CNN‘s John King Slams Obama Inconsistency Over FNC ’Destructive’ Comment

How can Fox News be labeled “destructive” and MSNBC considered “invaluable” by the White House?
That‘s the question CNN’s John King was asking last night during a segment in which he pitted the “destructive” network against the “invaluable” one. By showing clips of both Fox and MSNBC hosts, King mocked Obama’s recent comments that Fox is a “destructive” force while a White House spokesman said that MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow provide “an invaluable service” to the country:
(H/T: NewsBusters)
But King didn’t stop there — he also used a May speech from “professor Obama,” in which he encourages graduates to listen to dissenting voices, to point out more hypocrisy. Obama: “For if we choose only to expose ourselves to opinions and viewpoints that are in line with our own, studies suggest that we become more polarized, more set in our ways.”
King responds, “I think he’s right. In that commencement speech, he’s right.” And later added a sarcastic, “I’m shocked.”
Like King, NewsBusters isn’t buying the May rhetoric:
…[W]hat has come out of this White House in the past week is exactly how he feels, and that commencement address in May was just another in a never ending litany of campaign speeches Americans should take with a grain of salt. …
Bravo, John. Bravo
Mediaite thinks it’s a good move too:
It would do a smart move for King to try to establish himself as an objective observer in this battle between the Obama fans and foes, if for no other reason that it secures an identity for his program. …
This could signal a new, potentially successful, direction on the John King, USA roadmap.

Posted on September 30, 2010 at 10:29amTo be honest, this is not out of the ordinary at all for CNN. They have some very fair reporters, John King is one of them, and they always bring on both sides. The reason they are hard to watch is because they are boring most of the time. But John King’s show is pretty good.

Posted on September 30, 2010 at 10:29amI hate to say it, but yes, CNN may actually be seeing the (ratings) light. Even Wolf, uh, uh, uh, Blitzer sometimes says things about the Pres that aren’t of the “thrill up the leg” variety. Will CNN ever go back to factually reporting news instead of being part of the cheering section for Lefties? All I can say is they’d better, or the “spin” will be them circling the drain as they go under.

Posted on September 30, 2010 at 10:22amI think if CNN actually becomes a news network it will do more for this country than anything else. People watch CNN because they are bias against Fox but CNN has been a advertising Arm for democrats for years and they could be an immediate force in news if they would just hold both sides accountable. Right now, they attack the right and glaze over the issues of the left. So if you take away the attacks to the right and apathy to the left and replace it with journalism then it helps everyone.
It will help separate the lefties with the far left loonies and it will keep the right straight and the far right from going overboard. It is what we need, balance.
When this happens I think Fox will dial it down as well and will continue to be the leader because they will no longer have to play the role of equalizing the discussion between 4 networks to their 1.

Posted on September 30, 2010 at 11:40amThe last thing we need to worry about is anybodys ratings, what we should realize is that we are dealing we an overblown ego in the White House. It makes no difference what color his skin is, the ego sticks out ,even when he tries to play the commoner role, glad handing people, and smiling during his pose. This character sees himself as the ANOINTED ONE, and just simply cannot understand the difficulty he is having being given Divine status. He thinks that if he says it, and smiles, the world will fall at his feet, and he will get to be His Omnipotenence,as compared to the lowly position that he now holds. While he surrounds himself with some of the most destructive persons on the planet, and continues to tell America that he is just a regular JOE,the underhanded attempt to deface and defame this country continues by the very people he has installed, notice that I do not say appointed, that is the legal way-with questions and answers in front of Congress. Not this routine that needs to be erased by CONGRESS,immediately, the appointing of all of these Czars is becoming a government over the government, and I did not sign on for ANY form of socialilsm in this country. Obama and his minions are determined to lower the strength and vitality of America to a point of being able to take it over with promises of new programs tlhat will give everyone ,everything. What scares me,is that I see so many people standing in line today hoping for that so-called ObamaMoney, and we are still being told to spread the wealth around. I have spread all I can, next I guess they will require me to give over my used skivies.

Posted on September 30, 2010 at 10:21amThis is great, but it’s too little FAR too late for me to ever take CNN seriously.
They aren’t directly covering Obama or any of the other radicals destroying America… just the bickering between news networks. They are just trying to salvage their image in a time of trouble. They’ll act like they have some credibility, but will still be up to all the same tricks.
I’m not impressed. CNN viewers aren’t going to flock to FOX because of this. They’ll just think CNN is objective and keep absorbing the propaganda.
Cheap, shallow tactic. All or nothing. Pick one.

IMHO, it‘s a ’baby-step-to-the-right‘ by CNN based on the Conservative tsunami that’s coming (the writing is on the wall) in an desperate attempt not lose their viewers and advertisers so they can keep spewing their propaganda (in a milder form perhaps, but leopards don’t change their spots). Chris Mathews has also recently sounded not nearly as radical. These commentators are not stupid, they will shift with the winds and should not be trusted. I do not explicitly trust FNC either, although they do enjoy some what more of my trust than CNN, or any other of the self proclaimed “mainstream” media. The first time I ever heard of Glenn Beck, he was on one of those fruitcake news/opinion stations, and I did not trust him either. The more I listened to him, though, the more it seemed that he had more of the same beliefs as myself, and I came to trust him a little more. Posted on September 30, 2010 at 12:24pmWhat would be the logic in going back to watch and listen to CNN? Have they not already chosen a side, the side that’s against the truth?
CNN’s back stepping here is not real . . . There is no realization on their part that socialism and liberalism are damaging and dead wrong. Their only realization is that socialism and liberalism simply don’t deliver viewers, as in no audience, as in no profitability . . . as in, contradiction. Don’t just let the liberal media sink with the Democratic Party, but make sure that they do . . . Don’t go back. After all, they did make a very committed choice in orchestrating the deceptions that is Obama; they played a heavy hand in duping America . . . Just ask Hilary Clinton if you can trust the liberal media.
Know they are always liberals first; they have a liberal agenda . . . For right now that agenda is to survive. This new, reasonable sentiment of CNN’s, that they’re having a political change of heart, know that you, their lost viewers, are no more than pawns right now in their game of how liberals survive from generation to generation just as you were pawns when it was time to get Obama elected. Their level of taking, of pushing the liberal agenda forward, it ebbs and flows with the socio-political movements of the country. They know when it’s time to go back into the shadows and pretend they are something other than what they are. That’s what they do; it’s how they survive.
But it’s up to you now, to those of us here, to keep sight of what and who we are, what we will not tolerate from those that are given and break sacred trusts; trusts we dearly rely on to be an informed public with a future. Let’s keep sight of the true and intended role journalism is to play in America’s democracy . . . There is no room for CNN, or others like them. They’ve adequately proven themselves unworthy by the serious nature of their acts of deception against us. They have chosen to reduce themselves to being classified as “entertainment,” at best. And of course, that should be granted to them for no other reason but to uphold their freedoms of speech. But “entertainers,” they should be called. What they present is not real; it is an enactment of what they want to be real by way of coercing you into believing it as such, including their sudden conversion to sensibility.
A difference can be made right now. You can make a difference in how journalism evolves from this point forward. We have the power to make that choice: Simply choose to not be fooled again.

Besides, Obama‘s favoratism for MSNBC is no different than Tea Party candidates’ favoratism for Fox News.
