belgium and later in Japan. The rifle loads from a box magazine detachable from a hinged floor plate. This rifle should not be confused with the M1918 military rifle, which is a completely different design sharing no parts, though also referred to as the BAR. Browning introduced a redesigned BAR in 2004.
      There are several models of the Browning BAR; Safari, Long- and ShortTrac, and Lightweight Stalker. Both LongTrac and ShortTrac versions are available in a Mossy Oak takedown, basic, and Stalker variant.
      The Safari model is the most luxurious model in the BAR-line, with an engraved steel receiver and more luxurious walnut stock. The barrel is 22, 23, or 24 inches long depending on the caliber. The Safari is the only model with the Browning BOSS (Ballistic Optimizing Shooting System). The system reduces recoil and should enhance accuracy with an adjustable muzzle brake and -weight.”

      I’ve always wanted a BAR hunting rifle myself. They’re fine specimens and one of only a few semi-auto rifles capable of matching the accuracy and precision of their bolt-action counterparts.
