Donald A. Perry, Chick-fil-A’s Vice President of Corporate Public Relations, died of a heart attack Friday morning, according to WRBL News 3 in Columbus, Georgia.

News of his death comes as the company is dealing with heavy fallout from comments made by CEO Dan Cathy about his support for traditional marriage.

Following his passing, Chick-fil-A Inc. released the following statement:
We are saddened to report the news to you that our dear friend Don Perry, vice president of public relations, passed away suddenly this morning.
Don was a member of our Chick-fil-A family for nearly 29 years. For many of you in the media, he was the spokesperson for Chick-fil-A. He was a well-respected and well-liked media executive in the Atlanta and University of Georgia communities, and we will all miss him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
Perry was an active member of his faith community. As an elder of Hillcrest Church of Christ, he enjoyed “leading his church fellowship cell group, as well as working to help maintain harmony in the congregation,” according to the church’s online information.
“One of the challenges sometimes is helping to reconcile differing views among members,” Perry said, according to the church, “but we work to keep unity of the faith.”

Perry’s alma mater, the University of Georgia, describes him a hard-working faith-based man: “Perry grew up on a farm in Valdosta watching ‘Bewitched’ and knew that he wanted a job that required a briefcase … When he started working for the family-owned company 28 years ago, he was the PR staff.”
“I came on board in 1983 to literally start the public relations function here, because the company was young, growing and emerging,” he told Georgia Magazine.
“The company was trying to move beyond just a small, regional family chain to become a national brand,” he added.
Perry was instrumental in helping Chick-fil-A achieve that goal.
“We’ve seen Chick-fil-A certainly grow up and progress over the years,” he added.

You are a terrible person. A man died, and you need to use the occasion as an excuse to attack others; not even just attack, but blame them for his heart attack? Pray that he is at peace with the Lord and that his family can find some comfort; celebrate his life and mourn his passing.
I expect your kind of response out of a Democratic troll, not someone who is a conservative. Shame on you.

The power-mongers are busy creating a leash for them, yet they worry about gay people–very strange. But predictable coming from members of mass cults being ‘commanded’ by their assorted gods.
Conservatives suck, period.

Posted on July 27, 2012 at 4:24pmYou know, up until his boss recently said that he and his family supported Christian values, Chick-fil-a was just a restaurant and being the head of PR was probably a pretty good gig. But then, when people found out that it was owned by a family that publicly admitted to being, *gasp*, Christian, the company came under attack by those who are intolerant of Christians.
It is a difficult thing to be a member of a persecuted religion. While I want point blame to the left specifically, I will point to those who have declared war on Christians. This man’s heart may very well have been broken, literally, by watching his country come to this point.
Everyone should defend a Christian’s right as much as they would defend a Jew or a Muslim. Somehow, someone’s sexuality has become more important than their religion. I would think you would care more about someone’s beliefs and morality than where they rub their junk for pleasure.

You could make a case for the left having sped up his death. Myself I tend to go for the inflammation theory for the causation of atherosclerois. The inflammation is aggravated or brought on by chronic stress.
I have heard that this is a Rahm Emanuel hatchet job. Maybe it wasn’t him, but some other leftist. However it is awfully convenient for Obama to deflect attention away from the economy.
Having read that his statement was made at a faith based event, that he mentioned traditional family & no divorce, this whole thing was trumpeted by the left in the MSM.
He didn’t mention gays. He did say that being married to your 1st wife was a good thing. I have seen a lot of ******* & moaning by gay posters how people talk about marriage being one man & one woman but never about divorce or adultery. Well he talked about divorce (i.e. 1st wife).
Next someone will say this same thing privately to another congregant in the church that they attend & the whole leftist blogosphere will go even more nuts.
I don’t worry. We’ll follow in the footsteps in Europe. We won’t have gay rights; we will have Bacha bazi. But that probably suits most leftists. :)

“The statement Chick-Fil-A’s president made to the Baptist Press, the news agency of the Southern Baptist Convention, shows that he takes pride in the longevity of his marriage.
The Los Angeles Times quotes Cathy as saying,
“We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.””
http://www.examiner.com/article/research-on-gay-infidelity-influenced-chick-fil-a-s-anti-gay-marriage-stance
Mr.Cathy did not start a jihad against gays. They started one against Chick-Fil-A. Mr Cathy was talking to the Baptist Press. He said traditional marriage without infidelity or divorce. I think that significant proportions of the gay community have problems with “traditional marriage, fidelity & no divorce judging from their websites & their posts.
They have written things like husbands should have extramarital affairs with gay guys so they can learn to love their wives better. That is gay logic & morality for you. They are totally warped.

You prove my point, those people are just as horrible.
Though those people don’t claim to be Christians and follow a book that says stuff like
“Turn the other cheek.”
“Don’t repay evil with evil.”
I thought you Christians were supposed to be better people because of your belief in a higher power?
I thought your goal was to try to love like Jesus loved and forgive those who trespass you?
The only thing you prove by making the same type of comments is that you are no better then the people you claim to hate.
For how much you all hate me
For how many times I‘ve been called evil because I don’t think a God exists
I have NEVER cherished in the death of any of the people I disagree with. I always sympathize and hope for the best for the family members of the person who died.
Yet I constantly come on here and see “Christians” accuse liberals/atheist/homosexuals(any group that they disagree with) of carrying out attacks on well known conservative or Christian individuals. I see them relish in bad things happening to people they disagree with politically/spiritually.

Report Post »See that’s what happens when you try to think. You just come out looking more and more like an ill-informed, anti-Christian bigot.
Simply to take a stand on any biblical doctrine is seen to be provocative, aggressive, unloving and divisive. If that is the accepted presupposition, then yes, that is the end of all Christian debate. People simply begin to wonder whether they should even open their mouths for fear of being labelled harsh, unloving, judgmental, ungracious, and so on.
But to see how unhelpful and unbiblical this is, one simply needs to go back to the Bible. Take any of the great characters in the Bible, and you will find plenty of examples of what today would be considered to be quite harsh, unloving and intolerant speech.
The Bible is in fact full of these, and had these characters lived in today’s PC and TC climate, most of them would have been soundly rebuked for their lack of grace and love. Dozens of individuals come to mind here. Let me just mention a few.
Just how ungracious and unloving was Elijah? When he mocked, ridiculed and taunted the false prophets, he did not exactly seem to be a blazing example of tact and diplomacy. Indeed, he seemed to deliberately go out of his way to denigrate and deride these Baalists and their false gods.

Posted on July 28, 2012 at 9:33pmContd
Just how ungracious and unloving was Isaiah? He offers some of the most stinging denunciations of idols and idolatry in the entire Bible. He offers withering denunciations of idolatry, and is not afraid to use the strongest of language to do so. Simply reading the book of Isaiah out loud today would be regarded by many as quite an un-Christlike activity.
Just how ungracious and unloving was John the Baptist? Even Jesus had to defend him: “he came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon’.” Indeed, the prophets in both Testaments were accused of all sorts of things, and rejected by the masses.
Just how ungracious and unloving was Jesus? Think of all kinds of rather nasty things he was happy to say. Calling people “white-washed tombs,” “blind fools,” “hypocrites” and the like does not seem to be the epitome of love and charm. Publicly rebuking Peter and saying “Get behind me, Satan!” is not exactly how you win friends and influence people.
Just how ungracious and unloving was Paul? Referring to his opponents as dogs and the like would make him very unpopular in many Christian circles today. And poor Peter, he too was publicly rebuked by Paul as well. ‘Oh, but we are not to air our dirty laundry in public’ we are told today. And just what was he thinking when he absolutely blasted the Galatians? Where is the love Paul? Where is the grace?
The truth is, provocative language is found throughout the Bible. You

“Please try to act like Christ, instead of acting like a typical Christian.”
I’m not sure what you mean by “acting like a typical Christian,” but I assume that in your mind it is primarily things negative, i.e., that Christians are not supposed to show anger, defend their faith when they feel attacked, witness to others, etc.
Don’t forget that Christ, Himself, ran the “moneychangers” out of the Temple, and on another occasion, He cursed the fig tree. This also shows how God in the flesh (Christ) really did experience all the emotional and physical pain, temptation, etc. that all of us do when He lived among us on earth. This allows us to better comprehend that He understands our weaknesses and will forgive us for our sins when we seek His forgiveness.
One final thought. I certainly don’t claim, nor do I think any other Christian on this site would claim, that we have all the answers or have perfect understanding. You and many of your non-believing colleagues are not without any intellect. Your points have been argued throughout mankind. It is not a matter of intelligence or lack thereof that you have simply turned away or have refused to accept.
The core messages of Christianity are simple but understanding God completely is an impossible task for any human mind. Our minds are incapable of fully comprehending God and all His work. That is why we have “faith” and trust in God based on what we CAN understand.

One might argue that Jesus doesn’t relate to us at all.
Sure you might say that Jesus got hungry and thirsty etc.
But since you believe that Jesus was God, and it is impossible for God to sin, that it would therefore be IMPOSSIBLE for Jesus to actually commit a sin.
Temptation is irrelevant if you’re immune to temptation. It would be like waving a doughnut in front of someone who couldn’t see or smell and say, “wow, they resisted the temptation to eat this delicious doughnut!” when in reality, they had no way of knowing the doughnut was actually there.
Therefore, any perceived temptation to sin you say Jesus encountered is irrelevant because it was morally impossible for Jesus(as God) to sin.
Whereas Christianity says I was born a sinner.
Therefore, I can’t relate to Jesus at all(beyond more then a physical response to hunger or thirst) because
I am born a sinner.
It is impossible for him to sin.
Jesus didn’t show me a way to live
He showed me a way that is impossible to live
He didn’t suffer as I have suffered because it is impossible for him to go to hell
I am born worthy of hell and need Jesus to be saved.
Granted, these are all assumptions being made and haven’t been shown at all to actually be true.

You lefties hate the constitution don’t you? This isn’t about religion..no..that’s just the avenue of attack you choose. No..the constitution is what you lefty filth hate so much. The constitution prevents you lefty filth from usurping power for yourselves, from silencing dissent, from targeting perceived enemies.

They call us racist (Who are the racists? Those who use skin color to promote their movement)
They call us bigots (Who’s the bigot? Those who are not tolerant of other peoples’ opinion)
They say we cram God down their throats (I say they’re cramming homosexuality down our …. *ehem…)
It appears to me, that the only bigots here, are those who are intolerant of other peoples’ personal opinions.
Please show me an example where homosexuals have been refused the ability to be homosexual, in comparison to others that are allowed to engage in heterosexuality (meaning, are they restricted from engaging in homosexual sex as heterosexuals engage in heterosexual sex?)

I’ve been reading you posts for quite some time and by my observations you vehemently attack anybody that expresses any religious thoughts. Even those that have nothing to with gays. Report Post »So far WinShape is showing at least no overt anti-gay activities, Okay, associated organization Family Research Council mentions that does advocate against LGBT special rights and is apparently against the gay rights agenda, but is rather vague. Exodus International does seek to assist those who claim to have become formerly gay. Okay, some of the remainder on that front page are counter to the gay agenda. They do promote traditional family values. Do you actually have anything against those who cherish traditional family values? Anyway, you were right. They do have some organizations that do not support gays.
What I personally don’t get is the fact that you have near violent outbursts when anything religious is brought up here. Did one of these rogue Catholic priests recruit you to the dark side? If not, how did it actually happen? I’m serious and not joking around.
Well, I should explain myself then. I also support traditional family values. But, I do not hate anybody. If you or anybody else considers yourself gay, then there is nothing that I could ever do about it. So be it.

@RJJinGadsden the fact that the CEO actively donates money to organizations that seek to deny basic rights to fellow Americans is the issue. The fact that they step on the Constitution and the Establishment Clause, using bronze age myths to justify this denial of rights is the problem. Keep your myths behind the Church doors, it has no place in government or in the court room.
***
From our view point the CEO of Amazon donates money to groups that want to undermine America.
Mr Cathy was talking to a church newspaper, the Baptist Press. So that was behind church doors.
You guys have gotten so rabid that I will now boycott all gay businesses. I would rather go buy food from a grocery store than go to a gay owned restaurant. That is how bad is has become. You started it, we’ll finish it. Let the boycotts begin.

Yes, they will not sponsor them and they disagree with their sin, but Chick still sells to them. Satan is brutal. Satans people are vile, evil, and wicked. Posted on July 27, 2012 at 10:30pmAre you for real? Fast Food Corporations that serve a high calorie, high fat, high salt, and high sugar products are partly responsible for the high rate of obesity, heart disease, and cancer in America. CFA decided to donate a potion of it’s profits, based on it’s religious beliefs to fight the Gay Marriage Amendment. They made a miscalculated stand without considering the fallout from gay employees and their friends and families, gay customers and their friends and families, gay suppliers and their friends and families not to mention all the sinners, fakers, cheaters, un-wed mothers, agnostics, and atheists. It is God’s will that all of our time on earth is limited. Our bodies are born and die, but our soul goes on. God also has a purpose for every soul on earth, whether we ever realize it or not. You see, our own will between birth and death sometimes gets in the way of achieving that purpose. I have a hunch God can accept us failing to realize our purpose better than outright rejection. I am hopeful you and your like-minded fellows will reconsider your position with God before your human body expires.
