WASHINGTON (AP) — Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is calling on Egypt to move toward an orderly transition to democracy, but says there’s a long way to go.
Clinton tells “Fox News Sunday” that the situation in Egypt is volatile and complex, as protestors continue to swarm into the streets.
While noting that President Hosni Mubarak has finally appointed a vice president, she says the U.S. also does not want to see a takeover of the government in Egypt that would lead to oppression.
The State Department says U.S. citizens in Egypt should consider leaving the country as soon as they can because of the spreading unrest there, and other countries were doing the same.

Report Post »I am just a little pissed! How come our American leaders say it is ok for them, the Egyptians, to have a rally and speak their mind and seek to have their regime listen to them BUT, if the TEA Party gorup has a PEACEFUL RALLY. we are called “Tea Baggers” “Dangerous”, and all sorts of names. Well, I think the EGYPTIANS are a little off, tearing up their cities, burning and raping.
Let me ask this, has the Tea Party Group EVER done such a thing? Hell no. But listen to HIllary and other Dempocrat leaders have noting but good to say about the rioters in EGYPT.
We had signs, nothing like the have over there and we are held to the fire..
TALK ABOUT DOUBLE STANDARD.
While our government is looking into a switch to turn off the internet, Our government leaders are telling Egypt how bad that was. Our government will not consider TERM LIMITS, but do not want other countries to be in there forever. We have had Senators and Congressman grow ancient in office. It has to be the MONEY the get. or the connection to money.
It is time for many of them to go HOME. Leave DC and let go of the reins. They have lost touch witht he citizens.
Agian, I don’t understand why it is bad for the Tea Party Group to take a stand but they are encouraging EGYPT to take a stand against their long term elected officials.
DOUBLE TALK, all DC is DOUBLE TALK!

Posted on January 30, 2011 at 2:10pmMost probably military will take over in a week. Mubarak will be out. Military will have a govt with a few technocrats maybe one or two opposition leaders in their cabinet. Some vague promise of election. Eventually the protest will die down and things back to way it was. The status quo would be beneficial for the elite and Military in Egypt, Israel, US, …
Next country to have popular unrest would be Pakistan. Very volatile …

Posted on January 30, 2011 at 1:28pmElitists like Clinton and Obama always tout democracy because they know that majority rule — mob rule — is ultimately just a transition to a oligarchical dictatorship, ruled by elitists like them. It is the ultimate transitory government to tyranny! Tyrants love democracy because it is arbitrary, rather than protective of individual rights. It brushes aside the rule of law in preference for rule by elitist dictators.

Posted on January 30, 2011 at 10:49amI can’t imagine Egypt forming a stable two-party system like we have if they become a democracy. What I can picture is a vast field of groups all demanding a say, then the formation of a ‘coalition government’ that will never have the strength to stand for long and unite the people. Only the Islamists will have the long-term cohesion to be a uniting factor until one day Egypt becomes an Islamic state. They may not need to use violence, either. The Islamics can use the democracy to achieve final power similarly to how Hitler used it to eventually become Fuhrer.

Posted on January 30, 2011 at 9:56amEdgar Cayce predicted many years ago that we would uncover a Hall of Records under the paw of the Sphinx about now. There is secret video taken recently of a lot of night digging and excavating going on there. There is also talk of a Stargate opening up in that region. With all of the looting of antiquities in the news there must be a connection with US involvement and with the powers that be. There is more to this than meets the eye.
Do your own homework. Lots of footage on youtube under “excavating under the Sphinx”.

I recall the glee among lib pundits when Israel withdrew from Gaza. Peace was finally in sight for the region! That was in Sept. 2005. Five months later, Hamas had taken control of Gaza. Their violence has been directed not only against Israel, but against Egypt as well. And, of course, they are trying to impose Sharia law, which they vowed never to do when they were elected.
You’d think the lib idiots learned their lesson after Hamas banned foreign reporters in 2009 and censored its own media. Uh-uh. The violence is and will always be Israel’s fault.

Any action taken by Hamas, Hezbollah, or any other anti-Israeli group or country is justified in their eyes…..it is never the fault of the antagonists, it is the fault of the “occupiers”. Helen Thomas was definitely not a minority in her opinion of the state of Israel…..it is the dominate opinion in our media…..and the White House.

Yeah, even the Jewish media. What a bunch of miserable traitors! I am sorry if I offend some here, but after JournoList was exposed, my sympathy for Pearl went down several notches.
Honestly, many of the commentaries on Fox in re Egypt have been misleading and downright stupid.
When I hear an “analyst” on Fox say that even if Islamists take control of Egypt, they will never attack Israel because Israel has nuclear weapons, I wish I could plug his pie hole.
Robert,

Correct on the Abrams tanks along with at least one M48 tank if I saw the photos correctly; this is not a battle of theology, it is a battle of the people tired of economic repression and the dictates of a single man running the country. Check out several of the online reports that during the times of the call to prayer from the minarettes the action on all sides stopped until the prayers were finished then they resumed.
In Egypt, it is the military leaders who will decide the changes to occur; and if they decide Mubarak is to go, then he will go.

Posted on January 30, 2011 at 9:02pmWho appointed the United States in charge of telling the rest of the world how they must live? You want to know why so many of the world’s people hate the USA? One of the main reasons is that we look down our noses at them and say you should do this or you need to do that. All the while we are doing this, we are telling our own government to quit telling us how to live, or demanding our rights be honored. When I was on a job in Chile, one of the engineers I was working with told me he hated the way Americans came to his country, looked down their noses at him and told him all the things that are wrong with his country. How many more people of the world do we have to piss off before Americans learn to practice what they preach!

If you believe we shouldn’t tell others how to “live” I’m sure you are good with stopping all aid to those countries as well.
If you or any country does not like our advice nor want it then do not expect aid from the US as well. This is why the USA does say this is how you should change etc as you stated. The whole world COMES asking the US for help then complains when we suggest creating a more free country. Don‘t want our advice don’t come begging for help and wipe your own ass. If you do ask and take our help shut up and take the advice of those supporting you. Pretty simple concept.
The world doesn’t hate the US, the world is envious because we are the most free and prosperous nation to ever exist.
