WASHINGTON (AP) — Former President Bill Clinton says he didn’t ask Democratic candidate Kendrick Meek to drop out of the Florida Senate race, but says the two spoke about the race and its challenges.
Clinton issued a statement on Friday in which he called Meek a close friend. He said he and Meek spoke last week after a rally in Orlando. Clinton said he told Meek that how he goes forward in the race was his decision to make.
Clinton said he still believes Meek could be the best senator for Florida.
Meek trails in a three-way race with Republican Marco Rubio and Gov. Charlie Crist, who abandoned the GOP to run as an independent. Meek went on TV to swat down reports that he had told Clinton that he would drop out to improve Crist’s chances of defeating the front-runner Rubio.

Posted on October 29, 2010 at 3:29pmWhite House & Clinton leaked the story to help Crist. Wall Street Journal wrote about this a few weeks back and no confirmation then, but according to Crist this is weeks in the making. The story came from Clinton people, the so called friend for Kendrick Meek. I think Meek knows he was thrown under the bus or he would not be contradicting Clinton left and right today.

Posted on October 29, 2010 at 3:18pmOn the plus side though, it would now be all but impossible for Meek to drop out. I think the polls are all badly skewed to the left, the voter turnout is going to make all the difference, but I do not want ANY chance that Crist could pull this off. Though how anyone can vote for that turncoat is beyond me…

Posted on October 29, 2010 at 3:16pmLiving in Florida and watching this unfold, the real story is Crist, this man epitomizes the problem, he will say or do anything to stay in power, Greta had to shut him off last night as he kept going on about Rubio being an extremist and is going to overturn Roe V Wade…

Posted on October 29, 2010 at 3:25pmSore looser, he was even in on the conferences and then has the audacity to say they are just concerned for Floridians and who would be best for them. Yeah, right. If Florida doesn’t see what Crist is for sure now they are blind and should switch their vote to Rubio and put him so far down for his sneaky and dishonest ways. If we can get Meek to drop out, then Crist, Mr. Which Ever Way the Wind Blows for Me, will go Democratic. Watch out Florida, he’s taking you for a lying ride.

Actually, thinking about it, isn’t Bernie Sanders always truthful? I totally disagree with his objectives, but at least he tells the truth.

Posted on October 29, 2010 at 4:14pmIt depends on what the definition of “is” is. The key word here is “ask” Bill Clinton did not “ask” him to withdraw. What Bill probably did was “tell” him or “dicuss” with him or better yet “advised” him to withdraw but he did not “ask” him. Bill is very tricky with his world in “Bill’s World” but in our world we all know the story is true. Man that guy knows how to weasel out of a lie.

Posted on October 29, 2010 at 4:34pmNo, what he’s saying is the “black” guy is either lying, or just too stupid to understand what he meant. I’m sure with the White House on the phone with Crist there was absolutely no plan for Meek to drop out. The White House just wanted to wish Charlie the best of luck. This is such a crock! Again the White House told Clinton to deny what he really said and make poor Meek look like a fool. Another progressive play move.
