If you wish to have a career as a politician, look for the district , city or state with the most ignorant people, then run for any open office that represents either of those venues. That was the politics
of yesterday. Locations with mostly ignorant voters were hard to find. The politics of today…..a prospective politicain can run for office in any city, county and state in the union, and count on being elected by the ignorant among us. that is if they can read the ballot.

Hey! This sounds familiar to me.

I’d go further. Any member of congress who has served more than two terms is likely a criminal. Arrest them now and look for the crime later.

How about “Congress shall make no law” and just stop there!
Turn DC into a national park, send the senators and congressmen to their home districts where their constituates have access to them. Any votes on bills etc. can be done by computer. Maybe then those elected won’t be insulated from “the people” by the beltway.
And no pensions for elected! No pay above the average for such work. Restore the Constitution to it’s original intent!!!

One important misquote by Chuck. Congressional terms are for 6 years; not 2, as Chuck stated incorrectly. They are in a cycle that makes it so that only 1/3 of congress is voted in or out every 2 years. So 3 terms = 18 years in congress. Big difference.
Aside from the error, good stuff! I hope Chuck keeps these going.

Chuck did not get it wrong. Representatives serve 2 year terms. Senators serve 6 year terms. Just trying to get the facts right. :)

My Bad! You are correct, sir. The House is 2 and the Senate is 6.

Chuck Woolery is correct in that a congressman or woman’s term is 2 years but the Senate men & women ‘s terms are 6 years. The Senate is actually a part of the congress and in yesteryear was considered the congressional senate. I am in favor of getting rid of the senate because it is not truly representative of the people. It has turned into a whipping post for the party who controls it and overrides the wishes of the people. Today you can tell the outcome of a bill before it even hits the house floor by which party controls the senate. Rotten to the core. That’s what destroyed Ben Nelson of Nebraska in the health bill.

Chuck hit on the root cause of the problems in America when he spoke of the, “ignorance of the constituancy”. There is no such thing as “higher education” in America. Only propaganda, partying, and dancing with the stars couch potatoes. Some people on the street, when asked who is the Vice President of the United States, said Sarah Palin. They were, btw, Obama voters! Doing what you can to save America is a valiant and worthy cause. But it’s just like fighting the battle at the Alamo. You give it everything you have, but you know your going to lose anyway. Generally speaking, America is just too stupid to survive………………….

All states should have [recall laws]…NO pentions…prisson-time for all major Constitutional violations…Repeal the 16th-amdmt and return all senators who are NOT elected by each state-house, and immediately have elections in each state for a REAL group of fedreal-senators. as it is now, the senate is just annother House-of-Rep.’s and usually passes all bills without the actual individual-state’s input. The bailouts and BHO-health-ruination would never gotten through a REAL-sennate. Any Fed.-Judge not following the Constitution–NOT “case-law”–should be fired with no pennsion. READ OUR CONATITUTION! The judges are NOT the final-say to our govermant…They CAN be “dismissed” after they no longer can provide proper service, or go against the Constitution, or have a “behavior un-becomming of a federal judge”… such-as being a communist or marxist(etc…)… or like the [8th-circuit court] which gets overtuned over 80% of the time(or-more).

The idea of terms limits have kind of become useless now, though. These politicans get corrupted very fast, by establishment politicians who brag about in newspaper interviews. And who‘s to say they aren’t currupted before they enter Congress, say while as a governor, a mayor of Chicago (for example), etc. Two terms, for example, is an AWFULLY long time when you have an America-hating liberal in office.

We’re talking about a group of people who organize outside of office, set up groups, funds, strategy’s — you coudl serve office only one term and they can lead youy by the nose through it to their agenda.

Term limits? How about before a chance to serve a term they take a Congressional I.Q. Test, wherein they have to answer a series of 100 questions from the Heritage Foundation, to show their knowledge of the Constitution, our country’s history, and basic political concepts. Anything below a “B” (yes, no “L”’s for Learning here, folks) is a FAILING grade, (in RED INK), and an “F”disqualifies you perminently from office.

Voters should have to take that same test.

Also i wish that only people that payed income tax were allowed to vote and any government help program disqualified you as long as you are on it. As long as you can vote yourself money from the treasurary there will be no treasure in it.

CONSERVATIVEJON, LOL, for many years now I have joked with “No representation without taxation.” This should stop the fools from voting themselves into the treasury.

There should be a way to put this on the 2012 ballot and let the people decide. Congress can be trusted to self regulate as we are now 16 trillion in debt and and haven’t passed a budget since 2006.

KINGRUDDY, I keep saying the same thing. It is exhausting at time when people just CHOOSE to ignore what is happening. I love Chuck. It is about time someone speaks out on this topic. It would eliminate allot of the big egos and temptations of politicians if they knew that they didn’t have years of taking advantage of the American people to reap the “BENEFITS” they receive from screwing us over.

Let me get this straight. Term limits are O.K. for the President, but not for congress or the senate. We need term limits and a limit on their retirement pay. We need to freeze the retirement pay for all those on it at its current value. That alone would cut spending by quite a bit. I’m retired and am on a fixed income, why not all those retired politicians?

if you flip the congress over to quick and they know they can be a lame duck then i believe they would be on the take from day one. i hate to sound so critical but i am a conservative republican, bush had the house and senate when he first came in and nothing was done to make any real changes i don’t no if 9/11 took president but i feel let down by the republicans and will change my affiliation to independent for 20013. with that being said still the devil you know……………

You could also require strict regulations on obeying the oath and put the powers to convict and remove corrupt congressman back to the states that elect them.
