Do Matthews and Krauthammer Agree on President‘s ’Political Address?’

Is the thrill no longer running up Chris Matthews’s leg?
The MSNBC anchor took time last night after the president‘s primetime address on the debt crisis to offer some criticism of Obama’s speech. According to Matthews, the president’s speech offered nothing new and was simply one side of a debate. That led the host to chide Obama, saying “the President should not have gone on national television to give a political address.”
Interesting, considering conservatives have long accused Obama of perpetually campaigning. In fact, Charles Krauthammer leveled that exact charge Monday night after the speech:
But before you think that Matthews has given up his liberalism, know that he still displayed some of his trademark snark when talking about the GOP’s response. For example, he made sure to mock John Boehner for allegedly looking off camera during his speech:
“It clearly wasn’t the normal sort of presentation where you look at the camera. And, by the way, I still don’t know why they keep imitating the President by putting a podium up, a lectern, acting like they’re addressing the nation like they’re the President. You’d be far better off doing what Nixon did years ago with the Checkers speech– just stand in front of a desk like an average person, lean against– put his butt against the front of the desk and talk like a regular person to other regular people. But they continue to try to pretend they’re some sort of counter bully pulpit, when they’re not that.”
In the end, Matthews was unhappy with both sides. “I think both sides blew it in terms of format tonight,” he concluded.

Posted on July 26, 2011 at 8:48amMost Americans, including myself, have felt nothing but excruciating pain running up our leg resulting from the bear trap socialist policies and corruption of this POTUS. Everything this guy has done has fostered more divisiveness that has imposed a state of constant and increasing crisis. The public’s growing dread and rage should be a major concern of any responsible POTUS but the evidence abounds that it is all part of his determination to “fundamentally change America”. You simply can’t do that without first destroying it and I pray enough middle-of-the-roaders wake up to this reality well before 2012.

I mean I was waiting for his nose to grow right there on national television. This gutless coward and ****** actually believes that normal America believes that garbage. LIES! All LIES! All Obama wants is a blank check to keep spending and “spreading the wealth” around. He wants to make America a world sociliast state with him as Dictator. Ha! Fat chance of that Obama. I almost feel sorry for him he is so pathetic. What a horrible upbrining he had to have having his minded poisoned at an early age by a succession of radical fill in Dads.
