CNBC’s Rick Santelli is gaining quite the reputation. Not only do many credit him with sparking the Tea Party movement, but in the past he’s also chastised Democrats for opposing the reading of the Constitution. Today, he gives the world another great clip when he lashes out at his colleagues for trying to defend the “positive” job numbers (see here for background):
From the Media Research Center:
The mainstream news media will likely latch on to the dropping unemployment rate, despite job gains that were less than one-fourth of the consensus estimate of 148,000 jobs added. One of the CNBC panelists noted that the increase was “way below consensus.” [...]
“[W]e have overwhelming evidence the jobs market is disappointing, and all of you are trying to look for that one half of spaghetti in a 50 lb. spaghetti bowl. This is not great data,” Santelli claimed. “We know that the U6 probably gives you a better indication of the true unemployment rate …”

Posted on February 4, 2011 at 2:59pmSo in one month they want us to believe that the unemployment rate went from 9.4% to 9.0%, and we should be singing “Happy days are here again” because 36,000 jobs were added. Well break out the champagne – 36,000 new jobs. Are they government jobs? I don’t believe these numbers for one fat minute.

Because what we just reported would be wrong!!! We are NEVER wrong!!! ….Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!

Posted on February 4, 2011 at 2:44pmThe MSM just announced that Egypt now have full employment today.
Report Post »That Mubarak sure knows how to create jobs quickly.
See, now that all the job seekers/unemployed, those seeking and those that have stopped seeking are no longer seeking a pound or even a strand of spachetti.
See, there are not even a small bowl of spaghetti in Egypt, muchless a large one.
Sooo! Why try to find even 1/2 of a strand. of spaghetti anywhere.
Yes, we have NO spachetti. NO spachetti today.
Or tomorrow or the day after . Stop looking.
Mubarak does not want to count you as one looking for spaghetti. Not even looking for 1/2 a stand.
I heard Spain used to make green spaghetti, but now, even they are out of green spaghetti
That would mean he would have to count you as a seeker of spaghetti.

Right on the target ALINEDOG!
I’ve gone through several periods of unemployment without applying for a dime from the government even though I was “entitled” to do so. It would be inconsistent with my espoused principles to rail against big government and then participate in it… So I wasn’t counted in the unemployment statistics.
I can also attest that – at least here in Michigan – the number of unemployed people who are no longer able to claim jobless benefits and thus have fallen off the statistical rolls – is staggering!

Posted on February 4, 2011 at 2:43pmThere IS a lot of deception – Kudos tho for mentioning U6 – which DOES include under-employed, and those who have simply given up looking (16 +%).
What is laughable to me is, how they want to look at ‘new claims’ for unemployment. In this world, that is like saying a man is getting better, because he only lost 2 pints of blood, and he lost 4 pints the day before! Once he bleeds out, he will lose none – does that mean he is all better? LMAO!

Posted on February 4, 2011 at 2:45pmStatistics are to be questioned when presented by a Progressive.
The lower unemployment rate does not include those who have fallen off the unemployment checks and have given up looking for jobs.
The “rise” in employment came with the installation of a Republican House of Representatives. That is the ONLY “HOPE” that Americans have been thrown! If we can get a majority in the Senate and elect a CONSERVATIVE Republican president before the Progressives accomplish rioting in the streets, we’ll be okay, I think. I pray so, anyway.

Within the next few years, interest on the debt will consume much of the budget. That 10-YR yield they were talking about… Well, if interest rates go up, the debt becomes even more expensive to service. Borrowing money will become impossibly expensive. There are models that predict a technical default within the next five years. We could soon meet the technical criterion for a downgrade on our debt. Titanic will founder.

Posted on February 4, 2011 at 4:52pmWhat REAL economists look at when gauging employment ebb and flow is the increase in state and federal tax revenue, a prorated increase in the state and federal GDP and less people currently collecting unemployment while still eligible. You see, liberals can’t do math and when more people are working now from last month will show a clear indication of higher tax revenue and more money being paid out from payroll, which must be legally reported by every business due to payroll tax. THAT proof will be undeniable as to the shrinking unemployment. Fudging numbers is what Bernie Madoff and Enron did so don’t let idiot Obamanomics distort your brain. If the Obama administration was smart enough to look at those figures, they would be able to accurately portray our real unemployment stats, but they consistently fail to show why these numbers drop which is a clear indication that they haven’t. Everybody salivates at real proof, so not having any proof to speak of is irresponsible reporting. C’mon liberals, you gotta do better than that since you apparently think we are stupid…..wrong again!

It will continue to drop, then in March or April, 2012, just before the primaries, it will dip to about 7.6% or 7.7% because Obama knows he won‘t have a chance if it’s over 8%.

Citizens use to get an after work job a few days a week doing dishes, busing tables even waiting on tables but those days are gone..and have been for the last 10 years.. many small businesses have closed and the others use illegals.. heck even babysitting has become a money maker for the government.. they give the mothers part of the money to pay a baby sitter but ONLY if they give them the SS# of their babysitter.. However.. I do know some illegals who baby sit for each other and work cash jobs and pay NO taxes.. they are totally off the grid.. I do know many who have given up looking.. Mostly it’s those who are near retirement age.. and while they claim everyone needs to be retrained that is NOT the problem.. the problem is the few jobs out there are in things like warehouses.. now what kind of training does someone in their late 50′s need to work in a warehouse.. weight lifting??

Posted on February 5, 2011 at 10:51amEvery stat the gov’t puts out is a lie. Every single one. They only count that which has little effect or negative effect on economic indicators. Inflation, unemployment, jobs growth. It does not matter they are all lies meant to make politicians look good. Why is food, fuel and HC indexed? So they have little effect on reported inflation. Inflation is under reported(1% , actual 12%) Same with unemployment(reported 9% actual 19.2%) So why should we believe any data supplied by the gov’t? We should not. As Joe Wilson said“You lie”. Still waiting for the WH to tell me how jobs saved is calculated.
