Cheney: Obama Owes Bush an Apology After Al-Awlaki Killing

Cheney: Obama Owes Bush an Apology After Al Awlaki KillingFormer Vice President Dick Cheney praised the Obama administration for taking out high-ranking Al-Qaeda member Anwar al-Awlaki this week, but said President Barack Obama should now apologize to former President George W. Bush for his past criticism of Bush’s actions on the war on terror.

Cheney recalled Obama’s previous condemnation of so-called “enhanced interrogation techniques,” and said the strike against al-Awlaki, an American citizen, shows the administration has “moved in the direction of taking robust action when they feel it is justified.”

“I think it was a very good strike. I think it was justified,” Cheney said in an interview Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.“ ”I‘m waiting for the administration to go back and correct something they said two years ago when they criticized us for quote ’overreacting’ to the events of 9/11.”

“They in effect said we had walked away from our ideals, taking policy contrary to our ideals when we had enhanced interrogation techniques,” Cheney said. “What he said then was inaccurate especially now in light of what they are doing with policy.”

In addition to al-Awlaki, the strike also killed Samir Khan — also an American — and two others traveling in al-Awlaki’s car.

Obama has been criticized for approving the killing of an American citizen without due process. Republican presidential contenders Ron Paul and Gary Johnson were particularly critical of the strike, with Paul referring to it as “assassination.”

Cheney dismissed those notions, calling it “the difference between a law enforcement action and a war, and we are at war.”

The former vice president also praised Obama’s repeal of the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy banning gays and lesbians from serving openly in the military.

“I think the decision that’s been made with respect to allowing gays to serve openly in the military is a good one” Cheney said. “It’s the right thing to do.”

Excellent idea! This young man gives me hope for America.

There was a time when angel investors were willing to fund young entrepreneurs. Where are those wealthy investors now? While their country is falling apart, Buffett and “Googleman” sit on their derrieres, waiting for the President to tax them more. Pathetic!

Hopw amazing that Obama and Cheney both agree on military policy, lol!

Most republicans share a common belief with Obama – that the government should be involved in every aspect of every problem. It’s called statism, and they are all statists, same as most modern democrats.

For the protesters in NYC, and the Tea Party, there is a common ground for them if they find there is another axis of existence. The whole world isn’t a choice of “big government doing welfare” or “big government waging wars”. That’s one-dimensional thinking.

Its interesting that you seem to know what so many people are thinking. Common ground – don’t think so! Tea Party people do NOT want government in every aspect of our lives. Where did you get that from? Just the opposite is true. We want war? On my gosh, what planet did you come from? Look at tapes of Tea Party gatherings then compare them with the Day of Rage protesters and the union protesters. If you can’t see a dramatic difference, then you have distorted vision and distorted opinions.

Cheney, and Rusmfeld and Bush (in that order) will continue to try to rewrite history. The US invaded a country, Iraq, that did not have the WMD that Cheney gave as justification for the war. None, and 5000 dead Americans. We tortured people with the same methods that the United States of America has prosecuted others for. And now with Iraq a helpless state, Iran has become the dominant military force in the Middle East. The US is now viewed by the world not so much as the “good guys” but the “loose cannon” guys. As a result of Cheney’s policies, our credibility has fallen and most of the world views us, no longer as the heroes of WWII, and the moral standard of the world, but as a slightly scary, slightly immoral bumbling giant, an aging giant.

Now, thanks to President Obama, the United States is going after the real bad guys, instead of tilting at windmills.

Of course Cheney wants to try to put a postive slant on a period of history that will likely be viewed as one of the worst in American history, even without the economic collapse under Bush.

      @IntegrityFirst08,
Actually, you are completely backwards in your assessment about Libertarians. Maybe the definition of “Libertarian” will help you find alittle bit of truth.

Libertarianism is the political philosophy that holds individual liberty as the basic moral principle of society or approximates that view. Libertarianism includes diverse beliefs, all advocating minimization of governmental activity and sharing the goal of maximizing individual liberty and political freedom.

But don’t let that get in the way of your mud slinging.

Have you noticed that when you post stuff such as “Libertarians arnt cool. Far from it. loser”, you don’t get a big rise out of said libertarian? It’s because we believe that YOU are entitled to YOUR beliefs…no matter how moronic they may be.

I would also like to point out that the Libertarian political ideology only ask one question . When is violence justified? There is only one answer, Only in response or reaction to a infringement of ones personal or private property. So ask yourself this and follow it to the logical conclusion, What if i refuse to cooperate? If it leads to a violent conclusion , then i would have to believe that its a bad thing. Pres. Reagan quote “the core of Republicanism is Libertarianism. Thanks Ronny :).

I’m likely more “conservative” than you moron… Sure the dotbom/housing bubble started under Clinton, but the economy was allowed to overstimulate on artificially low low interest rates, massive liquidity, and manipulation of financial markets. Bush turned it into a hyper-bubble. Do some homework, assign blame appropriately, then you won’t be so ignorant!

      @Liber

And yet you got some of that wrong, housing bubble occured before Bush even took office, No Child Left Behind I do agree with you on, however. Bailouts on the degree that we‘ve seen NOW are not Bush’s fault, and the debt? You do realize that in our two years Obama skyrocketed our debt right? It took Bush eight years to raise our debt from seven to ten trillion, it took obama only two years to raise our debt to fourteen trillion.

Also, with the Patriot Act. You seem to have forgotten that the new version of it that Obama signed is WORSE than the one Bush signed (Law Enforcement no longer NEEDS A WARRANT for some cases, amongst other things)

We also have the unconstitutional HCR, the illegal Dream Act, Obama’s weakening of our country (seriously, reducing our air defense? Destroying a large number of our ICBM’s and Nuclear Missiles?) Not to mention that liar in chief actually thinks Russia will honour their side of the deal (they won’t). So YES, Bush is lookin better each and every day, at least BUSH Knew how to handle hostile countries (NK, Pakistan, Iran) and didn‘t bow down or apologize for things that didn’t even NEED an apology. Obama has made our country look weak, and if he gets re-elected, it’ll only get much worse. The economy right now is also in worse straits than it was when Bush was in office!

Obama is a complete and utter disaster. Not debating that. But Bush and Greenspan had thier foot on the accelerator at an unprecedented level.

Instead of letting the economy take its medicine after the mal-investment from the dotcom bubble, and purge excesses via recession, the Bushies put the economy on steroids with artificially low interest rates and massive liquidity injections.

Additionally, The Working Group on Financial Markets (Executive Order 12631) known as the Plunge Protection Team routinely manipulated financial markets most notable gold, bonds and U.S. Stocks through derivatives.

And if you remember your history, the Bushies threatened Martial Law if TARP wasn’t passed… That’s how bad they botched it! Obama had nothing to do with that level of collapse. Now Obama is sowing the seeds of a much worse financial meltdown akin to a Greatest Depression times three.

Make no mistake, the right does no favor to the cause of truth or liberty by ignoring Bush’s culpability in this financial fiasco!

You’re right. Bush made long lasting serious mistakes, and had a hand in the mess we’re in now, but his administration and allowance for getting intelligence at any cost to protect Americans kept us from getting hit again after 9-11. Bush will look much better to history for this underrated acomplishment, but no one will probably remember No Child Left Behind in 75 years. Obama on the other hand, I think other than being biracial will be remembered for his failures and God Willing as a another one term President. History will probably say the American populace was taken in by the Hope and Change propaganda and fell for a man preaching leftist ideals that went too strongly against the grain of the American people’s ideals and beliefs.

The dotcom bubble creation was Clinton’s creation and responsibility. However, there was so much money misallocated in the economy (such as over investment in tech, fiber optics, infrastructure, etc) that we needed a recession to purge out the non-performing debt an assets. Instead, bush put the economy on steroids and crack by supercharging the economy with liquidity, which caused an epic derivatives and housing bubble much worse than what the dotcoms were. Bush didn’t want to take the heat of a prolonged recession so compounded the problem. Now Obama is pumping trillions into this broken beast with garbage stimulus and job bills. Make no mistake, Bush massively ruined our economy over his 8-year tenure. Obama is just finishing the job.

Public officials, candidates and the media must address Obama’s ineligibility or be dismissed as untrustworthy!

Constitution, Art. 2, Sec. 1, “No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible … .”

Exempting a “citizen” from being a “natural born citizen” proves they aren’t equal, or no exemption was needed. Being not less than nor equal, a NBC must be more than the minimum requisite for citizenship then, which was US birth to a US citizen parent. Only US birth to US citizen parents (plural) is greater, thus defining a natural born citizen.[1]

The Supreme Court agreed in Minor v. Happersett, 1874. “The Court held that Minor was a member of the “class” of persons who were natural born citizens. They defined this class as those born in the US to “parents” (plural) who were citizens.” – Leo Donofrio, JD.

Even if born in HI, Obama is not a natural born citizen! His Kenyan father precludes eligibility.

Usurpers are arrested, not impeached. Obama must be prosecuted for using an alleged fraudulent social security number and birth certificate in usurping the Presidency! Then every law, executive order and appointment Obama inflicted on us is invalidated.

Please petition your Sheriff and others to investigate Obama now!

TeapartyConman, stop lying to the people. You know perfectly well that in Minor v Happersett the Supreme Court specifically stated that the full definition of a natural born citizen was not a settled issue and that they were not ruling on it because it had nothing to do with the case at hand.

“Some authorities go further and include as citizens children born within the jurisdiction without reference to the citizenship of their parents. As to this class there have been doubts, but never as to the first. For the purposes of this case it is not necessary to solve these doubts.”

And you also know that they did finally rule on it in US v Wong Kim Ark (1898). That’s the binding precedent that has been the law of our land ever since, and it says you just have to be born here, it doesn’t matter who your parents were.

Cheney is 100% right to point out that Obama is as two faced as one can get.

Keep in mind Obama was playing to the Left when he was making all the stupid remarks about “enhanced interrogation techniques.”

Now he’s playing for votes where ever they may be.

Be informed that if this idiot were elected next year it would take no time at all for him to go full tilt to the Radical Left where he grew up, under Communist controlled family and later college friends and the Marxist Rev Wright.

Uh………Obama is a centrist by any measure, and honestly could be classified as a moderate Republican of late. Most of his proposals are those Republicans have suggested in recent years.

The calling him a “Socialist” (etc.) is for the far right who don’t have an extensive vocabulary and just want to be negative.

I agree with Mr. Cheney but I’m afraid that apology will never happen . Barry has NEVER admitted he was wrong on anything he’s done or said . I bet you a bucket of Obama Fried Chicken he apologizes and admits he’s wrong to the Queen Of Target photo ops .

There is a difference between an American citizen and a war criminal.

Taking out a commander of enemy elements killing or attempting to kill American and allied troops is different in what way, even if he is American born? An American citizenship does not make for special molly coddling when a person actively goes to war against this nation! If you know something that I don’t know, please show me something otherwise in the Constitution, U.S. Codes, or even the UCMJ.

Cheney is like the hunting partner who walks up to YOUR kill and says, “We got him.” He’s a candya$$ half a man who doesn’t have the wits or skill to avoid shooting his friend in the face.

President Devaluation, President Jobless, President Foreclosure, President Apology, would Never stoop to throw a good word toward George,Cheney or Rummy. This Piece of excrement in the Whitehouse will never praise these people for his being able to proclaim his prowess in killing terrorists.

    I will
Thanks George, Dick, and Rummy for putting in place the ability to track and kill these vermin.

    >Vice President Cheney. Obama doesn’t apologize to those who are right and love America… he apologizes to those who are wrong and hate America. It’s the Obama way!

Are you talking about Cheney or Obama? I think they should both apologize.

If he had killed thousands of guys who might be terrorists, then he’d owe you an apology. Since he just killed one guy who we know was a terrorist, it’s still fair to say that you overreacted.

      @ Randy

Please don’t feed the trolls. It just encourages them to spew more progressive socialist demon-ocratic anti-American subversion. If you find you can’t resist the urge to play with the low hanging fruit such as Chet Hemphead, you might try this little convenient phrase which I find suffices quite nicely. Observe.

      @ Chet Hemphead
Begone, foul Obot. Your very name screams treason and ignorance.

      Give it a try sometime.

And now for something completely different…

Want to hear what Rush had to say about Obama’s ineligibility, that Glenn was too chicken to report?

Killing your enemies in time of war is what you’re supposed to do. Torturing them isn’t. Obama has conducted our wars honorably. Cheney is a mad dog that should have been put to sleep years ago.

And what evidence was presented for you to KNOW he was a terrorist? They didn’t even have a grand jury indictment…they didn’t need him to be present for that process. How did they let him fly out of the country after eating lunch at the white house? hhmmmm
