CNN Video: ‘Batman’ Star Christian Bale ‘Roughed Up’ by Chinese Guards

BEIJING (AP) — Academy Award winner Christian Bale, in the midst of promoting a film he made in China that some critics have called propaganda, has been stopped trying to visit a blind activist living under house arrest — with a CNN camera crew in tow.

CNN posted footage of a scuffle between Bale and the activist’s guards on its website Friday.

The run-in and publicity is likely to cause discomfort in China’s government-backed film industry, which hopes Bale’s movie “The Flowers of War” might be a creative success at home and abroad. It also raises questions about whether it was prudent to bring the star to see an activist guarded by thugs who have turned away dozens of reporters and fellow activists trying to see him in the past.

Mediate:

“We’re trying to get out of here,” a CNN reporter exclaims. “We’ve been stopped. Stopped right here and as you can see, they’re pushing Christian here, trying to leave peacefully.”

As Bale and the CNN news team began to leave, the Chinese guards gave chase in their car.

      Yes, and as well as you can see what happens when capitalism is embedded into a monster like China. Americans forgot their precepts after precepts in that we have forgotten how one nation will dump it‘s sons while another nation dumps it’s daughters. And then what happens? The Nation that has sons sends it’s sons to join your daughters, and is why eventually China will come to invade the U.S. Are you following what I am saying?

      America has been dumping it’s sons spiritually for the longest time, and America has been taken over by daughters and is doing as the Queen of Heaven.       The video was too sensationalized for me. “Bale is roughed up.” He tried to go one way and they turned him around to go the other way at one point escorting him. I’ve seen roughed up…it usually involves a couple of slaps, maybe a noogie and a toss on the ground. “The chinese chased us for a half hour.” Following is not the same as chasing. If they were actually chasing them, I don’t think they would have allowed them back in the car. I think the story had ample merit without the grandiose commentary.

      As I recall, the United States of America has the highest incarceration rate in the world. We incarcerate people for growing and selling plants. And unfortunately, they aren’t even all drug producing plants anymore. With the allowing of copyrighting genes, Monsanto now has carte blanche power to trespass onto your property and take samples of your crops to see if it contains “their” genes. If they find that it does (and when do they not find this to be the case) and that you didn’t buy seed that year, they slap you with criminal charges of theft and take you to court where you handily lose.

      Make no mistake about it, China is a HORRIBLE nation with alot of problems in its’ judicial system. Not the least of which is its‘ total lack of a right to express oneself without fear of gov’t reprisal. But before we go trying to take the log out of another nation’s eye, we should deal with the branch that is firmly piercing our own eye.

      BTW, Christian Bale has played quite a few good characters on the big screen. If you’ve never seen “Equilibrium”, I suggest that you watch it. He was also in reign of fire and if you like prepping and dragons, then how could you not like reign of fire. But warning, Mathew Macwhatshisname stars in it as well. That guy really is a douche.

      Anyway, my last observance on this story is that Ebaums world posted this story before the blaze did. Funny.

      He thinks because he plays a character highlighting social justice for the Chinese people thru telling the story about how horrible the Japanese WERE in the PAST to the CHINESE who love to see something like this because it stokes the fires of hatred not reconciliation. We have put up with this in the US since I can remember. Almost everything I see on Fios TV from old films to new is all about some kind of social justice. Watch the old time westerns they show today, they have brought out the films that were banned in the 70s because they portrayed Indians in a bad light now those same films are shown because they actually show how bad Whites were to them and that is acceptable because it fills an agenda. Truth be told, the common everyday Chinese man and woman have suffered needlessly under the rule of Chinese tyrants and totalitarian despots. Kudos though for trying to get in and see this dissident.

      I will agree with you in that it is rare these days that a “member” of the Hollywood scene would want to visit someone who was pro-life. I don’t know – so I’m just asking… how involved in the Pro-Life Movement is Christian Bale right here in America where 50 million babies have already been aborted? Wouldn’t that “abort” his career in films? If he’s as passionate about it here as there, then I’m 100% in agreement.

      Most of the paste-eaters in Hollywood just adore the concept of Communism (because they haven’t seen it up close) and I suppose it may be educational for them to watch one of their “elite” get pushed away like a commoner. They would have Bale to thank for that “One To Grow On” moment.

      To most of the troglodytes Bale gets street cred for merely attempting something slightly illegal. That’s as far as they can process it.

      And just how could the U,S. help at that time? Its was 1937 – 1938. We weren’t the military war machine then like we are now. The Japanese were prepared for war, we were not. We we didn’t get our military in gear until after Pearl Habor. Also the Flying Tigers were volunteers, but they were our military who were sanctioned by the U.S. governement to be there though unofficially.

      Of course, back in the 1930′s China was not under a despotic Communist rule. That didn’t happen until Mao took control of the country and PROVED that he had a mindless army that would kill millions (and did kill 30+million) if they dissented against the gov’t.Isn’t it amazing how one man can use the race of a people to compel obedience and fear. The only thing uniting China is a common race. They have enough land and population to create 10 nations withing their own borders and yet there is only one. Strange.

    What a great actor! I thought he was an American. Shows you what I know. I was shocked when he spoke. Anyway, good for him. Live and learn.
