CIA Director: There Was No Live Video of OBL Raid

The Telegraph has the story:

Leon Panetta, director of the CIA, revealed there was a 25 minute blackout during which the live feed from cameras mounted on the helmets of the US special forces was cut off.

A photograph released by the White House appeared to show the President and his aides in the situation room watching the action as it unfolded. In fact they had little knowledge of what was happening in the compound.

Mr Panetta said: “Once those teams went into the compound I can tell you that there was a time period of almost 20 or 25 minutes where we really didn’t know just exactly what was going on. And there were some very tense moments as we were waiting for information.

“We had some observation of the approach there, but we did not have direct flow of information as to the actual conduct of the operation itself as they were going through the compound.”

Panetta also admitted that the Navy Seals, not the president, made the decision to kill bin Laden:

He said: “The authority here was to kill bin Laden. And obviously, under the rules of engagement, if he had in fact thrown up his hands, surrendered and didn’t appear to be representing any kind of threat, then they were to capture him. But they had full authority to kill him.

“To be frank, I don’t think he had a lot of time to say anything. It was a firefight going up that compound. And by the time they got to the third floor and found bin Laden, I think it – this was all split-second action on the part of the Seals.”

The President only knew the mission was successful after the Navy Seals commander heard the word “Geronimo” on the radio, a code word from commandos reporting that they had killed bin Laden.

The absence of footage of the raid has led to conflicting reports about what happened in the compound. According to Pakistani authorities one of bin Laden’s daughter’s, who was present during the raid, claimed that her father was captured alive before he was killed.

    That has to be a complete big fat lie.
    What were they all gathered together in the photo just released with all of them sitting in a room watching all of the events taking place on the big screen? Hillary Clinton’s expression certainly tells a story and so do the faces of all those who were in attendance. They certainly weren’t looking at still photos being sent over a monitor. Besides, someone (a neighbor when questioned) said that they saw soldiers with cameras on their foreheads.
    Can we get any more lies squeezed out of this event, the CIA haven’t covered all of their own tracks and now want the world to believe the emperor is wearing all his clothes.

      No real way to clarify anything. I personally believe UBL was sold to our govt. in response to a threat of losing billions. Think about it. UBL living in a fenced compound with 12 ft walls less than a mile from the equivalent of West Point in Pakistan. He was a prisoner of the Pakistani military no doubt. They knew exactly where he was at and have known it for years. He just had outlived his use to them.The mistake that people make about these 3rd world countries (especially Muslim ) is assuming they have no clue as to what is going on in their communities. Quite the opposite they know more about their neighbors that the average American. Our Leaders played AGAIN!

    I hope everyone realizes that when Obama visits Ground Zero tomorrow, it will be his FIRST visit since taking office! I’ve asked myself why this is? Well, the guy is so absolutely petty and self-serving that Ground Zero DOES NOT generate for HIM what it does for true AMERICANS (at heart)…to him it HAS represented GEORGE W BUSH…and NOW that HE (actually Panetta and Clinton and Gates) gets the CREDIT for OSAMA…NOW…he CAN GO!!!!!!!! If this doesn’t make you sick…I don’t know what would!

I am glad George Bush is not there for all the humiliation Obama would have given him with his “I” this and “I” that. Seems the more truth be told the less he needs any thanks. Since August they have known where he was and Clinton and Panetta wanted to get him, back off and back off. The look on his face in that room was so telling, anger, hatred, anxt.       I most definitly will not be watching or listening to the speech of his tommorow; he will only use it to try and claim full credit and honors for something he does not, and yes, I will give him credit in part for signing off on the orders for the raid, yet to deny what so many of the past administration and the CIA agents had done is a dishonor of the first and highest order bordering on an insult to the Almighty himself.

      If there wasn’t any video feed how does he know this? He said earlier they didn’t know what was going on since the feed failed.

      I commented on this yesterday, and I believe it is true. If you were the Commader of this high-stakes operation, would you have agreed to having a bunch of civilian lefties and Islamist sympathizers watch live how the raid went down? No way!!

      We all decide what to believe based on what makes sense to us, and that makes sense to me. Watching the takedown unfold would have amounted to a kind of voyeurism and could have jeopardized the entire operation. I refuse to believe the military and the CIA would have agreed to that, and I’ve reached the point where I am 100% convinced that THEY were calling the shots, not Obum. They killed the signal. Good for them. Protect the operation and your butts. GO Navy Seals!

      Also, look at the famous Situation Room photo, and you will notice that the Golfer actually got there late, because Brigadier General Marshall Webb is occupying his seat. Very telling, indeed. That would NEVER have happened under President Bush.

      2. We watched it live vs there was no live feed video

      6. OBL’s wife was killed vs his wife was hit in the leg and captured
      7. OBL hid behind his wife vs his wife attacked the SEALS

      9. OBL was armed vs he was unarmed
      10 OBL had guards outside vs there were no guards
      11 Obama gave the speech to American people vs the pic were staged

      I think not. They had cams, they had weapons, they had the skills. The Gov says he could have been taken alive. Not the case, the assassination was ordered, no capture. SEALS do not go off grid, they do not disobey orders. SEALS don’t do anything other than what they are ordered to do. I congradulate SEAL team 6 on a job well done, and I pity them for the heat they are going to receive because of a weak administration. BZ boys, BZ.
      The teams sacrifice heart and soul for an, apparently, ungrateful nation. We do what we do, we go where we are told, we complete what we are ordered to complete. The administration is turning their backs on the best and brightest. They dare call this an extraction when it was clearly not. If team 6 was told to bring him back alive, they would have. There is no end to the lies and deceit we will see over the next months.

      Regarding the lie that UBL was first captured and then killed, let’s reason it out: They had 40 minutes to land, break into a heavily barricaded compound, kill the men, get the women and children out of the way, identify UBL, gather all visible and hidden intel, destroy the fallen chopper (which apparently they didn’t accomplish entirely), and get the hell out of there in a single chopper (help me if I missed something).

      So, do you think they had time to capture a sick man, interrogate him (why else would they capture him) and then kill him? Give me a break. That girl is lying. Show me a Muslim who doesn’t lie. The Bible says that lying lips are an abomination to God and Jesus called the devil the “father of lies.” By contrast, taqiyya (lying) is acceptable in the Qur’an to deceive the enemies of Islam. So now you know who Allah really is.

      Go on, Hussein, keep on apologizing to the devil and his close followers.

      My guess? It was either the chopper going down or the images WE TOO HAVE SEEN of the bloodied rooms and dead men AFTER THE FACT. Women tend to recoil from graphic violence more than men . Besides, if the Insider article is correct, Hillary’s azz was on the line, and she probably thought the mission would fail when the chopper went down.

      Panetta told the truth. The order was to kill. Did you read the article in question? It’s not that the Navy Seals disobeyed orders. Mr. Present simply washed his hands of all responsibility, and made Panetta the fall guy in case the operation failed. Do you find that hard to believe? I don’t. That has been that coward’s MO since he entered the political scene.

      Panetta is now shifting responsibility on the Navy Seals. Technically speaking, he is saying they were given carte blanche. THAT I find troubling, but that’s what we get for putting a traitor in the WH. If Hussein dares accuse our Seals of wrongdoing, he needs to go.

      Oh please they really expect us to believe that in this day and age?! You can go to any site and see plenty of helmet or gun mounted camera footage. With Skype and countless other vid conferencing capabilities for civilians god knows what the military has. Remember the technologies we take advantage of on a daily basis are usually created for the military first then dumbed down for civilian use.

      They watched it, look at Clintons face that reaction isnt from a still picture! They better just release it all b/c Wikileaks WILL get their hands on it all and put it out with no censorship on faces etc of US operators!

      Like others, if there was no video feed were all those folks in the situation room watching a blank screen just waiting for a flicker of video? Can’t buy that one either.

      I’m confused about what actually happened there. Some of the reports said that Bin Laden had no bodyguards there to protect him. Then what was all the shooting about as the Seals rushed up the stairs to Usama’s bedroom? Was anyone else shot resisting arrest? Why don’t all the updates add up?

      Listen to what is being said. Nobody is denying the technology exists. The signal died during the actual killing, which took about 25 minutes. That makes sense. Hussein & Co. did watch the before and after live feed, and that would explain Hillary’s reaction.

      Do you guys realize that if Hussein’s team was in fact watching the takedown live, it is a very disturbing precedent? Do you want that traitor’s admin to have live access to every move our brave men make in highly sensitive war operations? Do you?? Hasn’t he done enough harm already with his ROE and Medals for Restraint? Our military is not stupid, and God-willing, they will remain loyal to this country.

      We don’t have a video of what transpired in the Situatioh Room, only photos. The whole operation took 40 min., not including arrival on site, which they probably watched live too. The photos were taken before and after, during a span of ~15+ minutes. If you look at the OTHER photos, nobody in the room is watching the screen anymore.

      One more thing, do you think a photographer would have been allowed inside the Situation Room while the takedown unfolded live?

      Never ever has there been a less relialbe administration. The fact that Obama has no value system contributes greatly to all of this miss information. Obama calculates every decision to an ends and measures nothing against right vs wrong. The problem is, Obama has low math skills apparantly and has to recalculate on an ongoing basis.

      I see most of the Blazers here are inching toward support of Osama Bin Laden, the most notorious terrorist the world has ever known. He was responsible (planned, financed) for not only 9-11, but the USS Cole, and numerous other terrorist acts.

      The President of the United States authorized a mission to kill Bin Laden. The Seals went in and killed him.

      And you so called patriots are questioning Obama and questioning the actions of the warriors who went in, killed him, and took OBL’s computers and flash drives. You’re saying Obama is lying, you’re saying OBL is really still alive, you‘re saying OBL didn’t deserve to die because he didn’t have a gun or whatever.

      You’re not patriots, you aren’t relieved the worst terrorist the world has ever know is dead. You just hate Obama, that’s the sole basis of your comments.       And you wonder why there are conspiracy theories. First they watched it all live, now they didn’t, They used a woman as a human shield, now they didn’t. Then OSL was armed, now he is unarmed.
      My biggest question, and I have not seen it asked, How did they get a DNA confirmation that fast? I thought it took at least several days. By the time they got the body and sample, put it on the ship, where i‘m sure they don’t have a good lab. Then got the sample to a good lab, they eemed to have a DNA confirmation by the middle of the next day. Isn’t that awful quick?
