Chris Matthews: If I Were Voting in NH, ‘I’d Vote for Huntsman’

On Tuesday’s “Morning Joe,” MSNBC host Chris Matthews admitted who he would vote for if he were participating in the NH GOP primary. It’s not Mitt Romney or Rick Santorum, it’s former Ambassador Jon Huntsman. The statement may be shocking to some. But maybe not for the reason you think.
Here’s the transcript and video via Newsbusters:
If this state picks Huntsman tonight in second place, strong second place, which is really first place because he’s beating a regional guy, it will be a statement of New Hampshire is still alive. If I were voting here I’d vote for Huntsman because he’s American. He’s a kind of a guy who says, “I’m an American dammit, I’m not one of these stupid ideologues. And I really think, and I’m not a phony.” He is what he is.
Some might find it interesting that a news host would come out and admit who he would vote for, as it blurs the line of impartiality. But Newsbusters writer Noel Sheppard took a slightly different take. For him, the admission was more than just blurring impartiality, but it also showed that the liberal Matthews is trying to sway the election by endorsing who he (Sheppard) thinks is an unelectable candidate:
Yes, Jon Huntsman is what he is, and so is Chris Matthews: a liberal media member that is willing to do anything to get Barack Obama reelected including endorsing – on live television no less! – Republicans that have no chance of winning.
Alas, this is the state of journalism in America today.
Just imagine what these folks will do once an actual nominee has been chosen.
Heaven help us.
If Matthews was trying to prop up a long-shot candidate, the move would be bold considering where Huntsman stands in the polls. For example, in South Carolina, he’s losing to comedian Stephen Colbert.

Posted on January 10, 2012 at 2:58pmYup, Matthews said: “If I were voting here I’d vote for Huntsman because he’s American.” — what does that say about Der Obamasar? Matthews wouldn’t vote for him. And we all know that Huntsman really should be in the Democratic primary, anyway.

Posted on January 10, 2012 at 3:20pmWhat this says is Huntsman IS the closest to Obama of the GOP lineup. Didnt JH hike up taxes in Utah? An endorsement from Tingles is not a good thing and is not a detriment to Pharaoh Obama. If anything its propping up a weak candidate! Dont forget JH in a nutshell wants to BOW down to China just like our Pharaoh!
Fact of the matter is there is no rockstar candidate for the GOP. We are all being cheated by the choices. Just vote in the primaries for whomever is closest to your values and belifes BUT whomever gets the nomination must have all our support against the boy king. Surely we all can agree America cannot withstand another four years. As bad as the GOP lineup is none of them will do the kind of damage to this country as BHO has done.
We get him out tolerate whomever gets in while building up third party candidates from local to state level in coming midterm elections that by the time ‘16 election comes in thrid party will have a legit stand and threat to the establishment. Then we kick out whomever takes BHO out and put a real president into office. ‘12 election is going to force us all to make some tough decisions; put ego or nation first!
We won’t survive another 4 years of Obama esp with recent headlines like how journalists or anyone using social media is being watched. Look at the fascist state we are in you think it will die down under a 2nd BHO term?! No, it will go into overdrive!

Posted on January 10, 2012 at 5:51pmWhat baffles me the most about evangelicals not supporting Paul is that besides Perry (who will be out soon), Paul is the only Evangelical Christian in the race. There are two Mormons and two Catholics (and very slimy ones at that), and evangelical Christians are supporting them?!?!
I think it should be pointed out that Paul is the only evangelical in the running. Also, most Christians are not aware of the fact that Ron Paul will be, in his own words, the most pro-life President in history. It’s also important to point out that by cutting all foreign aid, Paul will be helping Israel, since we currently give more money to Israel’s enemies than we give to Israel.

Not exactly what you’d call an organized campaign, but then Huntsman does not have the infrastructure to continue a national campaign, indeed, Arizona now counts as the THIRD state where he is not even on the ballot. http://www.infowars.com/huntsman-is-unelectable-fails-to-make-the-ballot-in-three-states/

Lies.
From http://www.issues2000.org/Jon_Huntsman.htm
1) Absolutely opposed to gun control
2) Passed vouchers as governor in Utah
3) Supports tax reform (end most special cases, 8%/14%/24% tax brackets)
4) Supports term limits in Congress
5) Repeal Obamacare
6) Secure the borders
7) Halved his state sales tax, and reformed the tax code in Utah.

Huntsman and Paul are the only two sane candidates we have.
Ok, “sane” maybe isn’t the right word for Paul, but certainly for Huntsman.
I don’t know how we got to the point that serving our country as an ambassador to a foreign has become “OH MY GOSH HE’S THE DEVIL” instead of, “Wait, what? He’s educated enough to speak fluent Chinese? That’s great!”
You all are doing nothing to dispel the idiot-image of Republicans when you make great men like Huntsman look like traitors for serving overseas, and vote for morons like Bachmann, Perry, and Santorum.

He also is angry about Obama’s stupid rules of engagement which help to get OUR service men and women killed. He is also angry because Obama said and did NOTHING for the large amount of troops who returned home just before Christmas. Gov Perry said that if he were President there would have been a huge parade in their honor to thank them for their service to our country and to say welcome home. Posted on January 10, 2012 at 2:54pmNo, 13th Imam, I don’t believe any of that – I believe that the vast majority of Republicans are decent, honest, and in many admirable cases, god-fearing people, who just happen to have views that are extremely different from mine. I find some of the rabid behavior of the more extreme Republican candidates quite scary, as I do some of the more violent of their supporters, but then I feel the same about a lot of lefties, especially that mob of smelly f-star-star-k’ing losers just down the street from me. Yes, I believe that the environment should go above our concerns about fuel usage – maybe time will prove me wrong, and that‘s something that I’ll accept. Indeed, I believe that abortion up to a certain point is the right of women, but I think that it is something that is used far too frivolously. And yes, I think that taxation should come down much harder on the very rich, but not to the extent that my home country, the UK, had in the 1980s, with the super tax, and the current 50% levy on bankers’ bonuses. I try to keep it largely civil, and apologize if I ever seem to go off the deep end – I have some strongly held beliefs, but they are all my own, so don‘t think that I’m pulling this from some dumb left wing site. Many of you believe, as I do, in a God that offers little evidence – my beliefs may be wrong, I don’t know, but they are all my own, and come from my own personal convictions.
