Chris Christie Won’t Quite Rule Out VP Nomination

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie didn’t quite shut the door on running as the GOP vice presidential nominee in 2012, saying it would be “presumptuous” to do so when the job hasn’t even been offered.
In an interview with Fox News that aired Thursday, Christie said the possibility of the vice presidential slot has “never come up” in his discussions with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, whom he endorsed in October.
But Christie said if Romney were to offer him the job, the two would have “a full, complete conversation about it.”
“Running for president, that‘s my decision and Mary Pat’s decision alone. We decide that,” Christie said. “Vice president is the decision of only one person — whoever the nominee of your party is. I think it‘s awful to say something when it hasn’t been offered. The fact is if Gov. Romney comes to me and wants to talk to me about that, we’ll have a full, complete conversation about it and then Mary Pat and I will make that decision about what we want to do with our future.”
Christie has shot down vice presidential speculation before, telling NBC in June, “Seriously, forget it,” and later declaring, “I’m not looking for that job” when announcing he wouldn’t be seeking the presidency himself.
“I don’t think he [Mitt Romney] wants to be presumptuous enough to start talking to somebody about vice presidency when he’s not yet the nominee,” Christie told Fox. “There will be plenty of time for that once he sews up the nomination,” he said, adding that he hopes Romney will talk to a broad range of people to find the perfect running mate if he does secure the GOP nomination.
Christie said he and Romney have “a very candid relationship with each other.”
“He calls and we talk all the time about what’s going on in the campaign and he asks for my thoughts and I give them to him,” Christie said.
He offered a prediction for where things will stand in a year: “I think if you fast-forward the tape to a year from now, I think it’s going to be President-elect Romney and some other vice president-elect and Chris Christie, the governor of New Jersey.”

Posted on December 23, 2011 at 12:29amChristie would be a good fit but not this year. Romney needs a very conservative running mate, either minority or woman… from a political point of view. It will be hard to get two white men passed again.
Romney would be a great President, even on the social issues. He is strong on the social issues.
There is a new youtube that just came out showing that Romney is a Consistent Conservative, especially after his conversion from allowing abortions to be ‘safe and legal’. If you think Romney is a flip-flopper, you have to see the whole story, at least on abortion, here is the YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5tMKWsYWmI&feature=colike

Posted on December 22, 2011 at 9:02pmI live in Jersey. There are less people in State government now than since Whitman was Gov. and that’s with a Dem legislature. If he had the legislature half of these leeches in State Government would be history. Christie is a proven government benefits cutter…period! WHAT? What do you people want…? Posted on December 22, 2011 at 8:46pmAnother establishment Republican who knows how the game is played. Just like Allen West, Christie was too dedicated to his constituents to run for president but dangle a VP in front of them and it‘s ’well screw those constituents’. They knew it was not their TURN so they declined the top slot. Romney knows it’s his turn since he bowed out against McCain in the last presidential election. McCain you might remember bowed out against running against George W. because it wasn’t his turn yet. Just like Boehner’s capitulation, they’re so predictable!

Posted on December 23, 2011 at 7:03amRomney “bowed out” after he got too far behind to win the nomination! That’s why it is stupid for anyone to even consider him to be able beat Obama! Romney bowed out like Denver did against the Patriots a couple weeks ago! I don’t want Obama but it looks like the meatheads are gonna give him the election again!
Report Post »GilbertAcct
Posted on December 23, 2011 at 1:12pmGaryM… You are for Gingrich, who is 100x worse than Romney. If Gingrich gets the nomination there is no way he can beat Obama. If he doesn’t get the nod maybe Obama will pick him to replace Biden.
