Chicago Alderman Joe Moreno Vowing to Block Chick Fil A Suggests Company Discriminates Against GaysThe Chicago alderman threatening to block construction of a Chick-Fil-A restaurant over the company’s same-sex marriage stance on Friday seemed to accuse the fast food chain of discriminating against gays in its business practices — a first in the now weeks-old controversy.

“I’ve said from the beginning, it’s not about what people believe or what they say — that’s protected and I would be the first to protect any of that,” Alderman Joe Moreno said on CNN’s “Starting Point.“ ”If those beliefs or those sayings transfer into a policy that discriminates in hiring or in serving then that’s when I have an issue with it and the community has an issue with it.”

“But has there ever been a complaint against this company for — this is the personal opinion of the president of the company, I mean, you could say that with 9.4 percent unemployment in Chicago, should you be stalling or denying any new jobs created just because you don’t agree with what the guy thinks?” host Christine Romans asked.

Moreno called Romans’ premise incorrect, and said it’s not about him disagreeing with Chick-Fil-A President Dan Cathy.

“He used the language as a ‘we’ and ‘we were going to do this’ and ‘we’re going to do this,’” Moreno said. “That’s more than one person. And, again, it doesn’t matter to me about anyone’s beliefs. They have the right to do that or what they say. That’s been mischaracterized in this discussion by some. The bottom line is that if the discriminatory policies are there or there are lack of protections that are there for a constituency that is very much alive and thriving in Chicago, then I have an issue with that, just as we have in our civil rights history.”

TheBlaze’s Will Cain, a “Starting Point” panel guest, told Moreno he was breaking news because Cain had never heard of an allegation of discrimination against Chick-Fil-A.

“Well, I would suggest that if you’ve never heard that if you talk to the Civil Rights Agenda, which is a LGBTQ group that is dealing with some issues just like that, in terms of firing or being felt unwelcome and inappropriate in their hiring of individuals that are in the LGBT community. They are working on that,” Moreno said.

Cain said Moreno was changing his message after never having brought up discrimination allegations before.

Romans later said CNN has not substantiated any of the discrimination claims, and asked Moreno that if they turn out to be false, “you’re not going to let the opinion of the president stop you from creating jobs in your district?”

“Again, eight or nine months I have been working on this without any public exposure from me or from the LGBT group or from Chick-fil-A,” Moreno said. “We’ve been working on this and this is their words, not mine, they will no longer donate dollars to any organization left, right, or center that has a political agenda. That was one thing that we were working on.”

      If I owned a restaurant chain and a city did not want me there due to my being a Christian, then I would choose a different city to do business. Why would I try to force my will on a unwilling customer?

      Chickafil, there are plenty of good cities to do business in. Chicago (Sodom) is not one of them

      Why do the private businesses have to be dictated to by the cities and towns. Can a town tell Home Depot or Target to stop donating to pro-gay causes? I feel unwelcomed at Target. Does that give me the right to demand Target dance to my tune?

      As a government offical he swore to protect and defend the Constitution now he’s discriminating against a business because that business owner voiced an oppinion. He didn’t deny service or refuse to hire anyone whose gay .he simply stated his oppinion and they told the Lisa Jackson EPA hit them so hard ebveryone else will get in line stance.

The aldermen should be removed for failing to respect the Constitution. The Constitution provides the right to practice opposing views. The alderman should shut his trap and follow the Constitution. Who has to go LOOK for this in any one company? I know, anyone who is trying to make it so – where it is not so. Otherwise, the claims would already BE there but they aren’t. Keep working on that effort of “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Even if that means making shiot up.

    I don’t know about anywhere else, but here in the Georgia (original home of the Dwarf House, which is now Chick-fil-A) the resturants have been packed, they’re always busy, but for the last couple of days it has been crazy! I wonder why! hehe!

      Chick-fil-a is the only fast food place we ever eat at (Atlantans here!) and I have *never* seen it so busy!! We’ve gone maybe twice since the commotion started, and both times the place was slammin’. Can’t see CFA is hurting over this.

    Those promoting the gay agenda will plant employees in various restaurants and just like Sandra Fluke positioned herself to be at the Catholic college to complain about lack of free contraception with health care they will start yelling discrimination. The people who say they support homosexuals (it is the Christian thing to do) don’t realize that the gays will keep pushing their agenda until just saying you agree with the Bible will be hate speech.

    Politician pretends to be outraged about a non-issue, and promises swift righteous action to protect not only the public’s safety, but their feelings.

    Politician uses the media as a club to beat on the non-issue.

    Non-issue goes away, and politican gets points for protecting the…(insert whatever underprivlidged group or cause you wish).

    UNLESS….

    The non-issue doesn’t go away, or even worse has the courage to fight back.

    Media sensing a fight stirs it up.

    Politician backtracks, and becomes humble. Tells everyone that will listen (or cares) that he didn’t really say those things, and if he did, it’s being mis-characterized.

    Politician hides for a few weeks until somthing bigger or real pops up, and they go about the business of trying to be relevant again.

    At heart most liberals are cowards. They can‘t stand on their principles because they don’t really have any.

    The only thing Chick Filet needs to worry about is how good their chicken sandwiches are. Everything else is posturing and cheap whiskey.

    What’s sad is these guys have all the empty skulls on facebook thinking that Chik-Fil-A actually does discriminate. That’s the thing about this game they play. They lie lie lie and it becomes more prevalent than the truth. So now the majority of empty skulls think that the truth is Chik-Fil-A won’t hire gays or serve them food.

    And Alderman can get away with it because when he goes on the air he can clearly say that he’s not the one on facebook pushing these lies.

    I would like to see a defamation suit against Alderman and Emanuel for spreading lies about Chik-Fil-A which will effect the bottom line.

      I imagine that the discrimination complaints will be based on those homosexuals who DIDN’T apply to work at Chick-Fil-A because of the “perceived” hostile work environment. New anti-discrimination language will soon be added to current law via Executive Order by Barry.

      Something like – “Thoughts or opinions upholding traditional heterosexual couplings are deemed to be discriminatory against those with different sexual preferences.”

    In short..Moreno is saying that because Cathy is personally against homosexual marriage then his business is to be vilified and targeted for arbitrary and retaliatory action..regardless of whether Chick Fil A has actually ever discriminated against a homosexual in it’s existence. For the mere act of Cathy speaking his personal beliefs Moreno feels the entire business is to be hounded out of existence..again regardless of any actual discrimination taking place.
    The dementia among liberals today is that homosexuals are a coddled class. They are to be elevated above all others, revered, praised and treated better than anyone else. I’m sure the day is coming when liberals will say openly that homosexuals are better than us. Liberals do not look at a person’s character..rather they evaluate a person through secondary prisms like race, sexual orientation, political leanings..etc. So what Moreno is saying is that Cathy can have his views but his business will be targeted for his having those views regardless of whether the business itself has ever acted in a discriminatory way..simply because Cathy believes what he believes.
    I particularly liked Moreno’s “we’ve been working on this for months with LGBTABCDEFG groups”. In other words..he has nothing on Chick Fil A .

      SHAGRATH…the “Q” is meant to be “queer”.
      And you’re right..the L and G are the same only apparently it’s important to make sure females and males are distiinguished from one another for some reason. An “H” would work better “homosexual” but…then we wouldnt’ be coddling them as is required by our liberal keepers.
      The “B” is the one that bugs them the most. Bisexuals are the contradiction to the “born this way” meme. You see..bisexuals can choose their partners and usually end up with the opposite sex simply because there’s more available to them.
      I‘m a believer that homosexuality and it’s related states of mind are a mental state not a genetic one. The APA removed homosexuality from it’s list of psychological disorders not because research demanded it..but because lobby grouups demanded it.
      So without realizing it the homosexual lobby has created the umbrella “LGBT” which confirms the variety of states of mind related to homosexualty but still insist it’s a genetic predisposition…while no genetic pointer to homosexuality has ever been found. See how it works?

      oh, you just don’t understand…chick fil a just doesn’t fit in with “chicago family values”.. according to emanuel..you know..chicago..the murder cap of america..rape.drugs..those really inspiring.. chicago family values…chick fil a creates jobs, chicago allows destruction to run amuck in it’s streets..

    Typical of the Chicago way when aligned with the radical politics of the leftists; they have no tolerance for anything that is not part of their hide bound, tunnel vision view of the world. He seems to not understand that in declaring this opposition to the business right to develop in Chicago, he is showing his own discrimination against them – thus a lawsuit could be coming.

    Hypocrisy at its best. If a mayor were to BAN a company because it has a PRO-GAY stance there would be riots in the street. Since when did living your life according to Biblical principals become a bad thing? That’s all that Cathy said. He’s never discriminated against anyone. There is no sign on the door that says “No gays”. Now grow up and move on, people.

      @GONZO .. it is about 20 miles from my home .. and I am NOT an early morning person (today was the exception but I had a little doggie with a tummy ache) I am gluten free .. and I went on the website .. looks like my best meals are lunch and dinner .. they have a chicken and fruit salad that sounds good and I can have their waffle fries! I will probably buy enough for both meals in one stop .. take home a chicken sandwich (minus the bun) and fries for lunch and get the salad and put in fridge for dinner . OH AND A NICE BIG DRINK .. hear that BLOOMY!

You know..the hero of the city who even had a day named after him there..and was caught recently with some of the most disturbing child porn you can imagine. Apparently the human rights of the infants he was demanding be sexually assaulted don’t count..he paid particularly ferocity to the black infants he was viewing if the transcripts are accurate.
