CNN’s Cafferty: Perry, Bachmann, Palin Supporters Seem ‘Allergic to Brains’

CNNs Cafferty: Perry, Bachmann, Palin Supporters Seem Allergic to BrainsAnother biting, and, condescending comment was delivered to supporters of Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin Wednesday when CNN’s Jack Cafferty blasted the “intellectual lightweights” leading the GOP presidential field, wondering why their supporters “seem to be allergic to brains.”

The CNN contributor labeled the candidates “Curly, Moe, and Larry“ and sarcastically mocked Palin a ”MENSA candidate.” Below is a partial transcript and accompanying video:

In an election where the Republican candidate actually stands a chance against a weakened incumbent president, so far it is a couple of intellectual lightweights who are stealing the show.

Since Michele Bachmann won the Iowa straw poll and Rick Perry entered the race, these two have been sucking up most of the media’s attention, mostly for saying stupid stuff. Like Bachmann‘s claim that as president she’ll bring gasoline down to $2 a gallon. Or Perry’s highly inappropriate shot at Federal Reserve Chair Ben Bernanke saying that his actions could be “treasonous.”

Meanwhile, some Republicans, including Karl Rove, are suggesting that the former half-term dropout governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, is going to join the race as well. Swell. Palin’s people are pushing back against the speculation, saying that anyone who claims to know about her plans is misleading the American people. But Palin has certainly been acting like a candidate, now hasn’t she? Showing up in Iowa during the straw poll voting, and…Iowa-themed political video released ahead of her Labor Day speech which is also scheduled to take place in Iowa. If Palin runs, we’ll have yet another MENSA candidate to join Bachmann and Perry. There is no doubt this three-some would consume the lion’s share of the media coverage.

At the other end of the intellectual spectrum, there’s Ron Paul, who placed a very close second in the Iowa straw poll. He continues to talk sense – whether or not enough people are listening. There’s Newt Gingrich – love him or hate him, he’s a very bright man. There’s also Jon Huntsman, who says candidates like Bachmann and Perry are too far to the right and have “zero substance.” Testimony to his intellect right there.

He may be right, but I venture to say none of the three has a prayer against Curly, Moe and Larry. And that’s a sad commentary on the state of our politics, isn’t it?

Here’s the question: When it comes to presidential politics, why does America seem to be allergic to brains?

Watch Cafferty’s insults fly:

Sarcasm aside, the guy has a point. When someone states they don‘t believe in evolution or say it’s “a theory out there” they are definitely on the anti-intellectual fringe. The number of educated people in the world, of any religion, who believe evolution is false is vanishingly small. This is only history reliving itself. The Bible used to say the Earth revolved around the sun too.

This entire push to drive down teacher pay and teach religion in science classes is sad and will hopefully stop. Other countries in the world are going to leave us in the dust if that anti-education bias ever actually takes hold in the US.

Sorry but believing in a theory is just that believing in a theory. Now I have no issue with said belief but it is what it is. You need to read more on macro and micro evolution. Secondly the Hebrews never placed earth as the center of the universe, that wasn’t adopted till much later when the Kings took over the religious churches. In acient Hebrew the center of the universe was always God and all they could see including the sun revolved around him.

@JZS About the only thing “vanishingly small” are the number of brain cells you have left. It is actually interesting to listen to the “enlightened” ones (such as you profess yourself to be) talk condescendingly as your only way to justify / cover your argument. The CNN anchor clearly has no other method of hiding his complete lack of integrity other than doing the same; talking down to people…so typically Liberal. If you take yourself back several months, you will find that Palin was dead on about the “Death Panels”…as well as other charges she was ridiculed for. And, in so far as Bachman’s claim of $2 gasoline; (for those of us free-market types) we would have much more faith of that happening because we know how easy it would be to accomplish. I would welcome that to Obama’s $4 a gallon any day. Obama is so far in over his head that even the press is looking as stupid as he is trying to make excuses for it. This CNN idiot just makes it that much more obvious.

I am an educated man. Unlike some of our elected officials, I am not educated beyond my intelligence. It is obvious that species of animals evolve within their own species to survive. So far, science has found no evidence (aka missing link) that any species evolved into another. They have found animals that are similar but with subtle bone structure differences and then based on the “faith of atheism” they make that leap to big bang to primordial ooze and then poof mankind. It takes more faith to be a Darwinian Atheist then a Catholic. Less extraordinary belief system.

      JZS,
The reason evolution is called a theory much like the big bang ,or relativity is because theres not enough concrete facts to 100% prove it. You supposed enlighten individuals will swallow idea as fact so long as if fits your ideology. Poll the anthony jury and they will all agree in evolution, the big bang and relativity when so much is left unanswered. But they couldn’t agree with the theory that a crime was committed by a woman who lied for months about where her child was while she was out partying her a55 off. There more evidence that Caley died of foul play that her mother had a major role in it than there is to prove any of the theories I foremementioned. Yet the jury would swallow the latter based on scientist consensus as opposed to actual evidence.
He77 millions and millions of people believe that AUW is the cause of global warming based scientist consensus and even when they changed to the name to Climate change because of the harsh cold weather people still swallow it. They continued to believe when scientist were caught time and time again rigging data and spinning events to match their theories. They still continue to believe when the very backbone(the heat is being trapped) of the global warming scientist theory was proven wrong by NASA thermal imagining showing heat escaping at a much faster rate than any of their climate cells.
      Belief in anything that isn’t 100% provable isn‘t enlighhtenment it’s ideology. JFTR you‘re not enlightened you’re a i

Agree, everyone knows that the estimated 6,500,000 species on the earth’s land surface descended from the 7 of every clean and 2 of every unclean animals in the little wooden boat that Noah built. God put all the penguins down the south pole and took away their wings so that they could swim and gave the polar bears a nice furry coat to keep them warm. Bacteria don‘t evolve to overcome antibiotics and CO2 certainly doesn’t warm the atmosphere. You don’t have to be intelligent to know that. Glad we cleared that up.

Typical liberal mindset. “if you disagree with me you must be stupid” I do believe in evolution, at the same time I question the absolute miracle of DNA and RNA randomly forming, even after millions of years. Try Law of Gravity; not Theory. Secondly there are in fact many scientist who dispute how the actual LAW works. Meaning there isn’t consent within all the scientific fields to say how gravity actually binds one object of matter to another. The problem with Evolution is that the scientific community hasn’t allowed for the same critique. They Evolution is how it is now all we have to do is find the evidence to prove it, which even at Darwins time couldn’t do. Even Darwin himself recognized this and wrote about it in The origin of species.

“Uses continue to be found for supposedly “leftover” body structures. Evolutionists point to useless and vestigial (leftover) body structures as evidence of evolution. However, it’s impossible to prove that an organ is useless, because there’s always the possibility that a use may be discovered in the future. That’s been the case for over 100 supposedly useless organs which are now known to be essential. Scientists continue to discover uses for such organs. It’s worth noting that even if an organ were no longer needed (e.g., eyes of blind creatures in caves), it would prove devolution not evolution. The evolutionary hypothesis needs to find examples of developing organs—those that are increasing in complexity.”

Rules for Radicals: Rule four, “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, who then react to your advantage.”

      Questions evolution can’t answer

      Who created primordial soup?
If we were too ignorant to survive, how did we know to evolve?
If was created with a few atoms, why are new planets/galaxies not popping up daily now that there are near infinite atom compared to the few that started everything?
If layers of rock represent millions of years, why are there pictures of fossilized trees though several layers of rock?
Why has no mutation that increases genetic information ever been discovered?
Why do some believe in science backed evolution considering it contradicts the science of entropy?
With the thousands of fossils found, why have we yet to find one of a form on the verge of another form?
Why is the theory of evolution built on a platform science has already proved impossible, Biogenesis? Just so I a clear, isn’t a Law something that has been proven and a theory something that has yet to be proven?

Link is informative and exposes flaws in evolutionary theory

Simply NOT true. The vast majority of ‘scientists’ who don‘t start their ’investigation’ with “There is no God, so how did the universe get here” (that is to say those that who are not closed minded, and employ an honest and open scientific process) come to the conclusion that the universe was created, that evolution is a ridiculous idea that requires far more blind (and dumb) faith than believing in the Creator.

      2. The theory of evolution is still just a theory, no matter how many people or scientist believe it. This theory has not been proven and there are a lot of problems with the theory and a lot of science that does not support it.
      3. Evolution at this point is a belief, everyone is entitled to their own belief. However, creationism or intelligent design is also a belief. None of it is science as of yet and none of it has been proven.

Ah, the ad hominem argument – last resort of those with no real case to present. Just attack with personal insults. It doesn’t even work well in the schoolyard. “Oh yeah, well you’re just… just…STUPID!” Your very approach, Mr. Cafferty, leveling personal attacks of stupidity against these folks, points the finger back at you.

That is ENOUGH! Your basic problem is that you tell the truth. That isn’t PC. You need to stop thinking before you speak. I don’t know what you are up to but “WE” will have to keep a close eye on you.

I guess a Ph.D. in particle physics makes me a no-brain. I support Sarah, Michelle and Perry … more-so, the first two. Perry has some ****** in his conservative armor … but he’s much better than Romney or other RINOs.

No masters, thankfully people like us get it and will vote for four more years. I am hoping unemployment gets up to about 25 percent and eventually the government will pay for my and your entire lifestyle. Right now they aren’t paying for me to live in as big of a house as my employed neighbors but someday soon both of us will be there. Four more years!!

That’s precisely what I find so amusing about this. I’m watching the slow circling of the drain by a once promising country. And the sappy, ever-more-desperate belief in this country that there is actually some sort of “American Dream,” which has merely been misplaced. The decay and disintegration of this culture is astonishingly amusing if you are emotionally detached from it.

Yeah, you’re spot on there. The rest of them are parroting talking points that their campaign staff told them would “play well with conservative voters”, while only Ron Paul *predicted* all of this decades ago, and knows exactly how to fix it. You would have to be a little crazy to vote for a politician when what we need is a Statesman who knows how to lead and knows what needs to be done to fix our country.

I can’t wait to hear Obama blame the Tea Party when he loses the 2012 election. As for being allergic to brains I‘m stilling waiting to hear the Left’s explanation for why they put Obama up for the office. He doesn’t know how many states in the Union, he can’t do basic math, is a habitual liar, and still doesn’t know what a Birth Certificate is. Ever since John Kerry crawled out from under a rock and they scraped the bottom of the barrel for Al Gore…Obama must have stuck to someone’s tire when they drove over him. I read a guy’s post on WND…he said the earthquake in DC was blamed on the Bush’s Fault.

well said……..THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY PLANTATION for DECRIMINALIZING PEDOPHILIA…….since education and feeding the children has failed and not created jobs……..Democratic Pedophilia Plantation is now sending well qualified Pedophilia to your local schools…….schools will be handing out reading books for the children….. Lesbian and guy orgys ….this will promote children to get more involved in these activities …..Cafferty is so pro child molestation….. and live demonstrations of lesbian and guy activities in your local school ……This is strictly a Democratic Party Plantation initiative …..promoted by the HHS ……..that when Cafferty heard that Curly , Larry , Moe rejected this obscenity he immediately wanted to tag them……. the Democratic Party Plantation can not afford to lose any slaves……….young or old…….

The political animals are at it again and so is the press. Media reports like a fictional movie based on absolutely no facts. Instead of getting caught up in name calling or labeling, or should I say branding for influential reasons, why can’t we report the substance of what these politicians have done. Let’s compare and have equal debates and let the people make up their mind based on FACT. On another note, I haven‘t seen anyone step forward who is going to save us and I don’t think that person exist. What we need is a collective of people who will restore this country back to when we were a thriving country and individual freedoms were greater. Look, when we were a more conservative country we didn’t have all this terrorism, murder and disgusting, sick stuff going on. We didn’t have all the murder, sex and violence in the movies to the extent we have today. Rap, Movies, Music and Games are all about Action violence – no wonder we have no morals, we’ve all been desensitized. It’s really worse than that too. Compare the way people were in the 1940′s, they had more respect for each other. Yes things weren’t perfect but we had a lot more freedom and opportunity.

Well, okay, that explains why you work for a network that tells you what you can say, what to say specifically and when you can say it. Half your dim-witted audience has no idea who that is.
