City in California to Accept Mexican I.D. For Identification

Mexican ID Will Be Accepted As Identification in Sonoma County California

Law enforcement officials in Sonoma County, California, announced Sunday that agencies will begin accepting both California driver’s license and ID cards issued by the Mexican consulate as valid identification.  The cause has been pushed by the North Bay Organizing Project, a coalition of immigration, labor, conservation and bicycle activists, who hosted Sunday’s rally. The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports on the the rally:

“On the auditorium stage, project members asked Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office and Santa Rosa Police Department officials to state if their agencies would start accepting the Mexican ID cards.

Sonoma County Assistant Sheriff Lorenzo Dueñas answered in the affirmative.

‘Claro,’ he said in Spanish, a response that prompted nearly 800 people into cheers, stomping and ear-piercing whistles.

‘Today is a great day,’ Dueñas said in English. ‘We’re now going to accept the matriculár consular ID.’”

The idea has been advocated by law enforcement as a means to reduce the immigration-related duties of local cops, with supporters pointing out that stats that half of the 921 immigrants turned over to ICE authorities by the jails had not committed a crime, and another third had committed minor offenses. Groups attending the rally included the Centro Laboral de Graton, MoveOn.org and the Latino Democratic Club.

NBC Bay Area reports that Mexican nationals will need to apply to the consulate for IDs, and that the consulate will likely set up an operation in the area to both issue cards and instruct people how to do so.

    We except IDs from a lot of other countries. Would you demand that all visiters from other countries get US ID or is it just those dirty brown people and muslims. Maybe we should make everyone that comes from Canada a teatard approve ID.

    This is nothing new. The cops in Houston Texas have been accepting those cards as proof of ID for years and years. Bank of America (no pun intended) will open checking and savings accounts with those cards.

    I‘m guessing they will also accept ID’s from Iran and Iraq. Awful law enforcement. Sounds like aiding and abetting criminals.

    California is a joke and totally out of touch with reality! I wouldn’t accept a Mexican I.D. no matter what! But let the city and state go on its merry way until it falls apart financially and then comes crying for a bail-out! We should not pay for any assistance to illegals no matter what! Let them fend for themselves if they choose to come here illegally! Why should the tax payers foot the bills for them?
    Maybe a flat tax would help solve the problem! Then they’d have to pay! Like it or not!

    The government is stopping traffic in Tennessee looking for terrorists because our borders are so pourous. I believe the failure to secure the borders is done with intent. My oldest son lives in California since got out of the Marine Corps (that is “core” for Obamites). He is planning on moving soon.

That‘s what we are seeing here with california with it’s pitiful,absurd, progressive little headline on their latest insane government action against the will of the people. Had this been put to a vote of the people, they would have turned it down only to have it overturned by the courts favorite homosexual judge ! Just like the same sex marriage law.     My sister is a model/actress over in California; she wants to get the hell out of there (she’s conservative — not an easy thing over there). She wants to go to New York. I’ve tried to tell her: New York is just as bad, and getting worse. But the work just isn’t out there in other places for her. :-(

    But at least she’s getting the hell out of there. Every isngle conservative, Republican, Rhino, shoudl get out of there. Speak with your feet and lack of tax money turned/forced in. California is not big enough to fail — all 50 states (or 61, according to Obama) are all just the right size to fail, and this one needs to Fail Hard: With a Vengeance.

      I live in Texas. I was at a local thrift store, and the man in front of me spoke no English. I speak un poquito Espaniol….very little. I could tell the cashier (fluent in Spanish) was asking him for his ID. He hesitated, dropped his voice low and said something I couldn’t understand as he was thumbing through his wallet like he was pretending to look for some ID. I heard her say something was good (bueno) and he immediately pulled out a picture ID that wasn‘t a Texas Driver’s license. I assumed it was from another country. Why she asked for ID when he was paying cash, I’ll never know. She didn’t ask for my ID and I paid with a credit card.
