What began as peaceful protests 9 months ago has become an increasing violent uprising against Syria’s authoritarian President Bashar Assad. AP reports the latest violence Saturday, where Syrian forces fired on funeral processions and clashed with army defectors killing at least 12 people leading France to call on the international community to “save the Syrian people.”
Despite the relentless bloodshed, Assad has refused to step down and has shown no signs of easing his crackdown. The United Nations estimates more than 4,000 people have been killed in the military assault on dissent since March.
Syria has banned most foreign journalists and prevented local reporters from moving freely, all the while denying the violence going on within its own borders against protesters. AP notes that accounts from activists and witnesses, along with amateur videos posted online, provide key channels of information.
CNN’s Anderson Cooper reports on the sickening news of children caught in the middle of, and killed in the conflict, as well as the assault on a funeral procession. WARNING: this video features graphic images:

Posted on December 12, 2011 at 1:29pmGosh, I hear all of these “Christians” dismissing these killings of children because they are Muslims! How evil. I have very decent Muslim friends. They do not even interpret the Koran the way the Westerners do and they are just as terrified of radical Islam as anyone else. The govt conditioned us hate the Japs and the Russians at one point, too, remember? God does not condone killing of innocents. Your twisted “Christian” logic is evil and you sound like a bunch of ignorant barbarians ranting about killing all of the Muslims.

Posted on December 11, 2011 at 12:38pmThe UN most likely will do nothing unlike with Libya. The difference? Libya has oil (lots of it), Syria not so much (production diminishing). But when (not if) Syria falls, the UN will be Johnny-on-the-spot to ensure that the strongest anti-Israel faction takes control.

Posted on December 11, 2011 at 11:51amWe are helping turn dictatorships into Muslim extremist countries faster than I can keep up with. Are these dictators bad, yes, but the results will be even worse when thousands are killed in reprisals. People are going to die ether way.

Posted on December 11, 2011 at 6:30amWhy use The Children for Hate conversation and stirring up more deaths? The conversation is Humanity vs Inhumanity. A child’s life is important; however, mothers and fathers of these children are important too.
Report Post »War will never end with this type of loaded propaganda. Nancy P. and the Dems have overloaded on using the Children to promote more violence! You, an uninvited, busybody need to Stop trying to over throw a nation! Let the citizens of that Nation decide their fate! Solutions come in more ideas than violence, hate, and war!

Posted on December 10, 2011 at 11:00pmThis is why we need to quit getting involved in every country in the world…And you wonder why these countries produce “terrorists” that want to attack the U.S? Use what little brain you have nazicons.

Posted on December 10, 2011 at 10:22pmConsidering what is happening in other mis-east countries, I think at this point I’m rooting for the dictator-and that’s sad, but we don’t need another muslim brotherhood country takeover. These people are really stupid if they can’t see what has happened elsewhere, unless the men want another sharia law country.

THOUSANDS who did NOT heed warnings. THOUSANDS who did not prepare. THOUSANDS who were completely helpless within two days.?????
In a way, Obama’s disdain is correct.

Posted on December 10, 2011 at 11:17pmSorry to burst your bubble SICBOY, but you started this little discussion with your first smart@ss remark, so I guess that confirms that you are indeed the troll. As for my military service, it’s something I am quite proud of, and all your little troll remarks can’t change that fact. If you are a Marine, why don’t you get some respect, stop attempting to insult another veteran, and stop disrespecting your own service.

Posted on December 11, 2011 at 12:13amLook, a very small percentage of *any* group of people (no matter what race, religion or what have you) are craven despicable human beings.
The greatest majority of *any* group of people (no matter what race, religion or what have you) are decent people as a rule.
For you to lump Muslims as being “pretty much filthy animals” is a very loud and clear statement about completely irrational prejudices. In fact, with your viewpoint, frankly I am appalled that you actually served in our military at all, as it was obviously a grave error on our military’s part.
