CNN Moves Soledad O’Brien, Anderson Cooper to New Orleans Storm Coverage Instead of GOP Convention

CNN has chosen to move Soledad O’Brien and Anderson Cooper, two of its most well-known television personalities, to New Orleans in anticipation of Tropical Storm Isaac, according to Politico.  The move is being interpreted as an indication of where the network’s priorities are — and it’s not with the Republican National Convention.

Politico writes:

The storm, which is bypassing Tampa and on course for the north Gulf Coast (and very possibly New Orleans), could now pose far bigger problems for the Republicans than high winds and waves ever would. There is a very real fear among Republicans that a natural disaster in New Orleans (seven years after Hurricane Katrina) or nearby could all but eclipse the convention — or, worse, create an unfavorable “split-screen situation” in which images of Hurricane damage are juxtaposed with the theatrics of Mitt Romney’s nomination.

Politico then includes this excerpt from the Boston Globe:

Consider for a moment the juxtaposition of President Obama marshaling his administration’s forces and personally visiting New Orleans or Mobile, Ala., in the aftermath of the storm’s landfall, all while the convention hall is filled with delegates dressed in funny hats listening to partisan speeches.

Consider, too, the practical reality of the public and news media being forced to choose between watching a staged political event or coping with the aftermath of a natural disaster.

NBC has chosen to keep Brian Williams in Tampa “for now,” and ABC is keeping Diane Sawyer there as well.  The two networks are sending their weather experts and lesser-known personalities to cover the storm in New Orleans.

However, it should be noted that CNN is, at least at this point, also leaving much of its political team in Tampa.  Notable personalities include Wolf Blitzer, Candy Crowley, Piers Morgan, and John King.

Mediaite notes that Isaac, and the networks’ reactions to it, plays almost perfectly into the Obama administration’s narrative for Republicans and their convention.

The New York Times, for instance, writes:

But Tropical Storm Isaac threatens to fit just as neatly into that kind of narrative, with Mr. Obama seeking to paint Mr. Romney and Mr. Ryan as opposed to a government that takes care of its most vulnerable and intent on cutting just the sort of federal services that can be critical in emergencies.

Don’t forget the name Isaac in Hebrew means laughter because Sara laughed when she was told that she would conceive at 90 years old!

CNN is there to film Obama walking on water and calming the storm. Telling the community that he is here to help while the GOP will let them drown.

Well, who cares?? We never watch CNN anyway, and most Americans know they can see the entire GOP convention story plus all the news about Isaac on Fox News. CNN will be immersed in the dem convention and we won’t be watching them then either!!!

Will mother nature then again be playing right into Baracks hands? Look Republicans don’t watch CNN, CNN knows this. Republicans are not afraid of liberals or what they think. Let’s kick out CBS, NBC, ABC from the RNC they are so in the bag for the DNC we’d be doing ourselves a favor!

CNN is garbage, most of us agree. That being said, why has News Corp (FOX) contributed more than 20 times as much to the Obama campaign as to the Romney campaign??? Two-party system. Glad Beck left them…I linked it: http://www.topthenews.com/index.php/241-liberal-bias-news-corp-fox-has-contributed-more-than-20-times-as-much-to-obama-campaign-as-romney-s

Because the obama campaign only gives interviews to media outlets that pay them (or they are shunned)… not you know why they are giving interviews “only” to outlets that pay them… funny, abc/cbs/nbc/etc all think they have paid enough over the last three years for a free ride (haha, but until they write more checks Obama will only do “affiliates” and magazines NO ONE READS because they are writing checks… wink.

Notice how obama has not been abusing FOX like he used to do every chance he could… they are paying to play…

I for one, have heard numerous stories about how the TV news media is doing its best not to give the RNC convention air time. This doesn’t surprise me in the least, and strangely, doesn’t even bother me. I think enough clips will be played on daily news channels to cover the highlights. If the MSM does air most of the DNC convention, it will show people just how biased they really are. I call that a win-win.

That’s OK – they wouldn’t give honest reporting anyway. They are scared of the truth, and don’t want the American public to know what a idiot we have running this country.

In the latest poll, 61% feel the media wants Obama to win, 15% Mitt & the rest are not sure. We don’t Soledad anyway at the convention. I do like Cooper as he is a liberal but tries to be fair.

Well did anyone really expect the lame stream media to give a fair shake to the republican national conventio?. I hate to break this to them no one is going to be watching a DNC convention especially with all the women trashing Romney and lying as any good liberal will do. Obama is old news and no one cares what he has to say anymore.
