CNN’s Fareed Zakaria: Tea Party is ‘Ideologically Extreme’ & ‘Refuses to Compromise’

CNN’s Fareed Zakaria continued his string of controversial statements yesterday (he’s called for modeling the U.S. Constitution amendment process after Iceland, let’s remember) by saying he agrees with people who call the Tea Party “ideologically extreme.”

“Watching the extraordinary polarization in Washington today, many people have pointed the finger at the Tea Party. It’s ideologically extreme, refuses to compromise, and cares more about purity than problem solving,” Zakaria said on his show. “I happen to agree with much of that critique, but it doesn’t really answer the question, why has the Tea Party become so prominent? Why is it able to dominate Washington?”

Really? No mention of any leftist movements or organizations? Not even a union? John McCain moving “farther” to the right?

And what about dealing with the Tea Party’s positions on their merit, instead of ad hominum attacks? That might be too much to ask from the man who once admitted to advising the president.

      I got news for him….the Tea Party has become so dominant because it’s how the majority of Americans feel. If you do phone polls in major Democratic or taker territory, of course you aren’t going to see the real picture. They‘re afraid to poll average Americans because they wouldn’t be able to lie about the results.

      Really? One could just as easily say “Watching the extraordinary polarization in Washington today, many people have pointed the finger at the Obama administration. It’s ideologically extreme, refuses to compromise, and cares more about purity than problem solving”.

      Tea party extremists? Well…which is the first administration in the history of the US to NOT see the US as exceptional in the world? Which president has NOT publicly cheered America on and touted it’s great potential to lead the world? Which president s the first tom declare that the US in not Christian nation, skips the National Day of Prayer, but attends a Muslim day of prayer? Which administration has shut down out space program (and thus the myriad of technological miracles it has produced), asserted that Islam means us no harm despite overwhelming evidence the the contrary, thumbed his nose at the War Powers Act concerning Libya, praised the “Arab Spring” when it was clearly anything but, has more than tripled any deficit Bush racked up in 1/4 of the time it took Bush to do it, rammed a government health care bill down our throats that no one read, and demagogues every issue put before him without coming up with any solutions of his own?

      The people who make up the tea party have compromised for decades and the left just kept pushing. There comes a point where the straws weight is too much for the camel……WE’RE THERE.
      We sat back and allowed government growth into areas where government doesn’t belong,we allowed debt to grow for the sake of what was suppose to be helping the unprivledged and poor to better achieve the American dream. We’ve watch this bohemeth grow beyond Constitutionally allowable perameters and have had it. Our forefather rang the bell loudly informing all of the peoples of the dangers of government. We are now seeing how true their words were as our government is trying to usurp the Constitution through the U.N. and international law,as they are trying to force Americans to buy products,as the liberals are refusing to pass a balanced budget amendment and allow thye citizens the right to decide the nation’s future. We are at a point when where the Republic is in grave danger. Where the meek in our society who feed on the governments teet is deciding the faith of those who actually pay the taxes.

      What did he say that was insulting? He just reported a list of facts, many of which posters here have confirmed. That is, the tea party is extreme and refuses to compromise. He was merely commenting on the political atmosphere in Washington. Political speech is fundamental to this country, you are just upset because he has called the tea party out for what it is.

      Really, it’s quite funny that you call his statements un-American while all he did was make a political statement, a fundamental right within this country. Therefore, you calling him un-American for exercising this right shows you to be un-American.

      How do I know he’s a citizen? Well I’ll tell you. You see, there is this thing called a google search where you can find information. I know computators are tricky, but just go to google.com and try it for yourself. You’ll be amazed by all the stuff you can find.

      Preaching to the converted is not as absurd as it sounds. It is necessary to maintain and raise morale. It promotes solidarity. It strengthens the foundation for action. Conversion without deeds is incomplete. In politics, people are justified only by works. Faith alone means nothing. In politics, faith without works is indeed dead.

      But what are the works that work? Preaching to the heathen? This seems to make them worse, not better. Who can recall a success in such matters? It may be argued that preaching only plants the seed that takes root and only later grows into a glorious conversion. Can anyone truly claim to have witnessed such a thing, however postponed or delayed?

      It might just be that the best policy -perhaps the only effective one- is to leave the heathen alone and permit them to make up their own minds. We know that some, though unfortunately not all, will come around in time. Many are too young to know any better. They are going through a stage that has to be gone through. Suggesting this to them only excites and agitates them more. Those who eventually grow up and out of their political fantasies will look back at themselves and smile.

      Heathens who are old enough to know better but do not are, of course, quite hopeless. It is probably best to step around them and their mess when one can. They can be remarkably nasty when they are contradicted. Those with experience of such things compare it to kicking a skunk. The stench of the heathens is strong.

    Come on folks, admit it, we are extreme just like the original tea-party participants who tossed the tea into the harbor. Any tea party member who does not not agree that we are extreme is not a member of the tea party. He or she is a weakling, a rino, someone unworthy to stand with us. Zakaria thinks he’s insulting us when he refers to us as extreme. To the real tea party member he is offering the highest praise. We do not compromise. We do not back down. We will not surrender.     I for one is happy to be considered “ideologically extreme” since that means that we will not accept anything less than the restoration of our freedoms and the restoration of our Godly Constitution, the way that our founding fathers and God meant for it to be. We will NOT compromise on giving up our freedoms and allowing this great nation to turned into another socialist/communist state because some demagogues (a political agitator who appeals with crude oratory to the prejudice and passions of the mob) try to take over this country as a hostage for their own agendas. This type of attitude goes against anything good.

    But you don’t understand Freak Ms. Nancy Pelosi swore the tea party is astroturf don’t worry about it. Also is he a legal person? Is he here illegally? Why do we have so many 3rd worlder in the news? I cannot understand what they say without having to read it. I want to go back to the days when American news had only American’s on it.       Actually, he is an American citizen. I know people like you don‘t like it when someone that doesn’t look like you becomes an American, but unfortunately for you, the Constitution does not allow for an ethnicity test for citizenship.

      Gee golly, I miss those swell old days too, you know, the ones where blacks and women knew their place and only white people were on TV. Boy, those were the days.

    Not worried…I havent watched CNN in years. The only chance we have is now. The progressives incementalism over the past 100 years could very well pay off for them. IF WE DONT SUCCEED NOW. Keep doing what your doing. I believe that in most other governments-those that tried to fundamentally change a government from within is treason for citizens and espionage for foreigners. Kids taught the merits of communism in college by leftist professors. How did these guys get their jobs? who is allowing their continued employment? Just sayin….

    Why has the Tea Party become so predominate? This he actually asks and yet is still so utterly and completely clueless?

    Mr Zakaria the reason why is very simple: We want the country saved and restored, to tame and to take back the government and the socialistic mess the progressive and the left have made of it for the last 100 years; and to have it answer once again to the will and conscent of the people.

    Easily understood if he removed his own blinders.

      Just my opinion, yet I think the reason why they are not doing the “Blame the Tea-party-extremist-religious-conservative-terrorist” theories is they are in a blind panic; nothing of the old ways and paradigms are working, and they are at complete losses as how to handle the situation.

      So now they are headed for the ‘scorched earth’ policy to bring it all down around their ears.
