Chris Matthews Compares Sarah Palin to Bill Clinton

Sarah Palin couldn’t have been compared to two more opposite political figures on Sunday. While John McCain gave her the coveted “Ronald Reagan” tag, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews said she reminded him of former President Bill Clinton.

First Matthews, who used the Clinton comparison in an attempt to compliment Palin:

Before we break, there’s one unlikely Democrat you might compare to Sarah Palin when it comes to being a natural: the generally incomparable Bill Clinton. One clear similarity: moxie. While some mortals might have gone away after that humiliating pounding that Sarah Palin took in 2008, she’s been something of a comeback kid herself. Clinton would never call the media “lame steam,” but he has had some equally unflattering things to say about the insiders who issued those premature accounts of his demise. During this last campaign, it was Bill Clinton who was the Democrats’ counter to Sarah Palin. She was using the campaign for her own future of course. So what was Bill Clinton’s angle? He wasn’t shy about suggesting the Democrats ought to be missing him.

The irony of the flattery isn’t lost to Noel Sheppard at NewsBusters, who wonders if the left’s Palin fascination could be because it thinks “she in their view would be the easiest to beat.”

“Are Obama-loving press members trying to orchestrate an outcome by giving an abundance of attention to the person they hope Obama will face in November 2012?” he asks.

If that’s true, the left will have a hard time succeeding should the right convince independents that Palin is actually just like another former President: Ronald Reagan. That‘s exactly what Palin’s former running mate John McCain tried to do yesterday on CNN’s “State of the Union.” When asked if he thought Palin was divisive, McCain responded:

“A guy named Ronald Reagan used to be viewed as divisive. She’s doing a great job. I think she’s motivated our base. She had a positive impact on the last election, and I’m proud of her.”

The more I read about Ms. Palin running in 2012 the more it seems that the main thing Conservatives have against her is that they fear she cannot win because of unfair media pressure from the other side. To me, that looks like letting the other side pick your candidate. I say, if she really believes in the same things we do and it sure seems she does, then give it a go. Let us have less decisions based on politics and more courage in our convictions!! Also, Tell me again how much international experience Obama, Clinton and Carter had before being elected!! And remember, we are looking for a chief “executive” NOT a dictator!!

I am in total agreement. I only supported McCain because of Palin. I share the concerns you raise about the media venom directed toward Sarah. As you know most voters tune into politics around October and most still form their opinions based on news coverage from the networks or the newspapers. As a result they will have a distorted view of Palin. It is really to bad there are no real debates where the candidates without “moderators” controlling the questions could explain and truly communicate with the public. Rather we get 2 minute talking points and 10 second sound bites.
My guess now is that the establishment democrat party will draft Hillary and the establishment repubs will nominate Romney. Both candidates are progressives and both will be touted as the “professional” candidates that should have been running in 2008.
Believe me I would love a President Palin but President Rubio doesn’t sound bad either.

The best thing for Sarah and also for the Republican party is for her to take Michael Steele’s soon to be vacated spot. That is where she can be the most help to conservatives and do the most damage to liberals. I love Sarah, but she still isn’t ready to run for POTUS…although she could do a better job than any current Democrat. Soon the fraud will begin as all the 2008-ACORN-like crazies will be coming out of the wood work and we will need pure strength to shut them down before they really get started. The conservatives have so many viable candidates for POTUS that the choice should be a fairly easy job. Just list them all and you’ll see.

Don’t we hve a prez now who is totally not qualified? He had no experience, still doesn’t.
But with lies and his charisma, he was elected.
Palin has experience, and what she doesn’t know, foreign policy, we have advisors, staff, and cabinet members. Same as Obamacakes has. Except Palins would be qualified people.
Dems want Palin to run because they honestly believe, Obama would defeat her. But who becomes prez is still up to us. I want a prez that loves my country as much as I do. I want a prez who has balanced a check book [using their own money, no mine] I want a prez with NO secrets about who they are. Palin is an open book. We still don’t know who Obama is.
Christy wont run. Romney is almost a Dem. Gingrich had his time and is too mushy with dems. Paul will never be elected. Jindal, I believe is not qualified via constitutional qualifications [birth] could be wrong here, but …..if he is qualified, then he should be VP with Palin.
With Palin, she needs us joined as a country helping not arguing between ourselfs.
Now let me tell you what could happen….
Palin runs, Dems are so happy because they think it is an easy win for them. But all of a sudden, they see Palin running away with the country. Will even be dems on her side. So what does Obama do? Easy…he calls the one person who can help him win…Hillary Clinton as his VP. Then the race comes down to Palin VS Clinton. Clinton stills has a base of very pissed off women on her side.
Also may be that many voters will not even vote, thinking they already know who will win. The Repubs conservatives and independants will have to be united.
My vote goes to the only one who I see with honor, honesty, love of country, love of people, integrity.
    Sarah Palin.

She got rid of the crooks in Alaska, She sold off the Governers Aircraft and she had a rating at over 80 percent. What in the world is the matter with you. Obama told innumerable lies to get elected and even then needed over 95 percent of the black vote to do it. He spends amost $100,000 per hour to fly the 947 all over the world all to often. His ratings are half of what Palin’s were in Alaska.
Obama has surrounded himself with a lot of people who do not have the best interests of the American people at heart. Palin would surround herself with experts in all fields and draw on their expertise when necessary and make sound decisions based on what she believes to be in the best interests of ALL Americans versus Obama who protects unions who are a huge drain on the economy.

I can’t believe it, Chris Matthews actually makes sense. Yes she comes across as an exceptional politican, similar to slick willie, except that she is most definately in the Regan mold. The problem is that Regan couldn’t achieve a lot of what he wanted to do. Neither will the conservatives without a super majority, and serious fear of the voters.
Christie seems to be attempting to do what he was elected to do. Without the states other representatives onboard how far he will get is still unknown, be he is trying.
They might make a good team, but only with a serious dedicated super majority in congress. Of course we must get there first. I am certain the Marxists have other plans.

So I think it is a stretch to think the press is somehow trying to get her to run against Obama – I think it is the opposite. You can argue there is nothing to fear, that she is not a viable candidate – all the noise you usually hear from those not fond of Palin but the media obviously wants to bring her down.

I have been following her reality show since the first week, watching each time with my wife. Christie has already said many times that he’s not intrested in POTUS right now, but maybe he could be convinced to be Sarah’s VP. A ticket like that would be a landslide for our side. Just food for thought.
