Clinton Will Lead ‘Last Chance’ Mideast Peace Talks

(AP) — Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is shepherding Mideast talks this week that she says may be the last chance for peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

Clinton and former Sen. George Mitchell, President Barack Obama’s special envoy to the region, planned to be in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheik, Egypt, for talks Tuesday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

They’re scheduled to shift to Jerusalem for a second day of talks Wednesday.

The most immediate obstacle for negotiators is a Palestinian demand that Israel extend a curb on new housing construction in the West Bank — a constraint that Israel says will expire Sept. 26.

Obama said Friday that he has urged the Israeli leader to extend the partial moratorium as long as talks are making progress. Obama also said he‘s told Abbas that if he shows he’s serious about negotiating, it will give political maneuver room for Netanyahu to take the domestically unpopular step of extending the limits on settlements.

Abbas knows “the window for creating a Palestinian state is closing,” Obama said.

Clinton’s task, he said, is to get the Israeli and Palestinian leaders to “start thinking about how can they help the other succeed, as opposed to how do they figure out a way for the other to fail.”

OK maybe it just me, but aren’t arabs the ones that have no respect for women, (the way they treat their own women). Why would Obama send a woman to arab countries to conduct peace talks. Is he trying to set her up to fail. Not that I care if Hillary succeeds or not, but there is something else going on here with Obama. I have a funny feeling either he or one of his cronies are going to swoop in in the last minute and save this so they could come off as superstars. Didn’t something similar happen not tooo long ago.

Last Chance? What a dumb statement…There will never be peace over there…Never has been…The Muslims will not allow it.

Then you misinterpret who’s last chance she REALLY means. This administration is getting ready to desert Israel to the wolves. Once they think the can convince people that Israel is the bad guy then they can say they tried their best but those jews didn’t want peace. Enough BS hillary.

Hillary? They should send Bill. He’d have them on their knees in no time. It’s clear to me that the administration only supports Israel because of voting block issues. Iran wants to kill every jew that lives there while denying that anybody ever wanted to do such things. You will not have peace there, ever. Only victory over terror will bring hope to the region. I say they should clear the west bank and finally have a whole country. This country in a country nonsense needs to stop. if we can find a place for the jews then we can find a place for the palestinians. This is a religious fight. Either pick a damn side and fight or let those who want to kill each other resolve it themselves. Pass out radiation suits later and heal the sick but it will not end in any other way. This battle has to be fought because both sides are far too comfortable negotiating to prolong the pain. Just end it. Once it starts, choose a side or shut the hell up.

Unless the peace talks are followed by the extermination of all muslims in Israel (and expanding outward from there), there will be no “Middle East Peace”

I don’t know about anyone else… But, I feel better we are putting our trust in a “last chance” mission of peace in the middle east on ms. rodam-clinton (she still is hyphenated – right?). Lord knows – ONLY ms rodam-clinton could broker a “lasting” peace deal in the middle east.

Every Christian should realize the only successful peacemaker in negotiations involving Israel and its enemies will be the Antichrist. Unless you want the Great Tribulation to begin ASAP, you don’t want to rush a peace agreement. Abbas isn’t the candidate by far, in my mind.

Doesn’t Vince Gill have a song about “One more last chance”,?

Clinton is either more arrogant than Obama (& that’s hard to believe), or this is yet another “manufactured crisis” ginned up by the admin.

Isn’t this like negotiating with a serial killer? “Please don’t kill me, I’ll give you my car”
“Thanks, but I still want to kill you”.
    “I’ll give you my house”
“Thanks, but I still want to kil you”.
    “I’ll give you my money”.
“Thanks, but I still want to kill you”.

    Anybody notice a trend?

Everything is the same with this admin….this is the last chance we have, time is running out unless we act now, we‘re the only ’hope’ left, Their ‘it’s all about me’ attitude is getting very old. How many peace talks have there been? Didn’t Carter have a peace agreeement signing? I’m sure the next admin will have to go and try to make peace between these two also. More power to Pres. Obama and Hilary if they can find common ground and finally have the Israeli & Palestinians make a lasting peace agreement, but enough already with the “last chance”.

LOL. These negotiations have been going on forever. Some how I do not think HC is going to get anywhere. It will be the same thing. It will LOOK like something is happening but turn out to be bull. The problem is, the Palestinians have shown that they don’t want to live together in peace. Israel has given up territory in the past only to be attacked. This “Peace talk” initiative unfortunately isn’t going to go anywhere. Even though Obozo would bend over backward for his Muslim friends, Israel isn’t going to make it easier for HAMAS to attack them.

Even if the Politicians aggree, the Muslim people will not. There will be no peace in the Middle East until Islam has its own Reformation, Age Of Enlightenment and Age Of Reason (or the equivalents thereof)…so the terror will continue.

What I find amazing is that our politicians do not understand Islam…peace treaties and alliances with infidels are allowed, but only when Islam is in a position of weakness. Once adequate strength is gathered, the treaties must be broken for the advancement of Islam. Similar concepts apply to individual Muslims: they may lie to infidels and even deny their faith and beliefs if it benefits Islam in the end. How can we hope for peace with people who lack the desire for it or the honor to enforce it?

Postprogressiveamerican: You’ve hit some points that we have also concluded.
Conflict is so ingrained in the Middle Eastern culture that may be genetic. Added to this, of course, is their distrust, fear and hatred of the Western world which to them justifies their resistance to peace and hamony. It doesn‘t help that parts of the Quran are a Jihdist’s handbook as taught by their extremist clerics.
Our leaders seem to approach the Middle East as though they have transcended their penchants for killing one another. We don’t need to validate their abhorrent behavior as if were and accepted way of life or culture.

Palestinians are Jordanian. Last time I ooked at the map, Jordan is already a country. Liberal maps even still show the West Bank as part of Jordan, so if anyone besides Israel would possibly have a claim to that area, it would be Jordan. And Jordan has not be a part of negotiations for the West Bank. Throw these parasites out.

The main threat in the middle -east is Iran. Iraq WAS about Iran. The media and the “Speech Giver” made a big deal out of the last combat troops being pulled out. What they did not say is we just moved them to Afghanistan!!!! Why?? Iraq is some what stable and on one side of Iran. Afghanistan is on the other side of Iran and also in between Pakistan were the civil war between MODERATE Muslim’s and SHARIA LAW Muslims is heating up. The fact is we still have 180,000 Combat boots on the ground and thousands of support troops in countries like Kuwait!! WHY ??? IRAN.IRAN,IRAN

The Palestine State issue is also about Iran. It has two proxy armies Hamas and Hezbollah on two sides of Israel. There never was a State of Palestine,it was a region. Just like Persia made up up Arabs and Persians. The countries today on the map were all made up after WWI and WWII. The elephant in the room is IRAN and all the players know it!!

Now just like Korea does Iran all of a sudden is talking about releasing the female hiker. It is a big chess game and good cop/bad cop being played by all of the “Government Stupids” of the world!!
