Chris Christie Stares Down Jimmy Fallon Over NJ Joke

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie did his best mobster impression during a “Late Night” with Jammy Fallon appearance on Tuesday. Fallon recently made a joke about Christie’s announcement to cancel a new tunnel between New York and New Jersey, and repeated it again last night. That prompted a death stare from Christie:

I like this guy! It would be great to have him run for Pres with either Marco Rubio or Allan West. That would be a powerful combination to beat and I really think those guys could do a lot to help this country survive. Right now we don’t look so good. It has to be turned around in 2012 or we are done as a nation. Crazy, but very possible.

OK, so I like Cristie s well, but where does he stand on Obamacare? Cap and Trade? He refused to make a statement or comment about the NY mosque…

I love how he has taken on the unions, how he is a no bull-sh##ter, straight talker etc. BUT, I do have some questions.

      i have those same concerns.
      cap and trade? no dice
if he ever decided to run, and i hope he is considering it, he must come clean on that first.
watch him and see if he tries to start to explain his position on his own without someone prodding him. if he does that, he is considering running. if he stays quite? he not giving it another thought.

oh yeah, and Obama was proven. All those years of Communtiy Organizing and service to the Unions.
We need to get over this ‘requirement’ mentality. Please review the requirements for President. I am fairly certain it includes only three things. Age (35), Citizenship (Naturally Born), and no less than 14years (maybe 15) in country.
There is zero reference to ‘Ivy-league schools’ or prior service as a Governor -though the latter would be very useful. Too bad it doesn’t require belief in God, though almost all state Constitutions do require that.

It wasn’t exactly an endorsement of Palin. Is he a Romney man too? But even Romney sticks up for Palin.
      Why can’t Republicans stick together.
He could have said “Palin is better than than Obama, or she has more executive experience than Obama”.
Christy could have said something to make Obama look bad not a fellow Republican.
When Jeb Bush was asked he said “You betcha”.
Huckabee has defended her, Pence defends her.

He should have been vociferous in her defense. He wasn’t. Coyly the opposite. As governor she took on big oil and big republican and WON. He is taking on the unions – especially the TEACHER’S unions. I hope he wins. If he does it will be HUGE.

I love Christie, but I like Palin more. When you consider the incredible GARBAGE that she has had thrown at her and her CHILDREN, and the fact that she has handled it with aplomb shows me that she could easily squash Chavez, Ahmedinejad, and Soetero like the weevils they are.

Don’t be psylli, psytoxic. She deserves to be defended not because she is a Republican, but because every single attack against her has been without basis; trumped up Democrat/Republican “ruling class” viciousness disguised as reasonable criticism and happily parroted by the media at the same time they further distort her record. Her critics are despicable and worthy of multiple gob-smackings.

Why does he have to defend anyone? I have mixed feelings on Palin, her record as Gov wasn’t stellar. While she did take on corruption, she did little to cut back spending, taxes and regulation (all of which is critical for bringing back our economy), all of which CC is focused on. I see her as another cult of personality, which scares me. I do like the fact that she drives the establishment bonkers!

Agreed that CC is an establishment repub, but he is doing what he says he is going to do, despite thrashing he is receiving in the media. There are several “anti-CC” twitter accounts (BurgerGov for instance) rife with personal attacks. I’d rather go with someone who walks the walk, sticks to their priciples instead of caving when faced with fierce resistence (shades of Terminator here). I see quite a few elements of Reagan in CC.

I know Glenn says he won’t run, he says he is un electable, though i believe the American people would love to see a person who has some problems in the past stand in front of the American people and vet them self personally, then tell the American people lets fix this broken Government. your average American citizen would embrace a candidate that by passes the media and puts it all on the table and then run as a candidate of integrity and honer, Just tell us the truth for once. we can‘t change if we don’t have the willingness. as Glenn said, we must have acceptance, once we have acceptance, then come the willingness no matter how tough it gets. we must walk through this.

What would a Government look like with these individuals, not necessarily in this order.
Beck, Thume, Christie, Palin, Perry, etc.
Bring our troops home, take care of our own, become the super power we once where, build the America we all know and love.

We should make Christie dictator of the Federal government and every state government for a couple months. Give him the power to slash budgets and eliminate departments and restructure things. I’d actually trust him with all that power; he’d put the power back once he had done the right things. Few people can be trusted with vast power; Christie could be.

As much as I like Christie, I will trust no man with dictatorial powers. We got lucky with General Washington. He could have been trusted, but we only know that because he turned it down. Absolute power corrupts. Furthermore, if a man turnsd it down, these days, one cannot be sure that isn’t simply a machiavellian ploy to solidy trust prior to assumption of said powers.
I am not condemning Gov. Christie’s character in any way, merely stating that in this day and age.. we must be careful not to ask someone to ‘save us.’ Only one can save us, and he isn’t mortal. We must do this ourselves. It will take longer and be much harder, but the future of our Republic should -MUST NOT- not be gambled on the trustworthiness of one human being.
