Chrysler Suspends Workers Caught Boozing on Video

(AP) — Chrysler says it has suspended some plant workers caught by a Detroit television station drinking alcohol and smoking what appeared to be marijuana during breaks.

Chrysler manufacturing chief Scott Garberding told WJBK-TV in a report that aired Wednesday night that the automaker has identified some of the workers.

WJBK said it received a tip from a worker at Chrysler’s Jefferson North plant and followed about a dozen men for 10 days during their lunch breaks. It filmed them going to a convenience store to buy alcohol and taking it to a nearby park to drink and smoke.

Garberding says the workers’ “behavior is totally unacceptable.” The United Auto Workers said it strongly opposes the use of alcohol or controlled substances on the job.

I live here in Michigan and I have to say that I in no way support the unions. The unions are way out of touch of reality and are one of the reasons that our state is in the condition it is; terrible.

What great reporting. Now thats investigative reporting. The only people who like union workers, are union workers and their families. The rest of us have been hearing stories for years about how they slow down on Thursdays, in order to get overtime for the weekends. I know someone who talks and texts on the phone while making cars and they even set up a DVD to watch movies, all of this after their tax payer massages while at work

Everybody gets drug tested except union members. You can’t even drive a school bus or be a trash collector without clean pee, and these freakin‘ losers are boozin’ it up and catchin’ a buzz at lunch. Awesome!! At least we can put faces to those Democrat votes, now. And we don’t have to feel sorry for Detroit anymore. Chrysler and GM should have been liquidated by their bond holders, and Penske would have bought the facilities and kept making cars, except they’s actually be as good as Toyotas!

These auto companies are so scared of the unions that they can’t pull up their pants without getting permission from the unions first. That’s why the workers were suspended and not fired. And THESE are the people that Obama loves…those used to be manipulated and led around by a leash. After all, if the unions can do it by bullying and dictating people’s lives, that should make Obama’s job that much easier.

Consider the source: UAW Bosses. Stimulus money?

This is one of the many reasons that the unions are hurting the U.S.. These people should all be fired but one of the purposes of a union is to protect worthless workers like these. How do all of you union members who do work hard all of the time and follow all of the rules feel about this? This clowns are making the same as you if not more.

I’m sure if one of these bozos either gets hurt or hurts someone else when they get back to work, the union would be the first to demand total compensation and benefits from GM. They are probably, even now, sitting in their easy chairs getting paid while suspended….

I made that decision after my second Chrysler (out of 2) had a defective clearcoat and ALL the paint peeled off 3 1/2 years old. EXTREMELY common problem from what I understand. They never should have been bailed out. I for one would LOVE to see them go out of business.

Winged Wolf – one mistake in that video – the guy said it was the second verse – it was the 4th verse.

Here’s the entire lyrics from the Star Spangled Banner

O! say can you see by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming.
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
      Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;
O! say does that star-spangled banner yet wave,
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
‘Tis the star-spangled banner, O! long may it wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps’ pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Oh please don’t worry people. The union will ride to the rescue and make sure nothing serious happens to these people. After all, they were probably just worried about their pension plans and being forced to build an electric car….. Wait, that was at GM, never mind. But I‘m sure that the union still won’t allow any serious punishment and blame this on the company somehow.

Is anyone really surprised? SUSPENDED? They should be fired. First & foremost, they put every co-worker in danger when they are intoxicated in any factory setting. Secondly, in what business in America is anyone ever permitted to consume intoxicants while at work? But I’ll bet the union saves their jobs. If the o-workers of these creeps don’t vehemently protest their being allowed to ever come back to work there, then NONE of you have a hair on your collective @sses!!! There are people begging for work who would never dream of putting your life or their job in danger.

Unfortunately, this story doesnt answer the most important question of all… Since American People BAILED OUT an American company in order to “Save or create” AMERICAN jobs:

Was the beer they were drinking MADE IN AMERICA? At least then we know that our bailout is :::giggles::: trickling down to the American beer makers.
      (end sarcasm)

Fact is that they will only be suspended until the media forgets then will be stumbling around the assembly line again…. fire them!

How do i know this u say ? I’m a union worker and have seen this before!!

I worked for General Motors in 1978. All new employees had a waiting period before they were (allowed) joining the union, to this day I’m not sure that I was given the choice. I started writing this and realized it was four pages long when I finished so I have shortened it to the best of my ability.

There were parties going on inside the plant that lasted for days. We would receive little hand written notes with a map explaining where the party could be located. The steel freight bins ready for shipment were stacked stories high, a block deep, and what seemed like a mile long and the fork truck drivers would regularly build party rooms within these bins and the maps would take us through the rabbit trail until we could find a room card boarded up complete with drop down lighting where there was always a money card game complete with chips, plenty of cold beer, available women and pretty much any vice you please.

The most amazing thing was the total control over productivity that the union had. My very first night on the job a union committeeman came over and told me that I was (over performing) and creating a problem for others that came after me in the assembly process. The part that I was working on made its way through the process of being molded and then step by step, painted, baked in an oven, and assembled until it was finished, my part was to stick a piece of foam with adhesive on one side on the top and bottom of a firebird headlight to keep it from rattling when the car was driven.

There was a steel bin directly behind me for defective parts. The committeeman gave me an example of how I was to perform by taking the next two parts off of the assembly line and throwing them into the defective part bin. He then explained to me that I should work on every third part and when the bin was full they would take the parts and grind them into nothing in order to be remolded into the same part.

I was moved from one assembly position to the other in a plant the size of a small town and at each station I was promptly greeted by someone who held some kind of position in the union and then I was instructed on how not to do my job.

While I was there the UAW was having a lot of meetings concerning the fact that GM was building a factory in Mexico to do the job that we were doing.

Today the tall grass grows where that factory once stood and employed practically everyone in that small Indiana town.

Toyota has a non union plant that the people of Princeton Indiana are thrilled to be working in.
