CIA Boasts: Were Enviro Friendly Too, Just Check Out Our Burn After Reading Process

WASHINGTON (AP) — The CIA is touting its version of eco-shredding on Earth Day, saying it’s found a way to make the “burn after reading” process environmentally friendly.

The intelligence agency says classified papers are shredded and burned using an on-site incinerator, which then generates steam to heat water at CIA headquarters.

The CIA says the process reduces landfill waste by nearly 1,000 tons per year. And its employees also recycle more than three tons of plastic, glass, cardboard and other materials annually.

The agency didn’t offer to show reporters how its secret shredding is done, however.

    I am much more concerned with the quality and volume of intelligence gathering within the CIA. This bit of fluff about their enviro-friendliness is pretty disgusting when you consider the frequency of reports about their inability to produce timely and thorough Intelligence.
    To me this is like a plumber telling me he can‘t get my drains cleared completely and they’ll plug again pretty soon because of that…..but his sewer machine runs on solar power and he hauled it here in his Prius.

    This is laughable. The Central Intelligence Agency of all places, privy to information the average person could only dream about still hasn’t caught wind that global warming is a myth? This could be a few things, 1) they’re in with Soros 2) they just thought it would be cute to play to idiot sheeple, or 3) they are completely stupid…. I think it’s all of the above.

    yeah the secret documents arent needed at all? there is no chance that they wont be called upon or searched for? though terrorism doesnt exist and there are no radicals that should be investigated. this just seems a little odd that they are destroying things in general. I dont know.

    We have this landfill that sits on the same spot that 30 years ago was the city dump.That dump was there as long as I could remember and I am 62.Now when it was a dump people would scavage there and you would see a little fire here and there.People would take practicaly everything and re-use it,or to be correct today recycle it.No of course they cannot scavage,too unsafe too unsanitary.They call it a landfill what a pack of dolts,its a damn ugly mountain on the Illinois prarie.I told my sons one day they will dig this up and I will bet anything they burn it.And this is the real joke on all of us they charge a minimum of 50. to dump there,and I will bet whatever you want that the same company will be paid to dig it up.
    While were at it I am tired of being told that we were so evil to the environment.We returned ou bottles and they were cleaned and re used.We returned our milk and juice bottles and they were reused.We didnt air cond Our homes we opened the windows and ran a fan.Our babies didnt have disposable diapers.
    I see down the road from me they tore down a wal mart and built a new Kohls dept store.Why not remodel ,recycle that building? You know the answer dont you.They get the tax breaks to build.And by the way the old wal mart was hauled to the landfill.Of course we have a new wal mart one mile from the old one. PEOPLE WE ARE THE BIGGEST SUCKERS ON THIS PLANET.

      Very well put. And around and around we go. This is just about players recycling money and power around into their own hands. No net gain for Mother Earth. The oil which ends up in China will not be subject to US standards. The less of it we burn, the more pollution for Mother Earth.

    @JZS Your cynicism is a little extreme in regards to people living on earth. We all can’t munch leaves off of trees and run around naked all day to save the earth. I don’t believe the teaching of Jesus Christ demanded this from us either. The earth is is much better condition than it was 30 years ago in many places, as the water and air are much cleaner than in the 70′s. I have been listening to this ecological disaster crap for over 30 years, but none of it ever came to fruition. I remember reading World magazine and Ranger Rick and the World wasn’t going to last another 10 years. What a bunch of bull, it has experienced ice ages and then the melting of the ice, massive volcanic activity, meteorites, but it’s still here and thriving.

      You are right crust, It was the Vikings richest farmland. Vikings have the oldest historical Naval logs. First the growing season grew shorter and shorter then icebergs stared closing their shipping lanes. Greenland was no longer a viable farmland and the went into decline from there.

      I have a friend that did say, even with a liberal carry permit, I never know if you are carrying. I just told him, its not if I am carrying, its really, what caliber. He did enjoy that, in fact, my office did say, if the @#$# hits the fan, they will come to my house to form a perimeter. I think I have enough to arm them.

      Excellent idea; the CIA is now ‘eco friendly’ when their main job should be to infiltrate these gangs of thugs and terrorists who seek to destroy us, and work on exposing them. If they destroy or once again change the country with another attack (successful or not) the the CIA will be shown to be completely useless; then again with Homeland Security assuming more and more power that should not be theirs to begin with, they already are nearly useless anyhow.

      Shame on them. It’s patriotic to dump stuff in landfills. The whole Earth is a landfill. Why do we make a big deal out of this? Dump in the oceans, dump chemicals into the atmosphere, dump trash into the land. The Earth is huge! Humans can dump whatever they want into the air, into the dirt, into the ocean and nothing bad will ever happen. Mother Earth will take care of it. She doesn’t care how many chemicals, toxins, greenhouse gasses or trash we throw into her. She’ll absorb it.

      And of course God understands that reducing pollution has a harmful effect on company profits. And He values company profits above all, and that’s why his son preached that message to the World.

      For some reason this gave me lots of silly thoughts. Probably because it‘s the CIA and they’re not supposed to be silly. That’s a lot of paper for an agency that probably has a super sophisticated computer system. Imagine “24” where they do all of their communication on paper. You’d just hear the clickety clack of printers all the time–and the roar of the furnace. Which leads us to all that hot water. No mention of heating the building with it–so what then? Do they drink a lot of tea? Take a lot of showers? And just imagine all of that glass and where it might come from….!

      I guess you have never traveled outside this country except maybe to a vacation spot. Try traveling the world via helicopter, most of them were socialist or communist country’s and they were filthy dirty pools of waste like you. I worked for two capitalist president’s trying to straiten out their mess you want to bring to us. Communists are so lazy they wont even clean up their own neighborhoods, only the elite ruling class live clean because they legislate their garbage out of the gated community, once again try low level flight across a socialist or communist country, oh they wont allow it unless you work for the elite.
