CNNMoney Caught Changing Report on ‘Green’ Jobs Numbers, Casting Them in More Positive Light

At 7:50 am Friday morning, CNNMoney reported on the embarrassingly small number of jobs the “green” energy industry has contributed to the nation’s workforce. The story was titled “‘Green’ jobs just a small portion of workforce.”

“As Kermit knows, it’s not easy being green,” the story began. “There were only 3.1 million green jobs in the U.S. in 2010.”

Translation: After receiving billions in federal subsidies ($100 billion from the stimulus program alone), “green” jobs account for only 2.4 percent of the nation’s employment. Seeing as how taxpayer dollars are being thrown at “green” energy projects under the guise of “stimulating the economy” and “creating jobs,” the “2.4 percent” figure is probably not the greatest. At least, that’s what the CNNMoney report seemed to indicate.

That is, until the story changed.

The Blaze noticed at about 4:30 p.m. the story’s headline and opening sentence had been changed to reflect the “green” jobs numbers in a more positive light.

But the headline has now been reworked so that it reads “‘Green’ jobs top 3 million” and the opening sentence is now the exact opposite of the sentiment conveyed in the original report.

“Kermit has more company lately,” CNNMoney reports. “There were 3.1 million green jobs in the U.S. in 2010.”

Wait a minute — we thought it wasn’t easy being green. Now the banjo-playing sock puppet has more company? What happened to that “only” sentiment?

Luckily, for CNNMoney’s sake, the rest of the report remains unchanged; the numbers stay the same. Still, why the sudden change of heart?

Did the site all of sudden decide 3.1 million was a pretty good number after all? The report’s author could not be reached for comment.

“The Bureau of Labor Statistics just released its first tally of jobs associated with producing green goods and services,” the story says (take these numbers with a grain of salt; the administration uses an extraordinarily loose definition for the term “green job“).

“The utilities industry — which includes nuclear and hydroelectric power generation — has the highest share of green jobs, at nearly 12 percent, while the construction industry comes in second at 6.8 percent. Some 5.3 percent of federal government jobs are green,” it adds.

In fact, as reported yesterday on The Blaze, the federal government has invested billions of taxpayer dollars in agency-related “green” energy initiatives.

Which brings us back to the original point: for the amount of money that has been poured into “green” energy, 2.4 percent of the nation’s workforce hardly seems like a fair return on investment.

At least, that’s what the data from both of CNNMoney’s reports would indicate.

      I know a family that recently had a 41 turbine wind farm completed on part of their ranch.

      This project took about nine months to complete with a crew which ranged between 250 and 500 workers depending on the phase of construction. All of those jobs went away upon completion.

      The number of permanent jobs from this wind farm is twelve (12).

      The funny part is that the family will net at least 30 million over the life of the contract and there is a good chance that a second phase will be built on the rest of the ranch. They are laughing all the way to the bank.

      God will render their gods of wind and solar totally useless.

      If the environment worshipers are arrogant enough to believe man can destroy the planet,

      God will show them His brand of global warming. Revelation 16:8 “Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and power was given to him to scorch men with fire.”

      Jesus is LORD and faith in His sacrifice is the only way to be right with a holy and righteous God who will judge the earth and poor out His wrath on those who reject His son.

      Even the numbers are suspect. Since the guy who drives a city bus is considered to have a green job since the bus replaces many autos, guys who sell Volts and Leafs are considered to have green jobs. There was a report out a few months back about how the green jobs # is derived……

      This is nothing new. The way this is done is usually you get one publication to do an “error”. Then an associate quotes it in another publication. When the quotation goes full release, the quote is dropped and the original government source is still sited. Now the new number becomes the widely reported one. The first publication prints a small retraction, and now the wide spread lie is fact. Government officials pay a lot of reporters to do this. No one remembers the original mistake.

      The long lie that did this was carter transportation secretary Neil goldschmidt who would become governor of Oregon. Millions of dollars were paid to victims of his child molestations, and reporters who knew. He raised a lot of money for da’s and politicians so he would never be charged. Today still in his case, reporters call his child molestation crimes as an improper relationship.
      Government budgeting is done off projections. If you don’t like the number, write a new one. None of them are real. Whine and dine a media reporter and thro them a bone, and they will never question you. One staffer is always assigned to groom reporters to favor the government body. Editors like having a reporter that can call an official, as if an official will not answer questions anyway.

      The whole system runs like a junior high popularity contest. Where reality doesn’t matter.

      Did they deduct all those people that have lost their jobs since 2010. Theres Solendra and I remember a solar panal company last year that sent everything to China and 1500 folks were layed off. I just read where GM has had to Shut down the Volt line since the cares aren’t selling.

      We’ve got to stop looking at the media as a reliable source for anything. They are a for profit operation. And they will say and do anything to keep in the black. CNN has declared themselves to be the obango news network. Just as messnbc has. And that list only gets longer. Even FoxNews has passed over the tracks. The only way to understand what’s going on “IS” to use your deductive reasoning. Watch what they DO, weighed with what they say and collect “intelligence” from at least 5 different sources and operate the quadratic yourself. It’s not that hard. Most of the time it’s so obvious that once you get the rhythm, you’ll ask yourself how you had missed it before.

      thanks. a couple of military friends of mine and myself back in 88 were having a repeated conversations about rumors and the gulable. we each hatched a rumor to see how it was spread. I paid a college student $25 to fake mine in a student newspaper in san franciso. I thought I won the bet. We had to do a 3 week assignment and when we got back, another friend of mine got his rumor as an “unconfirmed report” in the san francisco chronical on page 8? I was stunned. I had to pay my friend the required one dollar. The bet amount came from the movie trading places.
      The media is lazy most of the time. Laziness is weakness. It usually costs a blue collar worker their job, but strangely is encouraged in the political sector.

      I was a wind turbine tech. When I was hired, i had no banes or preferences, but when i left, i watched them loses millions after millions to try to make a buck. I watched millions lost and not 1 dollar made, which would have made them keep afloat.
      The wind industry has never and will never make a dollar, they are nearly 100% subsidized and can not function with our both government and big corporations donating to them.Yes, BIG corporations, like every single BIG OIL and most BIG COAL, other wise they do not function. They do not operate, unless they have an outside source, lets say coal, oil, or nukes, or the rather random geothermal. Wind is a bondoggle at best, its a fail at worst. Currently solar is a fail, it does have a good prospect of survivng if they can make it organic, but as of now, when the solar panel fails, its a a huge cost to remove, because its toxic waste. Nukes have the best potential in my book.
      We dont hav what Japan had, they were hit with more than 1 major natural desaster at one time, for most of the US, thts never going tohappen and ours are stronger built.

      GONZO, You could see that only a couple of years after their inception. They really went rabid left wing then and only got worse during the Clinton admin, thus called the Clinton Network News or simply the Communist Network News. They cooled their jets a bit during GW’s 8 years in office and made a mild attempt to sound “fair and balanced.” With the arrival of 0bama, they are back to their tried and true old tricks.     Wait. What is now considered a ‘green’ job – in the eyes of this administration? Seriously, I would bet there are extrememly few actual ‘green’ jobs in the US. And, with the closing of all the solar panel companies, how many ‘green’ jobs have been lost?

    I would bet that there are less than 100,000 ‘green’ jobs right now…that is, jobs that have human beings functioning in a workplace or outdoor environment, where results/products/improvements can be accounted for.

    Maybe 3.1 million green jobs…but how many came from the “stimu-bust”???
    after all, the Stimu-bust didn’t build a single Hydo-electric dam, or Nuclear power plant, and there were “green” bulbs, and windfarms and hybrid cars looong before the “Mad Bama” bent the USA over and had his way with our dirty parts..

      You right, it is…but it does influence people and then they regurgitate it back to you as “Green Jobs have added milions and millions of jobs”…it is basic psychology…we see it in the left/liberal talking points all the time.. The fact that they are being caught red handed in the act of manipulating numbers and narrative, that is the story.

      Anyway, best info comes from the following people in whom I know and trust: Mark Levin, Michelle Malkin, David Limbaugh, Michael Patrick Leahy, Michael Holler, Ralph Peters, Deneen Borelli, and a few others. I am certain that if an individual does his/her homework, that person will find people in the radio, tv, and print that is as interested in the truth as we are. I would also say Rush; but I don’t know him personally–but he, like his brother; is a trustworthy source to be sure.

      @Tron Yeah, I’ve checked out most of them from time to time. I hate to use the “N” word (neocon), but I just can’t get past what know from my personal experiences. When one of them says a middle eastern country is a threat to our security, I am turned off immediately. I know they’re lying, and once I know that, I don’t believe anything else they have to say. I’ve tuned most of them out lately. Drudge and GB/Blaze, but they both have their faults as well. Check out Karen Kwiatkowski. “She received an MA in Government from Harvard University and an MS in Science Management from the University of Alaska. She has a PhD in World Politics from The Catholic University of America; her thesis was on overt and covert war in Angola, A Case Study of the Implementation of the Reagan Doctrine.” She’s a 20 year retired AF Lt.Col., intel officer, and worked in the Pentagon her last 5 years in service (Desert Storm). She knows what I know. (well a lot more) Now do you trust her less than Rush who has never served, never had a security clearance, is high school grad, and an opiate junky? How about Michael Sheuer, head of the Bin Laden unit of the CIA? Those TRUE experts aren‘t being consulted anymore by the MSM and disregarded by all those you mentioned because they support RP’s foreign policy. So I stick to places that use them as experts. LewRockwell.com, Adam Kokesh’s stuff, etc.
