CNN Cancels March 1st Debate After Santorum, Romney & Paul Drop Out

CNN Cancels March 1 Debate in Atlanta After Santorum, Romney, Paul Drop Out

CNN has been forced to cancel its March 1 debate in Atlanta after the top two Republicans in the debate canceled their participation.

“With eight other states voting on March 6, we will be campaigning in other parts of the country and unable to schedule the CNN Georgia debate,” Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said, which was reported by National Journal. “We have participated in 20 debates, including eight from CNN.”

Santorum spokesman Hogan Gidley add that the former PA senator “has no plans of doing it right now.” Ron Paul’s camp apparently delivered a similar message.

CNN responded to the news on Thursday afternoon.

“Mitt Romney and Ron Paul told the Georgia Republican Party, Ohio Republican Party and CNN Thursday that they will not participate in the March 1 Republican presidential primary debate,” CNN said in a statement. “Without full participation of all four candidates, CNN will not move forward with the Super Tuesday debate. However, next week, CNN and the Arizona Republican Party will host all four leading contenders for the GOP nomination. That debate will be held in Mesa, Arizona on February 22 and will be moderated by CNN’s John King.”

Mitt Romney sent out an endorsement for Senator Hatch in Utah. A 36 year veteran of Congress. Do you think Romney is interested in upsetting the Republican applecart or doing what he is told by the blue bloods?

    I know what I think.

SURPRISE. Someone needs to tell Newt, otherwise he will show up and think he won the debater. He and Wolf Blitzen can spar all night and accomplish nothing.I knew the Republican women would drop him. It’s time for him to pack up his arrogant act and go write another book. I‘m glad I don’t have to listen to him lie any more.

I‘m waiting for someone to come out and say they will reverse the Supreme Court’s decision to sell our politicians to the richest bidders. Romney seems to agree that any US politician should be allowed to have unlimited funds spent on him and against his opponents… by rich (and secret) corporations from other countries. Have any of the others even mentioned it? Why the hell did they do something so obviously corrupting.

There is a big problem with your idea about Romney being on any Glenn Beck program. I believe that Romney does not trust Glenn Beck. This does not have anything to do with politics, Tea Party, etc…
It has more to do with Beck’s close relationship with Jon Huntsman Sr. and the rift between the Romney and Huntsman families that stem back to the 2002 Winter Olympics and the betrayal of the Huntsman clan toward Romney.
The Huntsman’s were bent out of shape over the selection of Romney over Huntsman Jr. to run the campaign in a huge way. In addition, in 2008, Huntsman Jr. pledged support to Romney’s campaign and was privy to campaign strategy. Romney learned in the papers that Huntsman Jr. then went on to endorse McCain, and took everything he learned from Romney’s campaign to the McCain camp – with the full support of his father, Huntsman Sr. A serious betrayal of Romney’s trust.
This is the reason why I believe Romney will not go on a Glenn Beck program. He can’t trust Glenn because of his relationship with Huntsman Sr. It would be nice if there were full disclosure by Beck (and Pat) about this – but it will most likely not happen. You should even question Beck with boldness.

Its about time the candidates woke up to the face that they were being exploited by CNN and the main stream networks.
In high school a debate was two people standing up and tryng to convice an audience that their side of a question was the correct one. We were given a topic and assigned pro or con sides to argue
It was not a forum where one person asked questions like Stephenopolist(?) did in the last one. The format allows questions that have nothing to do with the topic and are designed to embarass or at least make the candidates look awkward.
