Chris Christie Blasts ‘Crazies’ After Appointing Muslim Judge: The ‘Sharia Law Business Is Just Crap’

I guess you can call Chis Christie the antithesis of Herman Cain.

The New Jersey governor appointed a Muslim judge this year, something Cain said he would never do (and then backtracked), and during a press conference yesterday answered questions about it. Or more appropriately put, he delivered a trademarked, passionate tongue-lashing of those who questioned his decision.

Mediaite has some of Christie’s most colorful quotes (which I’ve bolded):

“Ignorance is behind the criticism of Sohail Mohammed,” he told a reporter asking about the complaints that he may be inadequate to be a judge because he defended Muslim Americans who were wrongly arrested post-9/11. “He is an extraordinary American who is an outstanding lawyer and played an integral role in the post-September 11th period in building bridges between the Muslim American community in this state and law enforcement,” Gov. Christie argued, adding that he was “disgusted, candidly, by some of the questions he was asked… at the Senate judiciary committee.”

But it was a follow-up question on the fear of Sharia Law that set the governor off. “Sharia Law has nothing to do with this at all, it’s crazy!” he cried. “The guy is an American citizen!” He concluded that the “Sharia Law business is just crap… and I’m tried of dealing with the crazies,” adding with disgust and frustration that “it’s just unnecessary to be accusing this guy of things just because of his religious background.”

Watch it unfold below:

Mohammed is an Indian-American who was appointed as a Superior Court judge back in January. He has just now been sworn in.

I wonder what Herman Cain will say.

Christie’s making a huge mistake here, I hope he‘s looked into the background of this guy extensively to make sure he isn’t Sharia compliant or any other anti-american issues. If he is then Christie dropped the ball. There is no good muslim, unless they come out and condem the rest of their religion, until then I will be skeptical and everybody else should be too.

As fanatically obssessed with Muslim law as Muslims are, to accuse someone of being crazy for having legitimate qualms about this man’s appointment is in itself pure madness.

Strange isn’t it that John Ashcroft had to get up in Congress, hold up his right hand and swear he wouldn’t allow his Christian beliefs to interfere with his decisions, although no Christians were ever involved in jihad, yet bringing up valid complaints against a religion that is involved in numerous killings every year should go unchallenged?

I’m going to bet right now that this man will be rendering decisions as kooky as a Clinton or Carter appointee…..and just as biased in favor of Islamic law.

Christie just knocked himself out of contention for president.

@Bluefish49 – Are you out of your mind??? Classwarfare reminds me of a toothache I once had. Liberal people like him is proof that evolution can go in reverse. I would expect to see a tail protruding from the backside of this bananagargler .

What people fail to realize is that there are repercussions and effects for people’s beliefs. They certainly do have the “right” to believe anything they want, but that doesn’t mean we should embrace them. I could never have a liberal “friend”. It’s a matter of respect, in that I could NEVER respect them for having such donkeystumped, hairbrained idealogies. I mean, they could possibly be very nice…It could happen…but why take the chance of them biting your head off. Sharks are probably very nice fishies, but I wouldn’t want to pet one.

Every person’s central choices in life are driven by their worldview, and everyone’s worldview is greatly influenced by their spiritual inclinations. The social and political preferences of people are closely tied to their spiritual beliefs and practices. Which seems to explain the great disparity in policy stances between conservatives and liberals on issues of morality related to for example evolution, marriage and sanctity of life.

This judge may very well be an average Mo, and be like some “christians” (small c) and not really accept the tenants of his religion, in which case he would be safe. However if he’s a real Muslim, hes dangerous and has no business as

My respect for Christie just went way up. And then, on the other hand, you have Herman Cain who had to recant and say he would not violate the spirit and letter of the Constitution by imposing a religious test on members of his cabinet. Glad he cleared that up by stating that he only meant he wouldn’t appoint a known terrorist to his cabinet. I strongly support not appointing suicide bombers to government posts.

      NES,
You are mistaken, friend. Islam is more than a religion. It was meant, from the beginning, to be a religious AND political force, and the goal has always been and will always be for Islam to rule the world, and Sharia to be the law of all lands. It was not high-jacked by extremists. The jihadists are the ones practicing true Islam. The so-callled moderates are not.

You mean like Christianity, Christ’s commandment to His apostles to preach to the gentiles, and that pesky Paul guy? A religion seeking to spead is hardly novel.

The Qur’an calls Jews and Christians “People of the Book,” referring to the Bible, and says to tax them at a higher rate than Muslims as an incentive to convert. The infidels, or unbelievers, were pagans, just like the ones in the Old Testament that God commanded the Israelites to wipe out based on infidelity to God and their abominable practices, among others, of ritual prostitution and infanticide. Modern use of branding Jews and Christians with the word infidel is an invention of the Islamofascist cults. They even use it against each other between the sects.

Get it right!

I do not know who this judge is, but is it possible for an American muslim to know American law? If he follows American law better than “homegrown” judges (I’m thinking the idiots in certain, unnamed states) then who cares what his religeon is? As long as there is no Sharia law attempted? The next question is, if he does, how does one get him off the bench after Mr Christie leaves?

Excellent reply, this particular issue needs much more thought and consideration. As radical and un-American as many of the passages of the Koran are additional examination of this potential jihadist is mandatory. I am in total shock over the action by a sober Conservative such as Christie. Until further examination of this particular issue and Gov. Stop wasting your typing. Poor MACPAPPY and RACHAL44 have never read the Bible, much less the Quran. They are not aware of the fact that Islam did not invent things like stoning, slavery and arranged marriage. Those things were part of the culture before Judaism and are throughout the Old Testament. The majority of Christians and Jews follow a post-reformation era interpretation of their religions that recognizes the simple fact that cultural references in their respective religious texts should be judged in the context of the culture of the time but the principles they represent are timeless. A similar reformed view of the Quran is still a small minority of Muslims worldwide but it should be encouraged. It makes some sense to be more guarded in acceptance of Muslims as reformed until you know more about them, but those who fully embrace our principles of religious tolerance are the front line against the radicals.

In general I do not trust a muslim as a judge. By the Lord God, I am not suppose to trust everyone, including those devoted to idols.

I know of the negative connotation of bigot, but it is a word that is used to describe someone who states a dislike or distrust of another. The problem is that those who use the word bigot imply that you have to like and trust every one, while they themselves may be bigoted for using the word bigot.

From what I know, the english use of the word bigot dates back to about 1598. But was used in the middle ages by the French. The exact origin of the word is unknown, but may have been German from the words bei and Gott or “by God”. It seems that the original negative use of the word bigot or “by God” was used by the French against the Christian Normans who did not want to totally submit to the French and their King. So the Christian Normans who wanted to do that which is right “by God”, were derogatorily called “bigots” by the more secular/worldly French.

      @Loriann

Islam is not a political ideology. It is the religion that Muslims follow. It can and has been turned into a political ideology called Islamism by extremists, and most, but not all, Muslims are sympathetic in varying degrees with extremists because they are brainwashed from birth into hating Israel and America as the root cause of their miserable lives rather than their own governments. Most of the criticism against Islam can be applied to Christianity based on, for example, what was done by the Holy Roman Empire, and atheists make similar arguments based on this to say that the Christian religion is the root cause of evils committed by the Catholics during the Dark Ages. Evil men, inspired by the devil, will use any means possible to control and rule over others, including and especially religion. The same applies to Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, etc. Since I am a Christian, I try to follow Christ’s admonition to love and pray for my enemies. Thus, I pray that the majority of Muslims will become more like the few whom I know that love America and reject extremism. The Bible says that Israel will reconcile with the strangers in the land (Palestinians) and with Syria, so I believe all of the Children of Abraham will live in peace one day, however impossible that seems now.

The bearing false witness was not directed at any individual, it meant that the Bible calls lying bearing false witness. I‘m sure she really believes what she’s saying. But when you can point out in the Bible that we’re supposed to lie to Muslims, I’ll stop the debate. I already pointed out the versus in the Quran where it says to lie to infidels. Even the Ft. @MacDaddy

Please define Sharia Law since it is practiced differently by different Muslims and different Islamic countries. Sharia in Saudi Arabia is not the same as Sharia in Malaysia.

American Muslims practicing Sharia Law in their personal religious lives is fine so long as that version of Sharia does not violate US laws and is not made equivalent or superceding to US laws in civil matters. This is the same as it is for other Christian faiths that have church laws, courts, and councils.

BRY, the problem with Islam is that it is not just another religion. It is an alien way of life that is dictated by the Koran and is totally incompatible with our way of life and our Constitution. That means it is impossible for a true believer Muslim to be a patriotic American who will uphold fundamental American laws and values. We need leaders who listened to God – not leaders who listen to and follow religious leaders. Muslim religion, like many religions, does not reflect this Country’s founding values of independent thought, reason, self-reliance.

      @ NES,

Your comment about the lack of uniformity of the understanding of the application of Sharia Law across the Muslim world IS NOT a source of comfort as you seem to imply. Islam is not a live and let live ideology. It is a superiorists ideology that DEMANDS that all other ways of thinking and understanding our human existence are to submit to and finally be replaced by Islam….. by whatever means -no matter how deceptive or violent- which are justified by “divine” ends.

The areas where we find AGREEMENT among the Muslims lie in the treatment of THIEVES and of the STATUS OF WOMEN, and in the teatment of Muslims who convert away from Islam.

If you are caught stealing, the judgment is to cut off the hand.

If you are a woman, your testimony counts for less than a man’s in a Sharia court. So if you are raped, then Sharia protects the rapists by obliging the woman to produce FOUR male eyewitnesses to the crime.

And Heaven help you if you become an ‘Apostate” to Islam. The universal judgment is death.

That all is the GOOD part of Sharia, because it is consistent.

Now for the BAD part. Where there is no specific rule, a judge can use his own view of you and your situation to render a judgement. This is where a nation of laws vs. a nation of men part company. Our system is flawed, but it is usually flawed in favor of giving the benefit of doubt to the accused. NOT SO with Sharia. BEWARE of those who wish to blur this DISTINCTION!!!!

I posted this elsewhere but your quote is misleading. Our declaration of Independence states as one of the grievances: He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:

Sharia Law is not compatible in the least with original intent. There is no compromise between the two.

In 1786 Thomas Jefferson, then US ambassador to France, and John Adams, then US Ambassador to Britain, met in London with Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja, the Dey’s ambassador to Britain, in an attempt to negotiate a peace treaty based on Congress’ vote of funding. To the US Congress these two future Presidents later reported the reasons for the Muslims’ hostility towards America, a nation with which they had no previous contacts.

“…that it was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman (Muslim) who should be slain in Battle was sure to go to Paradise.”

But for a Muslim to keep his word to an Infidel at the expense of opportunities to expand Islamic power is the Islamic equivalent of a mortal sin. The oath a judge would take, if truly embracing the Muslim religion, mean nothing.

I could be wrong but I don’t think that Christie would have recourse once this judge has been appointed.

Christie is just like many Americans that believe that nothing serious could ever happen to the USA. I’m sure all the other countries that were overrun throughout history probably thought the same thing. We are being infiltrated in preparation to be defeated. This judge maybe the greatest American but given what’s happened and is happening, should we take the chance? Christie is just another disappointing politician. Imagine that!

Muslims are told to lie in the Qu’ran to infidels. When asked by the judge, one Muslim said he swore an oath to the United States, but lied. Only time will tell. If this Judge is against Sharia law, that’s a good thing, but I don‘t see how what the Qu’ran teaches can mesh with the constitution.

Mocnie, just saying but your attempt attempt at ridicule makes you look ignorant.

Any historian or bible scholar knows that the bible was written centuries before muslims existed. So there are no verses in the bible talking about ‘lieing to muslims’. So your inserted words make little sense. But maybe I was wrong, maybe someone in the bible had a sense of prophecy and speak of the future ‘muslims’. If so, the burden of proof rests on your shoulder to post the verse!

That being said, I wish this judge luck, and hope he sticks true to the constitutional law that he has sworn to uphold. But I dare him to attempt to make judgements based on sharia, because it would just be overturned by the appellate like the last time it happened in New Jersey.

      http://nation.foxnews.com/justice/2010/08/06/sharia-law-comes-new-jersey

Well, Mocne your premise that “lying” and “bible”, and ‘christian”/“jew” can easily switched into the same comment and set the same premise is flaud. As any historian and scholoar of the bible can easily point out. Even one of the ten commandments is ‘though shalt not lie or bear false witness”. So the premise of your new paraphrase doesn’t make much sense. I wouldn’t call it blasphemy, because I don’t think you blasphemed anything. You just showed your lack of knowledge of the sources.

That being said yes there are Christians that lie, but they are breaking there own ten commandments, that makes them hypocrites! Since the bible tells them not to lie or bare false witness!

But what you should have done was asked isn there anything in Islam that supports lying, as the first premise put forth? I‘m sure that islamic scholars and historians can support or refute that claim with verses out of the Qu’ran. Perhaps that’s what you should be asking?

Logic and research are the only ways to win debates! Ad homenym attacks and fallacious reasoning goes nowhere!

During the inquisition when someone was mailiciously and falsely accused of witchcraft and the church inquisitors were made aware of the fact that the accuser was acting out of malice towards a person, the response of the church inquisitors was”the malice of men is the wisdom of God”,thereby allowing false accusations to stand resulting in the torture and executions of people who they knew were victims of maligners [people lying out of malice]. Doesn’t get worse then that when it comes to a lying for God ethos!

Funny Rosy Ellen that you would bring that up. The inquisitors didn‘t follow the bible’s precepts that tell man not to lie to their fellow man, they followed there own human rules, outside of the bible. That makes them hypocrites, and I already mentioned lieing Christians are ‘hypocrites’. Because nothing they said had basis out of the bibile.

Infact ‘malice’ is more of the realm of man and ‘devils’! It‘s not anything having to do with ’God’

But I’m not catholic what would I know? Perhaps you feel the Catholic way is the right way? Are you a Jesuit?
