Clinton Derides ‘Illegitimate’ Israeli Settlements as U.S. Vetoes Palestinian Resolution

The U.S. delegation to the United Nations Friday used its veto power to reject a Security Council resolution condemning continued Israeli settlement expansion as illegal.  Shortly before the vote, however, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton described the settlements as “illegitimate.”

In a pre-recorded interview with ABC News’ Christiane Amanpour that will run Sunday, Clinton said, “I think it is absolutely clear to say, number one, that it’s been American policy for many years that settlements were illegitimate and it is the continuing goal and highest priority of the Obama administration to keep working toward a two-state solution with both Israelis and Palestinians.”

The United States’ veto kept the Security Council resolution from passing, with all other council members endorsing the measure.

Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the UN, said the resolution threatened to harm the peace process.

“It is the Israelis‘ and Palestinians’ conflict, and even the best-intentioned outsiders cannot resolve it for them,” she said.  “Therefore, every potential action must be measured against one overriding standard: Will it move the parties closer to negotiations and an agreement?

“Unfortunately, this draft resolution risks hardening the positions of both sides. It could encourage the parties to stay out of negotiations and, if and when they did resume, to return to the Security Council whenever they reach an impasse.”

Last December, Clinton also contested the legitimacy of Israeli settlements.

“We do not accept the legitimacy of continued settlement activity,” she said. “We believe their continued expansion is corrosive not only to peace efforts and two-state solution, but to Israel’s future itself.”

If we had stopped Hitler in 1935, then the Soviets would have taken all of Europe, collapsing the British Empire even sooner and the Vatican would have been liquidated. Instead, we waited to the last minute and Great Britain lost her empire anyway, but the Vatican was saved! Cheerio, auf Wiedersehen, don’t forget to write.

Hay, didn’t Israel erect a monument honoring the red army? I could have sworn I read that in Haaretz.

Don’t mind me, I just woke up.

Let the US veto reflect that We The People the true power in this nation fully support Israel and their continued building of settlements on their rightful lands. Let it also be understood that We The Oeople support any action the Nation of Israel would take to defend itself against any nation or group that would strike Israel. We The People stand behind you Israel even if our elected pinheads don’t.

That’s funny that we vetoed something that was, in fact, empirically true–Israel HAS expanded settlements into areas it agreed not to be treaty, thus breaking the law, which one’s word as a government ought to be and legally is recognized as.

This administration confounds me! Israel has been the greatest of our Middle Eastern allies, and is the ONLY country in the Middle East that is actually a democracy. They have warned us, helped us and stood by us. They have been dissed by this administration…for reasons we’ll never know.

Then there’s Iran, who wants to eradicate Israel…then the United States. They want to ‘wash the world in blood’ and destroy all ‘infidels’. Of course, that is the country that this administration publicly extends it’s hand out to. It’s unexplainable, inexuseable and just plain dangerous.

God, what I‘d give for just one intelligent person to emerge from the ’Democratic’ party. One that actually sees the danger our country is being thrown into…one that actually understands that if Israel is attacked, they will fight back and millions will die – because of the selfish Iranian dictator. One that undertands that the US is being penetrated – as we speak – by Iranians on the southern border who mean to destroy the entire nation. God, but for just one intelligent ‘Democrat’ that can realize that, while they are fighting, protesting and making disparaging comments toward any Republican, Independent or Tea Party member who disagrees with them, their true enemy is coming right across the border with dirty bombs and a desire to behead all ‘Infidels’. This administration has no intention of warning…or defending the American people. That is the only thing I’m absolutely sure of anymore.

I’ll never understand why the world is SO consumed by this tiny little nation called Israel and its people. There are huge and significant issues in the world which need the UN’s undivided attention and this is not one of them. The US should make clear our position and stand by Israels right to develop their own lands wherever and whenever they choose. Israel has made enough concessions to the terrorist (want to be) nation called Palestine. Leave Israel in PIECE and there will be PEACE for all concerned.

      C. Rice, during her office time, called and encouraged a halt to the building of settlements in the West Bank because they were a detriment to the peace talks. However, she, nor the administration called them “illegitimate”. I agree that halting settlements will move the talks in a forward direction, but I think it will expose the palistinians for what they are and what their goals are, just as they were prior to 1967. An establishment of a Pal. State in that area will never work, politically or militarily. The Palistinians, or Helen Thomas (anyone who thinks like her) will never stop until Israel is wiped off the map. Period!!!!! We need to stand by Israel. Period!!!!!

I guess that the Israelis should abort their children and not expand there buildings to accommodate population growth. They are not stupid, because they know that abortion is murder even in their laws. So they have to expand in the areas that are under their control that is not “Palestinian Land”. But it is the Palestinians that refuse to allow that the Israelis have been returned to their land, that is why the Temple Mount is so hot as a territory. If the Jews were to rebuild on the site a new Temple then some would be able to worship God in a more meaningful way. It is what they pray for. And it is what is needed for the Anti-Christ and for Christ to return. Iran will start a war and they will end up destroying the Dome of the Rock Mosque with an errant missile since the scuds that Iran has are not as precise as they would lead you to believe. And if the Iranians fire off missiles and one hits near that Mosque it will be game on for the Hassidic Jews to rebuild their 3rd Temple.

Abraham, the Father of the Nation of Israel received the land directly from God as a gift to His chosen people. It was lost to the gentiles, mainly of Arabic descent, during many centuries. In 1948 the new State of Israel was established and Israel occuppied only a portion of it’s land. All the area known as “Palestine” and more that was originally given to Abraham and his descendents is a rightful and legitimate claim of the Jews. Therefore, the Jewish Settlements are not “illegitimate” as U.S.Secretary Of State Hillary Clinton has wrongly stated. It’s the Palestinians who are illegitimately claiming Jewish land as their own. Personally, I believe Israel should incorporate the Gaza Strip and the West Bank as it’s legitimate territory. This “tug-o-war” over the land will continue until the King of the Jews, Jesus Christ, returns to earth to establish his reign. Obama and Clinton had better get on the right side of the fence as God has promised to bless those who do good towards Israel and bad to those who do harm to Israel. Siding with the Palestinians and against the Jews, is bad move on the part of American authorities.

You are on the right track. Actually, the Babylonians took the land. Then it went to the Medo-Persians, the Greeks, and finally the Romans.

Today the majority of Christians are dispensationlists. At least in this country. But it is irrelevant, is it not? If they are indeed still God’s chosen people (though most people do not understand why they were chosen in the first place) then don’t you think that if/when God chooses to totally fulfill His covenant with them that He will make it happen? I seriously doubt ANY power on earth would even give God pause for thought!

The Bible is very clear however that Israel‘s friends are God’s friends and those against Israel will be cursed. I love to hear people say. “God is on our side!” That is almost as stupid as the bumper sticker that reads, “God is my co-pilot.” Brother, if God is your co-pilot then you are in the wrong seat!!! God is not on ANY side, you better be sure you are on His! God will take care of Israel.

The lines drawn prior to 1967 seems have been erased when Israel was attacked by those intent upon removing Israel from the maps of the world.

promotes what is in the interest of those who would deny Israels right to live in peace in Israel- our own Government acts unreasonable. And ought be condemned.

broker0101, sadly this is going to effect us, of course not as much as it will effect Israel and those around them, but if we don’t stand on the right/correct side it will come to us swift and hard.

      @Broker0101

Which issue is that? You mean Hope and Change? I sure hope not. There is no fixation here at least Glenn presents his case and ask us to do our own homework. You are asking what exactly? The Left is always dishing out a bunch of self serving platitudes. Stop being redundant and insignificant and provide something of substance for a change.

Rebellion and the prophetic aftermath of American foreign policy

As Americans begin to deal with the gas price increase of some 50 cents in the past four months, 16 cents a gallon in the last week, the unrest in the Middle East begins to take a more concrete position in the hearts and minds–and pocketbooks–of the citizens. This is going to sink in real fast about what the Lord says of Israel in Genesis 12:3, “I will bless them that bless thee and curse him that curses thee.” The faster the enemies of Israel are established and reestablished the more we will see this very verse in the near beginning of the Bible play out before our eyes. Why? There is increasingly more evidence that the White House is behind much of the unrest.

News outlets such as the UK Telegraph, the Examiner, the Jerusalem Post and more are painting a picture of a delusional American president working with international socialist organizations, the Muslim Brotherhood and other dissident groups throughout the Middle East to foment revolution in the name of democracy. The man who occupies the Oval Office told a group of Jewish campaign donors in Miami that Israel and the US should not be afraid of the changes taking place in the Middle East. He said, “I‘m actually confident that 10 years from now we’re going to be able to look back potentially and say this was the dawning of an entirely new and better era.”

The new and better era, however, is truly one of perspective. If you are Islamic, the possibilitiy of a totally “Islamified” Middle East is greater today than in any other since the establishment of Israel in 1948. A Wikileaks released secret document reveals that the most powerful nation in the world, the United States, has been working to undermine governments throughout the Middle East. The public position, of course, is to establish democracy. In reality, however, the United States has done the heavy lifting of aiding and abetting revolution in the Middle East. As Redstate.com reports, “Now the Muslim Brotherhood, with the help of Iran and some al Qaeda support, will start the real revolution.”

As America braces itself for $4 dollar gasoline and all the inflationary aftermath, those who can discern the scriptures will see the direct cause and effect of being rebellious to God’s word. God will not be mocked. In Isaiah 66:1 the Lord says, “The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool.” In verse 4, the Lord says, “I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear; but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.” This is a strong word today. And many will take offense. Understand, God judges nations and the truth of the prophecies are not denied. Gird yourself and pray for mercy.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!
